What is this madness... no dedicated Diablo 3 thread? Horse shit.

I've been playing Reaper of Souls a lot of lately, mostly running T4-T5 with a few friends and in public games. I'm playing wizard and I run a disintegrate/archon build with mirror images and black hole (event horizon). Event horizon is arguably one of if not the best group support skill wizards have and it seems crazy so few people use it. Basically the rune makes it so black hole sucks up any enemy affix that's within range (frozen, poison, arcane sentries, etc). We ran a 3 wizard group last night with event horizon and most packs spent the entire fight clustered in one pile and completely harmless since everything they laid down disappeared almost immediately (3 wizard black holes plus 2 mirror black holes). Most wizards complain about losing damage from possible sparkflint or some other skill but you gain so much more in my opinion just by making it so people spend less time dodging affixes or being dead.

Also managed to get hold of a moonlight ward courtesy of a friend who already had his, now I'm dropping crazy close range arcane damage with a disintegrate that ticks over 30 million damage on a crit:

I picked up a royal ring of grandeur recently but don't have enough Tal Rasha's to try that vyr/tal build with meteors. Could use an OP 2400 DPS one hander of some kind. A wand of woh would be amazing or a good sun keeper.

There's literally three threads below this one a thread called 'Diablo III'. To be fair it was only started yesterday, but still.
The madness is within you, Korin.

Might as well just combine the threads, @Korin

For me personally, after spending ~380 hours on Diablo III, it was time to contact Blizzard. I had them disable Diablo III from my Battle.net account, scramble the password and put in rubbish information for the email address. I have too much fun with Diablo III. :silenced:

But hey, I had 75% of the D3 & RoS Achievements completed. Woo!

Korin clearly you prefer Wizard but just for the sake of trying it, you should check out Crusader. It's a fun class to play. A bit overpowered IMO, for example the first two skills are 380% and 760% weapon damage on hit, respectively. O_O If you play on Normal diff you can basically one-hit everything and three-to-five-hit all the champions/uniques. It's comical. I think it was like 10 hits to kill Act bosses.

    Here are my chars: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/GVD-2418/hero/36860835

My monk build a bit weird since I ended up with mostly +physical dmg.
It's a bit silly that it doesn't display your ingame toughness etc, since it's quite misleading as is. I can survive T6 most of the time now.
-25% dmg from elites, -7% dmg from everything, good resistances, immune to freezing or immobilizing effects. Also have an amulet ready in my inventory to be immune (and be healed by) arcane damage suffered (but costs me 20% dps).

The set bonus of Asheara is better than you'd think, since once it procs, it gives you a templar healing you twice for a lot of HP, has the enchantress charm a mob, has the scoundrel blind an enemy and on top of all that my templar's weapon summons a fallen champion to come help out. I guess I should give my enchantress a Maximus so she can also summon more fun playthings.
Quickly gets crowded that way though. Sometimes my monk feels more like a goat herder than a monk.

My wiztard is respectable, but don't play it much. Probably should equip it properly though crafting since I'm sitting on 200 forgotten soul.

Man, you cray cray... there's only the one thread and it's not as general! Embrace the thread.

I have no doubt that crusader is super fun to play but I can't afford to sink anymore time into another class, haha. I'd never go outside again. What are you playing now since you shut D3 down? That explains why your thread disappeared, I never did get to add you to my friends list.

Nice dude, that Doombringer is hot. I love cyclone/palm monks, they're great for pretty much any group.

Well, my weapons have added arcane & lightning damage which are kinda wasted, since my primary +damage attributes are all +physical. But haven't found better so far.

As for usefulness, yeah, monks make good helpers. Hence why my serenity is specced to protect others as well as myself, etc. In T6, I tend to sport the dodge aura to lower damage received for everyone in the party.
My damage output still isn't as good as I'd like it to be though. :)

"zDPS" monks are pretty hot right now too. The "zero dps" monk that does damage mostly through exploding palm and everything else is stacked into buffing, debuffing and controlling mobs. They existed before RoS but they're still boss. Especially as a disintegrate wizard pretty much any teammates that can keep mobs situated in one place so I don't have to constantly move can really amp up a group's damage.

