Censors force Fallout 3 changes

No problems with this; the original games didn't use real drug names either.

to anyone who played fallout and actually understood what the chems did, "med-x" sounds like it increases your protection against "meds" floating in the air, much the same that rad-x would increase your resistance to radiation.

And then common sense comes into play and we realise, infact, that this would obviously not be the case.

Actually, I rather like numbtats. It is nice and descriptive and serves as a decent counter to mentats.

I agree. Pain-B-Gone is also pretty good. Med-X feels... well, lame. Somehow. I mean... Stimpaks! Buffout! Mentats! Psycho! Jet! Afterburner! Rad-Away! Rad-X!

Cool names, eh?

But Med-X? Sounds... not bad, but not as cool. They should've a contest to select a new name.

Dune for the win!

Anyway, it won't matter. The modding community will just change/add the drugs and their effects to match Jet, Mentats, Psycho, Buffout, Rad-X, RadAway, and of course the Stimpack. And add killable children and prostitutes into the game. Assuming, of course, that Bethesda eventually releases a Construction Set. :(

Med-X looks on par with the other drugs to me.

Yep.

Seems a little more like they just grabbed onto a random naming convention to copy without thinking about it.

Rad-X 'X'es (blocks) Rads. Does Med-X 'X' Meds?

I really don't see any difference, and I don't see why someone will nitpick this. Sure, nitpick about other things, but something like this? Nah, name's fine, it's going to stay that way too.

Rad-X blocks radiation so obviously Med-X blocks the use of medicine....just like morphine?

I thought morphine was supposed to be a painkiller not a drug which stops you from using all other drugs.

Oh well, bethesda has already proven that they have a superior concept of logic from the children of the atom quest.

Isn't Afterburner Gum a Tactics drug only?
I liked that one, actually, so I wouldn't mind it if it was included in FO3.
Also: FOT had another drug, I think it was called Mutie or something? They should add that one as well.

More drugs = more fun.

It was introduced in Tactics, but also used in Van Buren. In Tactics, it had the exact same stats as Jet, in VB it was made more unique.

I haven't played tactics, I only wrote that one as I copied/pasted his list.

I might play tactics in the near future, just to try it out.
