Well, unless a major fuck-up happens vs Sweden, France is pretty much qualified. Not in a very hard group, mind you, but at least they will make it past the group round.

This match is crazy. Neither team is all that good, I don't think, but Sweden is showing more than I would've expected, and England less. They even needed bumbling Isaksson's help to score.

It's been a pretty fun UEFA Euro so far. Much better than the world cup. Sweden is producing some of the best matches :)

I dreamed of Portugal-Netherlands tonight. Portugal got an early penalty. Which Christiano Ronaldo rammed home. Then the world exploded.

True facts:
- The Netherlands has beaten Portugal only once.
- The Netherlands has scored twice against Portugal only once, a 2-2 tie.
- Ned-Por series since their first meeting in 1990: 0-1, 1-0, 0-2, 0-1, 0-0, 0-2, 2-2, 1-1, 1-2 en 0-1
- WC vice-champions are often taken out in the group stage. Netherlands 1980, West-Germany 1984, Italy 1996, Germany 2004 and France 2008 are all losing WC finalists that were knocked out in the Euro group stage.
- If the Netherlands is indeed knocked out, it will be the first time (not counting the 2002 non-qualifier) the Netherlands does not advance past a tournament group stage (WC or EC) since 1980.
- Bert van Marwijk is still statistically our best coach (30-10-7 record, +70 GD, 66.67% winning percentage)

Respect to Poland for the intensity but damn their strikers can't shoot for shit.

EDIT: Wow that referee really hates Greece lol. What bullshit decision

I'm not claiming there should have been a penalty but it definitely wasn't a dive that deserved a yellow card, not even close. I'd say it wasn't a dive at all, the guy's leg was clearly clipped.

What a joke Group A was. Greece is awful, and the Czech republic is the first European championship group winner WITH A NEGATIVE GOAL DIFFERENTIAL.

Yuck.

No, I mean when the defender caught his foot. I didn't see a dive at all there, especially not a yellow card dive. I am waiting for youtube to post some slowmos but to me it didn't look like a schwalbe at all.

Shitty quality but in slow motion it's pretty clear that the defender reaches with his leg and makes contact with the Karagounis' foot causing him to stumble. Whether he could have recovered is a different question but that was not a yellow card.

Doesn't matter at this point anyway. I can't figure Russia out. They play a game that makes them look like they have a real shot at winning and then they lose to someone like Greece. They did that last time too.

Happy for Greece, they may not have a team full of stars, but they know how to play together and they never give up.
A big part of Football is also about defending not just attacking.
