Ah so like a "I know she's pretty but it's not so special as everyone makes it out to be" sort of way?
Yeah, pretty much. I'm a bit pickier when it comes to men but when it comes to women I have a very broad spectrum of what I consider beautiful.
What do you mean by a bit pickier with men? If you don't mind explaining.
Bisexual. There are certain physical characteristics I don't find attractive when it comes to men. I like 'em either really 'manly' (tall or bear-like, preferably a lot of hair on their chest and face) or those really girly looking guys. There are exceptions that are in between but like I said, I'm picky. I don't like it when their facial features look too... Boyish. Like they still look like a late teenager with their face. I also don't care for skinny guys except for when they are very very feminine. I don't like guys who have saggy pants. I don't like guys that look like they're uh... Club-goers. (overly fixated on being stylish). Lots of little things that turn me off. I used to be really picky with women too and very insecure about my sexuality but over time I've outgrown those insecurities. I've had the most time to work with broadening my perspective on women's physical attributes and it'll take me a while to reach the same level with men. I'm less picky when it comes to trans-men and trans-women though. Dunno why. Might be because a lot of men's personalities are so unattractive that it affects how I view them physically as well. Whatever, it's a work in progress.
Anyway, uh... Probably should get back on topic.
So, can mods "fix" Fallout 4? Well it depends on how you want to fix it. Do you want to fix it to be more of a Fallout game cause that shit ain't gonna happen. You can fix SPECIAL all you want to, even try to add back skills if you want to but the dialogue is pretty much fixed. So unless you opt for a non-voiced dialogue you can't really add any dialogue in as you won't have access to the same voice actors to record the new lines. So any quest resolutions you come up with that are very different from the standard quest resolution will either have no dialogue or it will have that weird silent dialogue that comes out of nowhere which breaks immersion completely for me (I'm reminded that this is part of a mod and that it isn't really a part of the game). So why bother? Why even bother trying to "fix" Fallout 4 as a Fallout game? It isn't a Fallout game and no matter what you do you won't make it one.
But there are other things that can be fixed. Fallout 4 on its own merits has flaws that could easily be fixed. Overhauling the balance of weapons and enemies. Expanding on the settlement system. Maybe adding in new traps and stuff. Pretty up the aesthetics. Tweak the perks and SPECIAL to be a bit more fun/balanced.
So it depends on how one wants to fix Fallout 4. On its own merits it can definitely be fixed. As a Fallout game it is a lost cause and I honestly don't even see why anyone would want to attempt to salvage it. If you're really aching for real Fallout content then take a look at the Van Buren fan project.
Now, if someone were to find out a way to change the combat into turn-based and alter the perspective to be isometric then one could scrap the entire voiced dialogue and replace it with text-based dialogue. You do that and you could add or remove dialogue freely. Add into that more dialogue options and the option to reduce it from 4 to 2 if you so want to then even better. At that point you could go around and retcon Fallout 4's retcons and try to fix any other dumb shit that's around Fallout 4 (like the old timey-ship with rocket thrusters that flies... I'd change it so it blows up. Fuck those robots). The reason I think isometric view has to be implemented is because it just looks weird when you have text-based dialogue in first person. It would take me out of the experience constantly. And turn-based would be a must for the isometric view. I think it'd be one hell of a lot easier to develop a balanced turn-based system than it'd be to alter the real-time system to work from an isometric perspective.
But... That's like... A LOT of work. I find it hard to believe anyone would want to go through it. But the only way I'd bother getting a bunch of mods to try and "salvage Fallout 4" is if those mods are quality mods. And a mod that adds in new dialogue that has no voiced lines that contrast with the vanilla product's voiced lines is not what I'd consider a quality mod. It'd just feel weird and out of place.
