Bethesda's Lore Recons

He's right

Not really. It's not about realism, it's about consistency and verisimilitude. And while Petey claims that they care about consistency it's very clear that, well, they don't. To him, one shouldn't look too closely, writers should be allowed to have fun!!11
That's just terrible writing. It's the kind of shit that happens when your setting is either not thought through or you don't understand your own setting enough to follow its rules consistently.
But yeah, let's just throw all good writing out of the window. Fallout: Equestria might as well be canon now, because writers are allowed to have fun!

Can always count of ole' Petey Pete for a good laugh. Also, I did that quest with the ghoul kid stuck in a fridge...fuckin a man. It was just as bad as I heard.

Everything (almost) is as bad as you've heard.

Speaking of bad I entered a one room church, what purpose did it serve you might ask? To kill a couple feral ghouls and a named somewhat sane ghoul sermon, there was no reason for it to be there and I wasted a couple seconds of my life in there.

Most of the locations are like that.

The worst part is this writing is actually taking itself seriously. They're presenting this as if it is serious writing. It's not even self aware.

They're not really taking it seriously, they explicitly don't give a shit.

Oh and sorry for the double-post but I'm not allowed to edit the previous one for whatever reason and I found this tweet neat:

So, what the hell does Pete consider to be "super-important lore and consistency", cause I haven't seen it since, what? Morrowind?

I thought you've made a good points until I found out that you've just twisted Avellone's word that him agreeing with Ulysses means it's a canon ending. Not to mention that Josh Sawyer, who actually still with Obsidian now when Avellone had left, support the idea of Civilization will rebuilt itself. Jesus, you just presenting opinion as fact and presenting incomplete information to make your point sounds like the truth.

That does mean its the canon ending to Avellone, I never said what Obsidian as a company thinks is the canon ending.

So i'm not really sure what the hell you are talking about.

Ah, the classic fauxpology. ‘Sorry that YOUUUUU didn’t like it!’ Splendid damage control there. If he were truly sorry, he’d offer the franchise to competent designers and not continue using it to acquire even more yachts and hookers.

This isn't the right topic for this particular subject, but this topic is about the criticism on Bethesda's Fallout 4 so I will post it here. (and it is sort of a retcon).

Just South from Boston while I was fighting some raiders, some Gunners came by... FLYING A VERTIBIRD!@!%*!
Yes, a prototype VTOL plane which was still in development before the War, perfected by the Enclave, and reverse engineered or captured by the NCR, the Shi, and the Brotherhood (West Coast and East Coast versions), is now also used by a bunch of mercenary raiders that are barely literate and able to use use a degree of technology (perhaps just able to use a computer, but knowing how to repair one or know what an Operating System is).
Seems it doesn't take years and years of study and training to fly a plane, let alone one that can vertically take of and land. All those flight schools and degrees you have to have are just a scam to prevent the common man from flying a plane, reserving it for only a handful of people.

Yep. The Boomers, they had training by virtual simulators so they can fly. But a group of raiders? Hah.

"It's video game, anything goes!!!"
The fact that people use this excuse to pardon inconsistent and ill-conceived world-building is just baffling.

He's right
Wrong. This mindset is sure to severely damage the writing of said game.

Because it's the only excuse left.
How hard is it to understand that a game does not need to be "100% REALISMZ" to create a believable video game world?

Not so hard, it all depends on the game worlds rules. I keep saying it, but make your rules, and for god's sake FOLLOW THEM.
