Mind you, I think Fallout 4, the idea was to steal more from Fables than Bioware. The idea you could create your ideal power fantasy household instead of actually a simulation of a realistic relationship. Mind you, I think Cait would have been open to a poly relationship with you and Hancock or Piper but I don't know if they would be.

Then again, they can't simulate a monogamous relationship let alone a poly one. I think the only one they ever succeeded with was Dawn Star and Silk Fox and the Monk.
 
There should've been an option to engage in a truly fucked up destructive relationship with her where you just allow her to super indulge in her addiction and she takes you down along with her. That would've been so messed up. Then again, that wouldd require any of the characters not being two dimensional cut outs.

While I tend to think Obsidian is somewhat overrated, I can't help but note, yes, they did do some awesome games. One of my favorite collection of romances in a video game was definitely Alpha Protocol which is probably the greatest bad game ever made (and I only say that because everything involving the gameplay rather than the plot, characters, and changeable events was boring).

In Alpha Protocol there's four women you can "romance" and each one of them is radically different in how and why.

1. There's Mina your Mission Control who is seemingly the sweet Girl next Door who still looks like Lucy Liu. However, she has a wickedly perverse sense of humor and you get to win a lot of approval from her if you're a dirty joke telling jackass in addition to being a consummate professional and patriot. She's also someone who does some truly atrocious things in the name of national security.

2. There's Madison, who basically looks like an adult Ashley Graham and is the Bond girl of the week kind of girl in over her head. Madison responds well to treating her with reassurance and that this is no big deal because she's scared of her mind but is actually really offput by a cold professional. Also, she's eventually horrified and WILL dump you by the danger of your profession--unless she's killed.

3. There's Scarlet Lake, who is a Lois Lane like investigative journalist and loves Bond-level flirtation but she's actually PISSED OFF if you keep things shallow after you get to know her for awhile as she's not interested in a shallow relationship. Also, you eventually discover she's got her own dark side which can end the relationship or get you in serious trouble.

4. Finally, there's SIE who is only interested in sex and violence. You only get her on her side by being as shallow and psychotic as possible because she has no respect for men who don't act like complete assholes. SIE is also middle-aged which is also something you don't see very often in games.

Plus, there's a neat bit in the game where you can admit you don't actually have an honest bone in your body and just manipulate people by saying what you think they want to hear.
 
How can you be overrated when your games are so good? If anything they are underrated. You praise Fallout 4 yet say Obsidian is overrated. My brain hurts.
 
Guys, this band of niche genre of music that has only put out 2 cds in 10 years and whose members struggle with finances is so overrated. Justin Bieber tho, he is fantastic.

Because Obsidian has a history of turning out games which are only half-finished? Alpha Protocol is an awesome game thanks to the story as well as characters but it's gameplay is terrible. KOTOR2 was a complete disaster everywhere but themes which took years of dedicated fan work to make playable. Neverwinter Nights 2 was average, then awesome, then average again. Also, reports are they treat their employees awful.

Basically, Obsidian has done some amazing games but I remind you it's also screwed them up to.

I hear KOTOR2 was a disaster a lot. I wonder if they played it on PC because I never had a problem with it on XBOX. Because I thought it was better than the original by far even with all the cut content. In this day and age people defend Bethesda for buggy games yet flame Obsidian for it. Yourself included.

KOTOR2 kind of exemplifies Obsidian if you think about it since it has amazing stories, themes, and characters but 90% of the game takes place in space station corridors or caves with the first section being a completely abandoned space station with no sidequests vs. KOTOR1's Taris.

And bugginess is generally why I buy games months after release.
 
I don't think CT Phipps understands what the word overrated means.

Well I mean overrated in the fact everyone constantly sings their praises here and ignores their flaws. I say that acknowledging New Vegas is my favorite Fallout and one of my favorite games of all time with no real flaws.

So more side quests makes a great game now I wager? No, no, not proper debating there let us try that again.

So KOTOR 2 isn't that great since they had less time to make a superior game and it didn't pad out the main quest with lame side quests? Fuck I messed up again.

I guess Fallout 4 wins by a landslide. Damnit!

I thought Fallout 4 was a fun game even if it's the weakest Fallout after 3, NV, 1, and 2. Nuka World is probably the only thing I really loved about it.

That and Piper/Cait and Nick.

KOTOR 2 has a lot going for it and is much better. Just I point out its embellic about Obsidian's flaws.

And shouldn't we be discussing ugly characters?

I'm sorry, New Vegas is listed alongside Portal by me for as close to objectively "perfect" games as can exist.
