5 new gameplay videos

I was only able to watch the first two videos before boredom set in.

Brown, it's the new cool.

I agree with most of the comments here -

Voice acting and animations - teh suck, just like Oblivion, using the same goofy voice actors (Burke). The animations look the same too, with everybody's arms rigidly at their sides, with a minimum of movement or expression (My deltoids are paralyzed!).

Ka-ching!

STALKER, another post-apoc setting, is much more varied and interesting. Everything seems to be uniquely designed, not copy-and-pasted like this. And the combat is pretty good and challenging (most of the time), which doesn't look to be the case with FO3.

Well the action is kinda slow ( like you could see from the E3 demo ) and the A.I is not that great ( like you could also see from the E3 demo ). This coupled to sucky animations makes it a rather mehish FPS experience.

I thought about it for some time now, but i still don't get it. Why does Todd think it's a good idea to show off all these nuclear cars exploding, since even beth fans don't like them. Even worse, all cars seem to be explosive.

I wonder who was the genius that came up with the exploding car idea....

What bugs me the most is that it *could* be a good game, but they just ruin it.

That first video actually looked quite good. Right up until the stupid robot flew by with an annoucment from the president of the enclave radio.... Followed by 5 bullets into a car causing a nuclear explosion.

And my god, that music will get old FAST. What happened to dark ambiance? I don't want to listen to shitty 50's music the whole time I'm playing...

They're hoping the lowest common denominator will be hit. Apparently that excludes both us and Beth fans :P

and, i still cant identify WHY fo3 should be a bad fps. there is too little combat to watch - you cant even judge any ai moves due to its shortness. alsoplustoo, i dont know any game with really exceptional ai. some are good (fear, crysis, pimped a-life ai in stalker), but not exceptional. ai being central to a good shooter, id like to know what made you able to identify this as a bad shooter?

So can I assume you never played Oblivion?

Some of the models are pretty low poly count (like the vault door frame and cave walls), which is actually somewhat surprising. The textures look like they're from 2004-2005. Compare that to Mass Effect.

Its just me or the railgun has a choo choo train whistle going on after each shot?

I liked the scoped weapon though (was that a magnum?).

it doesnt make too much sense that an old reactor filled with mostly depleted nuclear material should explode when shot at with small-caliber weapons. even a hot-and-running one would need some time under fire to develop a critical mass by melting up when the coolant systems are shot down. the only effect you might expect after hitting it could be a dirty bomb effect if some auxiliary systems blow radioactive material into the air (as it happened in chernobyl).

but: it looks cool!!11eleventeen

damn, i should have quoted suaside on this. he said he thought fo3 looked like a bad fps. i do have my suspicions about the radiant ai making combat piss-easy (ive played oblivion a bit and lost interest faster than you could say "overhyped!"). but nothing in the vids gives proof to either assumption.

meh, the rail gun choo sound is the pressure release to me that fires the gun. Its a high powered pneumatic gun, there is going to be a "choo" type of sound.

my remark on the shopping mart shelves was in response to a previous thread where people were throwing a fit about the idea that the shelves would still be stocked with items.

Again, it looks good to me. It also seems very FO to me. Not as FO as 1 and 2, but close.

Most colors in the original were brownish.

there are definitely problems, but so far I like what I see.

BTW, the combat is already better then Oblivion based off the fact that you can actually QUE moves rather then swing at everything retardedly.

One thing i noticed (compared to oblivion...) is that the world seems a bit more lively. NPC characters make comments, use body gestures, react to some events. Of course that might have been set up purposely, but if it's an indication for what we will see in the game, i guess it's a pretty good addition.

after reading many "sigh" comments or "i'm disgusted" and really really really bad sarcasitc comments (that are not funny.....in any way possible, seriously give up the comedy angle. Its simply not working for you) from the usual suspects i'm still happy with it. I think it looks pretty good, and i think i'll enjoy it.

Overall quite impressed.

Mostly quite good to me. I'll probably be tweaking some of the sounds but overall I was happy, especially with that radscorpion.

As to people complaining about the guy saying "zombies", what is your problem? It's an insular enclave of prejudice assholes. The ghoul on the other end is quite unhappy with the description.

ever shot a nail gun, a potatoe gun, or a mortar? none of these come close to the choo choo train sound.

they added it for "lulz". and it'll get mightily annoying, i can assure you.

Ghoul = not zombie.
just because the guard calls him a zombie, doesn't make him one.

seriously, the first time you see a ghoul, you'll think ZOMBIE! while they're not related, they look alike. enough for some people to call them the same.

You mean the railgun comes with a whistle that makes choo choo sounds once the pressure is released? its sounds like a locomotive to me.

Also i plan not to use that radio ever, maybe to get quests but it completely ruins the sense of loneliness having a guy talking out of your pipboy, let alone the music.

I liked the super duper intro music.

I think the gravity is a little off too, the guy took a headshot at the market and did a somersault and the guy who hit the ceiling of the market just went way too high for a grenade hit.

It's a bit hard to hear over Todd, but the last thing the ghoul says is, "Who the hell are you calling a zombie?"

That's cool, I'll go back and listen to that.

Thanks for catching that.

Much like in the Resident Evil movies, not once do they refer to the infected as zombies, even though they are most definitly that...

Wasn`t it somebody from Hollywood? From the videos i get the feeling they try to produce a cinema movie and not a actual game. Without those scripted sequences there isn`t much greatness left.
