Northern parts of the country are basically Hungarian/Romanian - largely because of proximity and many years underneath Austria-Hungary.

Besides, according to history textbooks and anthropology analysis, southern Slavs were mostly ginger/blonde people, pale complexion and tall. I know very few Serbs like that who don't have Germanic origins. The whole original genealogy is pretty much lost.

I'm not sure if you've gathered from my posting here on NMA, but I'm from Serbia. I used to love screwing around with my countrymen saying they've descended from Ottomans or whomever just to see their reactions...which were sometimes very colorful.
I also used to troll Serbs online (who didn't know that I'm a Serb too) with the same rhetoric, which, (un)interestingly enough resulted in similar response.

Well, that "old troll" got boring over the years.


That being said, I do not ignore the fact that modern Serbs have (most likely) descended from the particular tribe of southern Slavs, but given that the Balkans is...well, Balkans, and that, for all we know, only Cthulhu hasn't set his foot and seed here, wrecking, murdering, conquering, raping and pillaging everything in the process like everyone else, I think it's safe to assume that the whole "slavic" element in genetics of the larger population is mostly lost or marginalized, being overwritten somewhere during the course of history.

Of course, that doesn't bar the "slavic" cultural identity or heritage, and I understand what you were getting at with the original post. I just thought I'd fuck around a bit.

Posts like yours are why I think there needs to be a new term to refer to people who "troll" non-maliciously. I know the term originated from people who would say provocative comments to spur on discussion, but the modern context of the term is anything BUT that. But I digress...

I actually had that discussion a few months ago with some family friends, which is why I felt like engaging in it again, today. So I wasn't even aware it was a joke. XD

Well, I wasn't sure how to label it in the first place. I decided with the "troll" because...I do not know, it seemed somewhat fitting. But yeah, I agree, there should be another term for this. I guess "joke" is a too wide a term for adequate application.
In retrospect though, my "trolling" attempts like this often turned into malicious, highly-abrasive and above all, unnecessary conflicts, which is the reason why they started to bore me, despite being fun at first.

I'm always open for serious discussion though, so if you'd like, you can always send me a private message. Or open a thread, if that's more to your liking.
If anything, I find the topic interesting and I don't really have many people to discuss it with.

Not to brag, but I spent one day a week during the warmer months (from April to October) for the last two years hiking and specifically trying to find, photograph, and identify wild fungi. The cap just serves as a structure to hold the gills. The gills produce spores to spread and reproduce. So it's worse than you think.
