Who else could it be? :D

Question is who else should it be, and we end up with the Czech Republic.

That said, Greece has a real defensive tactics, and Portugal didn't play much different against Holland. Man, this might be a mighty boring match.

But for all I know both will go all-out. Go Greece!

Kharn, who should be is a nice concept, and likely great for vacant afternoons when one wants to play a different "what if?" game, but unfortunately, there's not much else to do now. I'm sure teams like England and France are also thinking the same.

But let's face it, there's nothing to be done now. It's Portugal vs. Greece, not "hey it shouldn't be Portugal" or "Greece played badly so they shouldn't be there". It's two teams, who under the circumstances did their best, and won their place today, just as any other team would have won their place if they were here today. Unfortunately for the others they didn't, these two teams did.

So can we have less bitching and more cheering? Thanks.

I'm not speaking in what-if terms, I'm making a statement about who is, results nonwithstanding, the best team of this EC. This is the Czech Republic. Results nonwithstanding.

That said, Portugal will win. Sad but true.

And it's not like I'm not cheering. I'm cheering on Greece :D Gotta love that underdog.

YEAH, 1-0 to Greece, excactly what I were hoping for, now Portugal have to get offensive to score goals! But ooo, you gotta love Greece! :D :D

Fuck this. It's pretty amazing for Greece, though. They played very well, and had the edge. Portugal had more chances but less team work. I'm surprised that Deco and Pauleta were a part of the initial team, which is pretty weird given their overall lousy performances.

Still, congrats to Greece. They won, and they deserved it :)

WOOHOO, they won, they actually won!!!
I were cheering for Greece but I weren't sure they would win!
Ooo, what a championship!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
And what a final to close it! :ok: :ok:

They played their game: defensibly, trusting on an error by the adversary. Portugal was all heart but no head, a mistake they’ve been making since the beginning of the Euro.

Pauleta I agree, it was preferable to put Nuno Gomes or even Postiga from the start, but Deco? Of course that Deco should be on the starting eleven, he played fantastically during all the Euro, and is by far a better creative medium them Rui Costa, who can only play well for about 20 minutes. Maybe he didn’t played as well in this game, but so didn’t most of our team( like Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo or even Maniche): physical fitness and endurance counts a lot.

And on the Greek goal, what was Ricardo doing grabbing that greek player

Well, damn. And the Olympics in Athens are in a few weeks.

Here's hoping all Greeks' brains explode from the sports overload.

I disagree. While Deco has been known to be one of the creative ones, his creativity on the Euro has been lacking, at best. Everytime i see him grab the ball, he's falling to the ground mere moments afterwards. I think he's the player that loses more balls in the team. His fitness and endurance are not the same, sure; but while that is understandable, what is not understandable is placing him in the team when these problems are visible. Rui Costa did two excellent moves after he came in; Deco... i can't even recall what he did. Ronaldo and Figo did some good moves as well, although the later part of the executions were flawed.

Again, Deco was all over the floor, or losing balls. Note, that i'm not doubting his skill, or hiw worth to the team; i simply don't think he was the right choice for the initial team. Postiga or Petti would likely be better choices, as far as i see it.

Hmmm.... mansecks.

Think about the second half on the first game against Greece, the game against Russia, both the games against both England and Spain. Deco is fantastic on holding the ball and making short and direct passes to other offensive players, creating great opportunities. He falls down is when the team needs to hold the ball and win fouls, I admit that today he wasn’t on his best of forms, but I repeat: nor did Maniche (for me: he and Ricardo Carvalho were the best players on the squad in whole the Euro) nor Figo (who couldn’t keep up the pace of Seitadiris so he would just claim it was foul nor Cristiano Ronaldo (so many misses).
Postiga wasn’t an option, or we would have to play a 4.x4x2 with no real creative midfielders and Petit is a good player for deconstructing the opponent game, useful when we’re winning to hold down the other team.
But all offensive players were very tired, our style of game is very heavy on their legs, and we saw that coming against Holand.
Greece on the other hand, while playing a defensive game, counter-attack game, doesn’t expect so much effort on their players, keeping them fresher…

But hell, we0ve lost but most of all we organized a great Euro. Even UEFA says it’s the best ever, so we win!

And what is Portugal without a sad story for a Fado?
