As for merit, meh. Portugal was favourite, but I knew it would depend on how well we played more than on how Portugal played. And we cracked too much by the (good) first goal.
Still, we bit in and fought and have a match to be pretty proud of (and you can't really say the same for Portugal), moreso because of how it breaks Dutch traditions than how it ended or played out.