    Pfffft, productive.

Used to be like that before RoS. Back then resistances & lifeonhit/lifesteal were king. I could take all the damage and keep mobs pulled towards me.

Right now, it doesn't look like I've got enough resistance for that on T5/6 and lifeonhit is nerfed hard. I still do plenty well, since I've got 13 mil toughness etc, but not as good as before. :)

I liked my old build better. Attack speed focus, lifesteal/lifeonhit, heavy resistances.
Now I need to do more damage to be worthwhile for the team (although exploding palm almost guarantees that I end up getting credit for killing 75% of the bosses).

Shortly before I shut down my account, my monk found the Legendary that increases Exploding Palm damage, in my case it was from 50% max life to 83% max life.

    Death for all >:D

I found the 96% one. But it really doesn't matter that much. Normal damage for exploding palm is 50%, this is increased by the damage type increases, so basically I already do about 80%. Since mob types tend to be similar, having the 96% would waste a lot of damage most of the time and I'd have lost about 20% elemental damage increase by swapping the weapon.
If you tag two mobs in a group with exploding palm, you pretty much guarantee already that they'll all explode. So the added use of 100% dmg is somewhat limited. It's good, but not godlike.

So I gave it away to a friend in my party that also has a monk as an alt.

Ahhh fair enough. Yeah, even the "only found on Legendaries"-type abillities, unless found on a lvl 70 drop, eventually become worthless/obsolete. Statistically, most of the Legendaries I've found that had unique abilities didn't make it to endgame, because eventually I found something that had such higher Dmg/Tough increases that it just didn't make sense to keep the other one.

That being said, I really like what Blizzard has done with them in Diablo III. It's always fun when items do things that nothing else in the game does. That's how unique items should have always worked, in my opinion  Having stats or abilities or combinations of stats or level of stats that you'd never see on normal/rare items.

It bums me out that none of the 3+ item Sets have a full set bonus. That is really stupid and defeats the whole purpose. The very last item (full set) in 4/5/6 item sets never adds further bonus. I don't get it. Completionism should be rewarded!

Anyway using that item reminded me a lot of playing a low-level Barbarian using Cleave with Rupture: since it's 160% weapon damage and it "chains", I've had to kill mobs of 20 or more monsters with one hit. If you are playing on Normal difficulty and have decent gear, it's hilarious. You just run around making packs of monsters explode in a puff of blood-mist. Good times. I love Cleave and Exploding Palm. And Chain Lightning on Wizard, for the same reason. Are there any other such skills I'm forgetting? "Mob exploders".

I wanna know what Adria's true motives were. She starts talking to Leah like she wants to be a family again and truly does feel 'motherly love' for her, but then all of a sudden uses her to summon Diablo.

So was her "true allegiance" to Diablo and the Burning Hells? Or did she think she could use a transformed and powerful Leah to her own end to establish herself as some kind of Queen/Empress?

according to the game, if you follow the story line, yes D3 has one ... , then this decision was not sudden. And Adriah was as subtle like a hammer to the head. I didnt payed any attention to it, but she was not a very well written character. Not that D3 had many of those anyway.

I'm surprised anyone had time to notice whether the storyline was good or not. 100% of the people I played with online would speed through the game, completely ignoring anything even resembling story content. This was even true with, for example, people playing Act V their very first time after the expansion got released.

Was this the same with players in Diablo II? I wouldn't know as I never played that on Battle.net (i.e. Go through game as fast as possible, ignoring all story elements and focus only on kill/loot/progress/repeat.)

After completing 75% of total Achievements after RoS released, I can say for absolute certainty that for me, playing the game slower and actually experiencing all the story content is a more enjoyable game experience. As well as playing on Normal so that I can kill stuff really easily ;) There's definitely some pleasure in powerleveling and achievements and all that, but I think playing the game normal in both senses, is a better plan.

I cant talk for other players, but I loved the story in Diablo 1 and 2. Particularly since the story never came in the way of gameplay.
