Desslock and Fallout combat/viewpoint

Speaking of Desslock:

"Oblivion improves on its predecessor in almost every way, especially in creating a living, breathing world. Based on my experience with the beta, I think Bethesda may be on the brink of releasing its masterpiece."

Sorry to repost but....

Hope someone can get a hold of him and find out, is he really in a position to know something like this anyway (how)? As far as I know he only stumbled across Concept-Art, and if he did get a good (as in any reply of substance) from Bethesda then is there anyway I can see it?

The thing is, everything you hear from another person may or may not be true, which is why I never posted what I've heard from Beth developers in full, so asking Desslock is kinda pointless.

Let's wait and see. I'm sure we won't have to wait long.

RPG of the year!! said:
Considering that Desslock says TES: Oblivion is a superlative RPG that achieves more than he even thought possible, I think it's safe to say that he's speaking from below Todd Howard's waistline(with Pete reciprocating). I calculate a 50% probability that he's lying through his teeth, a 40% probability he meant that it has veriable camera angles much like TES:O, and a 10% probability he failed a comprehension role versus Briosa.

safe to say? based on what?
assuming what you say is actually true(that he's speaking on behalf of todd) maybe you can speculate that he's not telling the truth.
but is he? or i'm missing something here? so if he's not, he has no reason whatsoever to lie.
anyways, based on that article he posted about bethsoft's fallout 3, you may not agree on his point of view, but the guy definitly has a grasp of what fallout 3 should look like, and he's not a total idiot, so it's "safe to say" as you say, that he did understand what briosafreak said.
but yeah, you can conclude a few posible theories on what he tried to say (and the first one which screams at you is "guess what, you thought fallout 3 is going to be RTFP? well you're wrong! it's not!")

Wouldn't that be great? I'd love it if that were the case...

...

The fact that I'd love it if that was true does not make it true.

Sadly, hope does not mold reality.

Based on Desslock being surgically attached Bethesda's throbbing meatstaff + 2 of enchantment, and Pete Hines repaying Dessie for the service by(hilariously) calling him "one of the most knowledgeable RPG guys anywhere in our industry" in an interview with Business Week.

Fun fact; treat reading right and reading will treat you right. Oh boy!

Never said that's what he meant. I said that that's the first thing jumps at you. or maybe it's the first thing because we want that option most :)

and hope DOES mold into reality, sometimes :)

VDweller, any chance you can give me a link to your post of what you did wrote of what you heard from the Beth developers?

RPG of the year, does he work there? NO. does he get officially payed from todd? not that i know. so your "safe to say" assumptions are rendered irrelevant. last time i checked, what's convinient to be true for someone to make an argument, doesn't make it true.

I was told that the game is neither turn-based nor isometric, among other things. I haven't seen any screenshots, but I tend to believe the info.

lol random thought just popped into my head

what if all along the game will be 3rdperson over head and iso and turn based and all that

but they try to make everyone think it will be rt/ and or FP so everyone besides the already established Fallout Fanbase will want to get in on the game. (cause we'll be able to tell if its good or not)

fuck

actually, that was the best news i ever got drunk
sry if you just answer by misgiving, but i just came home and read this message and a massive batch of hope overcame my mind

i really hope this statement suggests a progression of F3 right into the proper direction

but, in fact, scepsis is unfortunately the way to effort

"We have pretty long preproduction phases on our stuff," continues Howard "doing concepts, design, building prototypes, and such. We should be ready soon to show it off, but we'll see."
True, their preproduction stage is rather long. Maybe they're taking more classes on 'soil eroshun!'

You're thinking Beth is going to release a TB game on xbox?
nice dreams.

Shacknews interview on Fallout 3 with Pete Hines said:
Shack: Speaking of Fallout, is it being handled by essentially the same team as the Elder Scrolls team?

Pete Hines: The answer to that really has to be yes, because we just have one team.

Shack: Right.

same shitty team = same shitty gameplay

:rip:

The guy is sitting inside Bethesda's office while reviewing Oblivion.
Which mean Pete and Todd were pointing shotgun at his head

I loved both the setting and the combat [of Fallout]. The turn-based combat is definitely a huge part of its appeal to me, although it was much better in Fallout 2 because the friendly fire was a little less annoying and you could change the equipment of your companions. But I loved that combat - it's also one of the reasons Jagged Alliance 2 is one of my favourite games, and the systems are similar (although JA2 has none of Fallout's problems).

... And he claims to know more than most about F3 AND seems to remain excited. So possibly, the combat is not real time. It doesn't mean that it's Fallouty or even good. That's something he definitely doesn't know but it's still a good sign.

Oh yeah, it can also be bullshit and he might not know shit.
