Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Come on people, if you dislike to game so much, why bother with it?
I'm highly interested even in the negative opinions, if they are constructive.

This is exactly my point. Most of the latest posts are about not liking Todd. I know why, but I am more interested in how the game turns out, not if the main guy behind it is a douche bag (since we already know that).

I fully expect to get a few hundred hours out of Skyrim and enjoy the shit out of it, but there will still be problems.

You can criticize/hate on something and still like it.

I mean yeah, a lot of people are only doing the former and probably won't do the latter, but I imagine there's some (other than me) who will do both.

Back to the trailers - is there no kind of dialogue lines or audio for the conversation with the smith? Couldn't notice any.

Special ? It is just the typical Oblivion-wack-a-mole all over again just with finishing moves.

Dammit, son, that's not whack-a-mole. Whack-a-mole or more popularly popamole is a descriptive term for the cover-based shooters that have plagued consoles and thus PC for some time now.

Well excuse me that I am not a pro-gamer used with all of the terms Mr. BN.

Just saying that our Todd didn't really evolved over all those years. Thats my feeling anyway.

Hatin' on teh interwebz lets people vent their anger, making room for patience IRL. Internet forums make people kinder!

with drinking its probably just one or two beers or bottles of whine you can collect.

Reference to rape ? probably just one of the "ancient" elder scroll stories.

Sometimes I have to wonder what people actually think about their children when you consider what they learn in school about the holocaust. The pigs killing the rabbits because they wanted their carrots ? Already most "fairy tales" contain enough hidden "informations" to sex, rape and all that - don't believe it ? Well the brother Grim tales have never been meant for children actually. Children or to say it that way "young people" see those parts all the time in the media and it never is any problem. Well maybe not the reference to "rape" but most talk shows which you can watch are worse then that ...

its a Bethesda game. How much of questionable "references" can it have ? Not much I assume.

There was a pretty neat reference to rape in Morrowind. I can't remember what the circumstances were exactly but I think in order to join a faction or something you had to undress in front of a dude. I doubt it's anything like that though.

Man you're negative.

There's to be a drinking contest, somewhere, from what I've read and the rape stuff is probably a thing that happened sometime in the past events.

Oblivion had lots of different vintages of wine you could collect, actually come to think of it's all my brother did when he played it.

That was advancement in one of the guilds or houses I think.

strange enough when ever I read posts of die hard-oblivion fans collecting random "stuff" (like garden gnomes ... or forks) seems to be a huge appeal to them.

For some reason I also was collecting books and weapons in Morrowind.
No idea why, but hell - that thing was kinda fun. You know - looking at your impressive collection, stored in taken-by-force house. :D

How old were you? From personal experience, most people have way too much free time through the end of college, so that could explain something.

Sooo, playable demo in Paris, some French guy played it and, lo and behold, he is doing something else than praising the living hell out of it. His english is horrible however, can be a bit hard to understand. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1244351-i-tested-skyrim-at-paris/page__st__60

For starters, third person animations are apparently still horrible, numerous bugs (old build admitedly) and, my own favourite, mounts take damage before their riders. As in, if you shoot an arrow at a guy, his horse takes the damage instead, same for the player. If this makes it to the final version, I will laugh my ass off. Mount and Blade probably had about 1/100 of Skyrim's budget, yet they could properly implement mounted combat, while Beth seemingly cannot. This just confirms the ''new'' Creation engine is just another spruced-up Gamebryo, with all ye olden quirks and limitations still alive and well. The only thing I kinda like is that we can adjust our character's bulk, I hated having frail wizards sporting toned bodybuilder muscles.

Really, this feels like Oblivion WITH DRAGONS!! to me from all the info (not just this preview). Lame combat system is still there, and that alone cuts any sort of enjoyment I could have by half. Will wait for mods and an eventual sale.

I collected weapons and books in Daggerfall. I remember how happy I was finding a never before seen book in the game. I did similar things in Morrowind, but in the end, I seemed to have ended up collecting mods with the pretties things. I also had fun collecting companion mods, because it was somewhat hilarious for a group of people to follow you around in quests. They also help block line of sight for stealing quests. I had to abandon my collection on house mods since it screws with the games too much. Some of them were crazy and fun though. There was a Roman style palace with all the marble floors and famous paintings and such. Canadian Ice's undersea mansion was nice to look at and convenient in game too.

Those were fun days. :P
