Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Does somebody know how to pull out arrows frommy body? My character hs been going around with an arrow halfway into his arm and another one in his leg for a couple of hours now, not even reloading orsleeping is making them disappear.

Same thing happened to me. Either use console for sex change, which fixes it instantly, or get shot by arrows again by someone, and they will disappear.

So far after 20 hours, if Witcher 2 did not come out this year, Skyrim would take my GOTY. The game is fantastic and I could give a rat's ass whether it is considered by someone "proper" RPG or not.

Have played it a few hours. It's in no way an RPG but it's still better than Oblivion by a lot. I really miss attributes and custom spells but the addition of crafting makes up for it.

Sounds exciting! I've yet to complete Oblivion, but the biggest reason I hate that game is combat. Level scaling was so horrendous.

God, the quests annoy me so much. It seems like every fucking quest is sending me to the far away whatevertown.

If I look at my current questlog, I have 8 open quests and all of them want me to go to a far away place. Even quests that seem to be local ones are sending me to some place far outside of the current location... Man, Bethesda... if I want to explore in your game, I do it. You don't have to send me across the country, so I can "accidentally" stumble over your dungeons.

I made a drinking game in a town in the bottom right corner of the map. It ended with me being totally drunk and after the black screen, I was in a town in the top left corner of the map. The hell man... can you pass through whole Skyrim when you get drunk once? It just makes no fucking sense. Fuck, Bethesda, think about it. Just think about it. Does this make any sense? It makes none, just none.

Bleh.

Whats an ember dagger? Do you mean ebony, if so that may explain why it's so easy to kill stuff.

Its basically dagger that deals 10 damage plus sets opponents on fire,(+5 dam) and then it deals bonus damage to opponents that are allready on fire (doesnt say how much). I found it really early at the game.

Now im starting to hit opponents that are bit tougher to deal with, like necromancer adepts in packs of 3 and bandit leaders with 2-3 grunts. Met one giant, didnt try to fight it yet. i also met this weird tree looking elf thingie that has bees all over it at bloated mans grotto. Didnt have any chance against it. Killed me instantly.

If I'm going to get it, I'll wait for the inevitable Game of the Year edition.

I'm already starting to develop a backlog this year.
Yeah that is a safe bet that there will be a Game of the Year edition.(If Fallout:New Vegas is any idication.) So I might pick it up then. Anyone here heard anything about DLC yet?

Todd Howard said they will be few but solid content-wise (large) .

Yea, it's pretty much Fallout 3 with swords. Why have they raped Oblivion so much... oh wait, that's wrong.

Great game, playing on pc, great textures, some sub par shrubberey up close, much improved animations, only the jumping, swimming and step climbing feature the well known Bethesda woodeness, and I really like the removal of classes.

Dont get me wrong, I love me a ton of classes and stuff ala NWN, but in Oblivion I'd always choose a class, then never use the weapons that class specalised in, whereas in Skyrim, i'm essentially making my own class as I play the game.

Good system of options with the stormcloak v legion civil war and the crafting system is superb.

8/10. not much of an rpg though.

Letz say you buy a bicycle by your vendor and he delivers you some motorbike with the statement that it has as well 2 wheels. Would you complaining about it as well seeing as "nitpicking" ?

Hmmm, odd response, considering what I wrote. Having said that, if I knew better to expect a motorbike from a particular company instead of a bike, and I liked the kind of motorbike they made, I would not complain.

I don't play TES games for their RPG-ness, and neither should anyone else, in my personal opinion. Considering what fans of this series (or past two games rather) like them for, all the complaints that I have heard so far about Skyrim seem to be nitpicks.

Aaaaand another physics goof. Gotta love the Havok engine.

Played it for a couple of hours, it's by no means an RPG but a cool action adventure. Combat is actually very hard for me, I died countless times (fucking wisps or tigers).

The enviroments are truely beauitful, the music this time is really good too. Hell I even enjoyed this "epic orchestra" music when fighting some dragon up in the hills (which was fucking hard and my companion and my horse died) - it just seemed to fit very good.

Really surprised so far, let's see how long it lasts. :D

I have spent tens of hours on this game already and the most I'd give it is 7/10.

It has ASSLOADS of problems with things like the AI (think Oblivion style, no improvement at all since 2006). I've also encountered quite a few bugs myself, one of which has stopped me from proceeding in one of the (non-misc) quests altogether.

The main disappointment is how after Oblivion they managed to dumb it down EVEN MORE and completely gut almost every familiar "RPG" aspect of it until it was just an Action/Adventure with a couple of stats (and when I say a couple I'm pretty close to the actual number there). A grand total of three attributes! A new low from Bethesda.

And on the other hand, a lot of it surpasses Oblivion by quite a bit. The atmosphere is nice, sure, but the sloppy textures and general laziness in map design in some places leaves a lot to be desired. Excuse me if I can't get by with some snowy weather effects and a polygonal mountain to keep me interested in the "deep atmosphere".

I should add that the UI is absolutely fucking awful. Remember Morrowind when you had all of your menus and inventory screens on one page and you could see everything at once? Well now you have several hundred different menus and pages to navigate through every time you want to switch an armor/item/weapon/spell or look at something in your inventory. This is assuming you don't use the utterly lazy "Favourites" menu which is bound to Q by default, which is just a big clusterfuck list you can't even arrange to your liking. When you have your 1-8 keys bound and your favourites menu full you really see how bad the interface can be. Yay consoles!

P.S. I've made some videos showcasing the bad AI and general bugginess, if anyone is interested.

I was desperately hoping for AI improvements with the new engine (alas, I should have known better that it was too much to ask). If Fallout 4 isn't going to be a deep RPG, then Bethesda is seriously going to have to understand that they need to make a new AI from the ground up so that it can at least pass for a decent shooter. They can learn a thing or two from the Ukrainians on how to make good AI in a shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world.

And, I'd like to think that the guys at Bethesda aren't *that* pompous to not implement at least some of the cool stuff Obsidian put into New Vegas (skill and strength requirements for weapons, the DT system, speech checks that aren't percentage based to discourage shameless save-scumming, an emphasis on reputation rather than karma).
