Hehe, yeah Christmas 2008...I remember that deadline. I'm tired of breaking deadlines, but I can promise that you don't have to wait much longer.

On an unrelated note, I have a question for everyone. Does anyone recall if Hakunin's dream sequences happen ONLY on the world map or they can also occur when the player is in a city? I honestly cannot recall and knowing would help me pinpoint an issue I've run into.

I've always saw it on the worldmap. But I would guess that it can happen in a city too, if you fast-forward via PipBoy clock.

I've always seen it on the world map too. I've only now noticed it in cities and I've run into a problem where the dream sequence plays, goes back to the game and then the screen goes black. Only for a split second do I see my character, etc before it goes black. I can hit escape and go back to the main menu, but I don't see any in-game stuff. Basically, this seems to be an issue of the fadein code not running but it clearly ran as I saw my player. Hmmm...I need to test this more.

I confirm it as well.

Incidentally, killap. I've run into a bug or whatnot when I finished F02 with unofficial patch. When I was back from oil rig standing in the harbor the message from Elder appeared and the game ended resulting in a main menu of the game. I believe I accidentally might have killed Elder (grandma) on the ship. Do you think that's it or is it some bug? I cant recall the message in a video now (Something about hope lost).

I think a dream sequence popped out when I was transiting from different parts of town (e. g . from The Den east to The Den west), I'm about 90% sure about it.

Well, not so long ago I slept in NCR to get the work (caravans between ncr and redding) and I dreamed about the hakunin in the city :/.

Well, about 99% of the in-game time passes while in the world map, so there is about 99% chance to have it occur while on the world map, correct me if I'm wrong.

I may be stating the obvious, but just check when does it occurs and wait for that day to come. Make sure when it comes you're in a city. You mat first test it by travelling, then write down the date and test it in other ways. Most likely, you're alread came up with that idea.

That could possibly be a hi-res patch thing, if you narrow down an instance try it with and without the res patch and see if that makes a difference.

Yup, it is. I just tried it with and without (vanilla Fallout).

Anyway, the first Hakunin sequence will play at midnight on October 23, 2241. It will do so anytime time passes, world map or in a city don't matter. Just hang around waiting or do some action (like grave digging), or use the pip boy. If however you are in a dialog window at the time, it will postpone the video to the following midnight.

That is one of my hypotheses.

I've concluded it isn't an sfall thing, as I still run into the problem without sfall. It isn't easy to test the res patch though, as it changes the save game structure. I've still got some other tests I need to run through to come to a better conclusion.

EDIT:
@Darek

So, you ran into the black screen issue?

It's odd though since I only had it happen so far at the EPA. If I'm on the world map, it's fine and if I'm in a random desert map on the world map it's also fine.

Yes I've had it too. In both sides of the Den. (Only places I've tried except for the worldmap, but unfortunately I won't have more time to test tonight. )
And since I tested it on the official 1.02 patch we know it's none of your doing.

what fires it?the engine?

edit : probably the engine, too bad it isnt a script, then you could just add (in_world_map) from sfall, eliminate the bug

The Hakunin movie problem was a hi-res patch issue but I think I have it sorted out. I'm uploading the new patch to NMA so it should be available in the Files section shortly. In the meantime here's a link to the patch on Mediafire.

Edit:
The new version is now in the NMA files section. Link can be found below in my sig.

Oi! Killap!

I had this idea when looking up Sulik's speech files. There are a lot of unused speech files for Sulik's floaters. I got a confirmation that Sfall supports floaters with speech, so would it be possible to restore Sulik's floater speech for maybe RP 1.4?

I would support this if it were done in 2.0, along with anything else that is still left unused.
I'm not fond of teasers, eg. downloading one version of RP, and then reading the rest of the things that were left out being planned for the next version.

Why not make this version with everything that can be recovered from the original Fallout 2, along with all the discovered bug fixes? It makes sense.
