3D for Fallout 3!

And Engines can be manipulated, turn based combat... is a must. Deus Ex worked good as an FPS rpg, but Fallout wouldn't do justice.

Can't they just use Oblivion Engine, which looks good, by the way and use it to give the isometric view and the Fallout features, just with better look of Oblivion.

I think the game play style should NOT change. However, i think some rules tweaks (not unlike what JE Sawyer did, but not necessarily the same) are in order.

Yeah... But Fallout did need a move from the graphics. Or at least a 2D boost. They could have invested the Infinity engine...

But engines can be re-worked.

I don;t want first person, but they can always give it the isometric view and with Oblivion, well that would look sweet!!!!

As for the skill over all, I have my reservations of that. I liked the old skills... But hey, we'll see what they do. Right now, whatever one here is trying to guess them or figure what they're doing, when right now they are going over their own plans.

Wait and see what the first screen shot will look like and then either shoot them or say, "Damn, they may have something."

But Rev, you got a point, some rules should be tweaked.

JE sawyer was heding in the right direction with SPECIAL for for FO3... I didn't agree with all the changes... but a balancing of the skill system I thought wa a nice point. SPECIAL's (in FO1 and FO2) skill list is one-third combat. I don't know if that truly is an imbalance or not as many RPG systems have a big focus on combat.

I hope it will be somehow possible to switch the birds eye view with the first person view like 3D GTA's did (GTA3, vice city had birds eye view in a really realistic fashion compared to the older birds eye view games) because a shoot em up RPG was a nice mix that I liked like in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines they allowed guns in first person view while having a wide variety mix of rpg like skills and story quests, and since fallout tactics had the ability to play in turn based mode or real time I think it would be possible to have a valve like style of the new fallout somehow while being able to move into birds eye view, but I seriously doubt they would do this because 1. they would require a lot more work and I don't think anyone wants to wait anymore longer for the new fallout and 2. a large margin of the original fallout players would rather stick to the birds eye view without making it too difficult to make the actually gameplay just annoying. So it's more than likely that a first person view shoot em up RPG of fallout would probably be far in the future as graphics and stuff has progressed to the point of it not being that hard to make in a game without much complaint.

So basically, you want to throw out the entire principle of Fallout, thinking about what you do and not just twitch, and make it a first-person shooter with some 'RPG additions'.
Please attempt to enlighten me as to why this would still make this a Fallout game.

I have no idea how that would make it a fallout game and that's exactly how I know they won't make one like it anytime soon, too much of a change. but I can see it as maybe a side-off game sometime

LIKE FOPOS LOLOLOL

seriously, it was tried as an action game and failed.... MISERABLE

However, I think if a developer took more care in the canon, presentation, and back-story of a similar game (and adding action that was somewhat fun to play), a spin-off action based Fallout COULD have worked. Just the dudes who made FOPOS really screwed up big time.

yeah and because bethesdas helping with it perhaps they could make it with the same gameplay type as morrowind was but without the long travelling across the living world thing but that would be difficult to make as the RPG fallout but I bet one day if fallout get's more and more popular there will be some kind of war between like 3 very large factions and they will make a game about it like starwars battlefront or conker live and reloaded was, which is probably as close as a action game would be for fallout, figures

My real problem with FO3, is that it might toned down to a Teen rating (to reach a broader audience). I really hope not, but, you never know.

yeah that would suck we don't want them taking out all the good stuff that kept fallout realistic do we?

I'm sure a good PA story can still be crafted with a Teen rating, but some of TEH GRITTINESS would be kind of lost without an M rating, IMO.

Like punctuation, right?

I'd like to see FO3 as AO. Read this if you want to see what Fallout with a Teen rating would look like.

wow that...just about sounds like what my game would be like, I can see it now "WHERE ARE THE BODIES AND THE CHILDREN?!?..I must kill them and get the childkiller wanted signs and title!!"

wow did I have fun with that game when it first came out. course after slaughtering a whole town for 2 hours straight I kinda got bored

That is exactly what I am afraid of when I am thinking of F3 on 3D.
That I get bored when I want to go to a place where I have to do things, cause there is no "map", "teleports", and while I travel I am constantly attacked by a "swarms of rats that the city guards could not kill" like in Dungeon Lords.

I hope they keep the city borders as exit grounds and they make more areas than in F1 and F2, some might be just ruins of destroyed town, random items and some enemies.
(sorry for opening a can of worms)

they should have it if you start killing people in like for example vault city that you can't leave until you've killed all the nearby guards-hostiles unless they are quest giving-completing NPC's and you can somehow..win their acceptance back
