Devil May Cry

Never read the comic, didn't even know there was one. And all those promotional comics that come with games are always inconsistent with the source material.

Multidirectional seems to take that as a particular stand out moment for Dante when every decent person would have done the same.

I thought I was giving reasons why I don't think he's a douche. Are you saying that Dante doing what every decent person would do is a proof that he is, in fact, a douche? I might've misunderstood what a word "douche" means then.

I alredy agreed that he isn't a douche. Ok, misunderstanding on my part I guess. Peace & love.

Yeah, but at least the ending with [spoiler:0ab2078ee0]Dante going all berserk with veins popping out, red eyes and all that jazz seems to directly reference it[/spoiler:0ab2078ee0]

The comic is horrible, by the way.

Just for the record, not copying the (dubious) reference material directly hardly constitutes a "plot hole". Just sayin'.

You are referring to Vergil [spoiler:4bb381cd8a]having feeling for Kat in the comic and not in the game?[/spoiler:4bb381cd8a] I guess plot hole is the wrong word, is just bad/inconsistent writing on one side or the other.

^ Yeah, that thing you said. I don't actually think that it's inconsistent or bad, because it makes perfect sense within the game story. And I don't really see why the game has to copy the comic by the letter. As Walpknut said, they tend to be sh*t.

P.S. I think the fact that it's possible to actually have a fairly lengthy discussion about the game's story speaks for its quality. I mean, try to have one about any of the previous games  So I say kudos to Ninja Theory for actually putting effort into something beyond a bare-bones plot to get you from one bossfight to the next.

The comic and the game make sense by themselves (well, not as much the comic, the synopsys I read is terrible), but when you put them together -as everyone should since it's canon and as a matter of fact explains a couple of things the game doesn't touch- troubles arise.

So yeah, bad writing on the comic side for the Vergil-Kat thing, bad writing on the game side for letting the explanation for the DT in the comic.

Actually it doesn't. Personally I'm debating why I think the plot is nothing great, for example. :S

You can have a lenghty discussion on why something sucks.

I did, multiple times in the past. Admitedly only for DMC3, that game has a very good plot for an action game. The sequel was a mess.

So I say kudos to Ninja Theory for actually putting effort into something beyond a bare-bones plot to get you from one bossfight to the next.

Mhhhh.... :eyebrow:
