@killap: any chance to *fix* change-game-difficulty abusing ?
What sort of 'fix' did you have in mind? I could quite easily make that difficulty setting only take effect at the start of a new game, if people agree it's something that needs fixing.

the "fixing" it is questionable, that's true

it would be either:
- checking starting settings (unfair if changing difficulty later)
or more preferable by me:
- changing skill-writing-sequence (while changing skill attribute) checking always with normal/easy level of skill

In second option it would look like that:
Skill level when you need to put 2 skill point to get +1%
Easy: 120%+
Normal: 100%+
Hard: 90%+
Same coming with books (now they help up to 100%, with this it would be changed to 120%/100%/90%)

I don't think fixing this should be a priority as if someone would like to use this exploit, he could resort to other techniques (like reducing stat points by using alcohol and the withdrawal effect of drugs). I think fixing this would either need serious work or stupid compromises.

Not sure if it is RP related but did not happen before:
I cannot leave Vault 15, everytime I am trying to leave underground (lift or ladder to Zeke) I end up with black screen and globe (mouse indicator for loading that stops moving)

I'd post these kinda things in another thread, but I'll try and answer ;)

sounds like it can't load the place, maybe you uninstalled/installed too many mods, or unpatched during game, if thats the case, reinstall whatever you uninstalled, and if it still doesn't work, you might just have to reload an earlier save

you do use multiple save slots?

I'm just making some educated guesses, sorry If I couldn't be of any help. Oh and awesome work killap, been looking forward to the mod

That sounds like the "Too Many Items Bug". Check out the link.

Thanks a lot Darek! That did the trick, stupid bug ;)
I had 7 of those items (+some of them multiple like sprays)

So after fixing the maps I suppose it will break again :/ but thanks for info, will ditch those item soon :P

EDIT: apparently it was 11 items + 5 holodisks ... !

Can we have a little news on the RP?

Should we expect the release in a few weeks? Days? Hours? Minutes? I'm not talking about a deadline. Just a rough estimate.

Thank ye.

@Killap

One thing I would like to request:
Is it possible to change the models of some special NPCs to highlight them or match their looks to the describtion.
Like Thomas Moore, who is decribed to be a well dressed man, but looks like a bum.
Or maybe the head of the Wright family. Or Bishop, etc...
This always bugged me. Would it be within the realms of possibility or is it just to much trouble?
What do you think?

I believe that's something he could do quite easily. However, it's not a question of how hard it would be to do it, but whether or not it should be done in the first place. The original developers must have chosen the models they did for a reason. The models are so low detail that you're forced to use your imagination to fill in the blanks anyway.

However, if a model is highly contrary to the in-game text (i.e. some of the boxers in New Reno are described as white when the model is obviously black), then perhaps it's something that could be considered as an oversight (or, as is likely the case of the New Reno boxers, they simply didn't want to bother with making a unique model for one or two insignificant characters).

Hi Killap, I have a very small observation & question. It is well known that within the game, stimpacks weigh nothing. You can collect hundereds of them and they do not encumber you. Yet hypodermic syringes, which are a component of stimpacks, weigh one pound each. If you are collecting syringes for Myron to make into stimpacks, they have weight, but the finished product (filled) weighs nothing. I am not able to play the Restoration Mod because I have a Mac. Is this something you have addressed, or will address in the Restoration Project? BTW, I plan to buy a PC in the future to play your mod and new Fallout games.

Hi Again Killap, In the FO2 patch forum I posted the following question:
I have noted what seems to be a small problem in Navarro running your FO2 patch. When meeting the sergeant, he orders the Chosen One to report to supply to get a suit of advanced powered armor and report back. When you report back, the sergeant puts you on guard duty in front of the vertibird hanger. According to the game guides, this guard duty is supposed to last 6 hours, then the sergeant relieves you and you're free to move around after that. Under your patch, the term of guard duty never ends. You can't "sleep" at that location (which the Interplay game guide says you can). I have tried bringing books for the PC to read to make game time pass quickly. I have even left the game running on the computer for up to 36 hours. This guard duty never ends. Is this something you are aware of? Will there be any further updates to this patch?

Darek replied:
This has never been in the game (unpatched or otherwise). There is nothing in drill sergeant Dornan's script and text file about this (and no speech file either). It may have been planned at some stage and then scrapped, or then Matt Norton (official game guide) remembers wrong. Again
I wouldn't mind seeing this implemented, but if so that would probably be better suited for the Restoration Project.

I can't really answer for killap, but I know there will be at least one more update of the patch.

Is this something that you will address in the Restoration Project?

On another subject; in your Patch, I have also noted problems with the battle on level four of the Military Base. When fighting Melchoir and his "pets", the game is subject to crashing, especially when Melchior is killed. It seems like this happens when Melchior throws his "seeds" into the vats, and he is killed before the pet emerges. The game then crashes during the combat round after the pet appears. Is this something that you have addressed in the Restoration Project or will address in an updated Patch?

Slow progress...but gettin' there. Since nearly half the city I live in is closed tomorrow (Monday) because of the major snow storm that hit the east coast of the US, I hope to make some good headway.

It's something to consider but nothing I plan to do at this time.

I don't plan on changing weights for any of those items.

This has always bugged me as well with the game. It will be addressed in the upcoming RP release. This will not be part of the separate unofficial patch though.

I think it is only fair to allow Killap to concentrate on completing RP 1.3 before considering any further improvements. Character appearance choices will always be a matter of personal preference. I prefer for instance not to screw with the game too much, individuals can always grab the official mapper, learn how to use it, and modify the game to suit their own unique needs. That’s what I did.

As for weapons, items, or factors that seem inconsistent … well… that’s Fallout.

haaa. Thanks for the post.

Slow progress is still better than no progress at all. :)

wow. They're gonna close the city? Now it's obvious that Winter wants the exclusive rights of your RP. :P

Haha, oh man, i was thinking exactly the same thing as i read your post.

Anyway, looking forward to it Killap!

Yeah and a giant finger wrote "GET A MOVE ON." on Killap's wall. Guess it's official, we got ourselves a savior :)

Anyway, I hope you packed on coffee and glucose-rich food before they'll close the city, Killap, since you'll need them to work late DAY AFTER DAY.

Is it possible to make it as an "optional" feature in the installer?
