Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

I have been playing around with the car trunk bug and I'm now quite sure it has something to do with Vault 13 or something in it.

Every savegame I have after I have been in Vault 13 can't be opened with Fallout 2 Inventory Editor, as it says the inventory is corrupted. This really sucks as the GECK and navigation chip thingie for the tanker are in my trunk :?

But then I loaded up an old savegame last night (From the same "playsession") where I had not been in Vault 13 yeat, got the car and played for four hours and everything works just fine.

I'm going to do the NCR and Vault 15 quests tonight and see if I can recreate the bug.

So I would like to ask you: what other mods would you suggest to install along your Restoration Mod concerning both technical compatibilty and gameplay compatibilty?

So, any suggestions for this?

My NPCs (sulik and Vic) change armor fine, but look _exactly_ like me after changing Armor. So the b-team mod seems to be working for me 'sort of' (darn it).

Any ideas how to fix this? preferably, without a clean install or start over? (details below)

The expansion seems to be working fine otherwise. I am really excited about this mod, but playing with clones of myself is no good ;).

I did an F2 humongous install to a fresh directory, (may have) applied 1.02 patch, used installer version, nothing else. In that specific order on Vista. No "patch000.dat" exists.

I used "fallcrk2.1" to edit a save game (in klamath), the program removed my armor before cracking the savegame. Only edits were upping carry weight if that matters.

I tried manually placing the b-team NPC scripts (killaps versions). Didn't change the issue.

Any healp is greatly appreciated!

@Viking_john
Do not install the Official Patch, it's not needed.
Install killap's Restoration Project via the installer.
The only mods that are safe would same to be Cassidy head and Damage Mod.

Thanks for the reply.

If the 1.02 patch was installed before Killaps restoration (installer, all mods selected), does the 1.02 patch still interfere with killaps Restoration mod?

update:
I was just able to 'reverse' the B-team mod by using the original CD's versions to overwrite the modded versions of the NPCs .int scripts, so at least my clones are gone. However, I would like to use the B-team mod (seems most ppl get it to work well enough).

Then things are going to break for you. The NPCs scripts that come with the expansion have other changes as well.

Also, I am not sure what what the problem is. NPCs will change appearance to whatever armor they are wearing. If you are wearing the same armor, then yes, you will look alike.

Wow, the spell checker in Firefox is getting more and more aggressive!

The Cassidy talking head must be interfering with the NPC appearance mod. With the talking head installed Cassidy will not change with armor. After reinstalling with B-Team only he changes fine.

Maybe the installer needs to be configued so it installs them differently, Talking head first, then B-Team. I may be way off base with this though, but they do conflict each other.

Just install the expansion after a humongous install. Report any problems you have, in as much detail as you can muster.

Vault City, the farmer in the courtyard who gives you the quest to buy the plow no longer provides you with a reward. He used to give you an assault rifle (i think) and now he says he's giving you the item but it doesnt show in the inventory.
He gives you a desert eagle.

Ah, then it's all good. My mistake.

Vault City, the new village area with the molerats. This may be part of the quest. But after the VC security guy says that he's sending a battle group there since you wont do it, no battle group shows up. Waited 2 weeks and nothing.
You waited 2 week at the village? Did you try and leave and then reenter?

I traveled for 2 weeks and returned. I spent 3 days in the village though. Went back to VC to see if there was anything in the conversation with the security guy that I missed and nope.

In Modoc, Rose only offers omlets. All the other dialoge for her menu (brahman fries for example) are missing.
Odd, never heard that one before. Got a save game you can send me?

Actually I take this one back too. gracul mentioned the "Idolized" issue in Modoc and that was the problem. I talked to her after saving the town and doing all the other local quests.

In the EPA. When traveling from the Utility level to any of the first 3 sublevels via the left and right most elevators, the game crashes.
I tried this one about 6 times with each elevator and every time it crashed the game to a black screen and a error window that couldn't be seen as a result. I had to ctrl-alt-delete out to close fallout2.
This is a known problem that not everyone is having. I am thinking up a workaround for this issue.[/quote]

Ah good to hear. Keep up the good work. I love the mod so far.

@Killap
Good to know about other stuff breaking, thanks. I'd hate to figure that out the hard way.

Will the NPC and I look *exactly* the same (same .frm or whatever the appearance file is called)?
I thought the B-team mod made Vic wearing leather armor look like Vic in a leather jacket, not look like an exact duplicate of me. At least thats what I saw on a b-team related wiki somewhere.

Also, I must say that this is astounding what you have accomplished!

@wastelandhero
I'd try uninstalling the Cassidy talking head mod, but I don't know how. Guessing that its removing a particular group of files in \heads.
Or, can I use killaps uninstaller, then reinstall the installer version w/unchecked mods?

Wow, what wiki was this? Vic will look like a male in a leather jacket, so not necessarily like you in a leather jacket. This has nothing to do with the Expansion.

Yes! If you haven't made any manual changes after installing the Expansion using the automatic installer, this is how it's supposed to work.

Yes that is what I did, Read post, It says that. Cassidy changes fine without the talking head. Just move your save game to the desktop before you do any un-installing.

This was the page I saw and why I assumed the NPCs would look like themselves, only wearing X armor.
http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/NPC_Armor_mod

are those images not what the b-team mod does to NPCs? If not and I assume too much, sorry for my confusion wasting your time. I do appreciate the help in any case.

Also, thats for the tip on the install/uninstall. I'll try that.

So how is the hint book and vault 13 computer fix going, I tested my self to fix it but the game just crash on me then I do.

Other then that i have had no errors i then game.

NO w8 i had one, after killing all the gangs in new reno and going to vault city, there is a man there that ask me if I have delivered the bag to bishop, but I have never talked to this man before.

Many Thanks!

one more question...

My Fallout 2 is patched version... After first clean installation of game at lower right in game menu screen shows version "1.02"...

Therefore should i delete or rename patch0000.dat before installling expansion 1.1 ? Or this is not necessary? I read somethings about that forum pages...
Thanks for your help... sorry for my bad english :(

it seems like a large portion of these problems come from people not installing the expansion correctly and not reading the readme. if Killap has taken so much of his time to put this together, you folks can at least read the fucking instructions and stop waisting his time.

If this seems unprovoked I apologize; but it must be maddening for Killap to constantly be troubleshooting his code when the problem is on the user's end. My suggestion? Edit the first post, be generous with bold type-faced instructions.

Killap: my two non-kaga 'bugs' were indeed from initiating conversation before they did it themselves. any way to set the radius larger or put in some kind of contingency in case others do that?

Just to follow up on the ranger/NCR/slaver quest bug, when I went to the slaver camp early in the game, I snuck Sulik's sister out without destroying the camp. I went back later to wipe out the camp as a ranger, with backing. Killed the camp, got a "you wiped out the slaver camp" message, but the quest won't complete when I go back to the ranger NCR chick.

So it seems like it doesn't matter whether you wipe out the camp early or not...
