Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.1.2b (Unofficial Expansion)

When it will happen is anybody's guess. Killap has a life and a day job, and he works on the RP whenever he gets a chance. What will be included is mostly bug fixes. The restored content is complete and playable. None of the bugs currently present are game crashers, just minor things that Killap wants to address. There will also be a few map updates. Pixote or one of the others working on the RP could tell you more.

The upgrades are minor enhancements - the Den and NPC have new BOS underground rooms, a few new critter animations, etc.

I hope its done about a week before DX H+ is out. That way I can spend a week on Fallout 2 followed by a week on DX followed by months and months of life destroying work.

Considering DX comes out in less than 2 weeks it could be difficult unfortunately. Nevertheless, I'm also eagerly waiting for new RP iteration as do many people (despite activity on this board clearly not reflecting it as of lately)

I doubt its going to be, but one can hope for 2 weeks of uninterrupted awesomeness. But alas, I think it will probably be ready sometime in september at earliest. Besides, I think I can live without the awesomeness of RP!.. But... Only barely! xD

Guys, the RP is playable as it is. The restored content is long since finished. The bugs that exist are small and not game crashing. Load it and start playing :D. Killap has a life and fits modding in around the edges when he can. He is continually posting his progress with the bugs on the RP wiki. Feel free to follow his progress. http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Restoration_Project_bug_reports

We all want this to happen. Killap :notworthy: will finish it. A virtually bug free RP will be worth the wait. (I say virtually because they still find vanilla bugs once in a while) Wait we must until the work is done. I can wait. Sure, I can. :aiee: I've been waiting for years. :wall: It will happen. :help:

Since I got interviewed by NMA (and I've been away for so long) I thought I'd stop by. :) Anyone care to summarize what all has happened here over the past 2 months? Both RP related issues and new artwork news is welcome. I suppose I could take the time and read through everything myself, but summaries are always appreciated. :D

I haven't done anything with the RP for some time, but as I said in my modder interview, there is a release coming. When? Can't say. This year sounds reasonable though. Who knows, maybe I'll try and match the date of the last release in my signature. No promises though.

EDIT: The bug wiki hasn't grown too much out of control. That's good. I do see a very large section about caravans. Thanks to Darek for looking into all that. I only skimmed through it, but definitely good stuff there.

Hi Killap, cool interview. The last two months in this forum is only 5 pages. Not a lot going on lately. Occasionally someone will try to report a bug and someone else will refer them to the bug wiki. The only issues of potential consequence that have come up here since your last visit are the magnum, or possibly it's custom sound, causing a random CTD, and a few reports of animation problems with the bald dude and long haired dude.

Oh, there have been a couple of infidel blastphemers suggesting that someone else should finish the RP. Sacrilege! You know the game and the RP better than anyone. No one is better qualified. We know you will be able to finish it; just a matter of time. It's great to hear from you.

Been a long time and cool interview indeed.
Not a lot of bugs to report anymore, the game is quite steady now
.Pixote has some artwork for you i guess.

Hi all, when I heard about the restoration project I immediately acquired it and installed FO2. But I've been looking around for a list of changes, apart from the first page of this thread, is there a list of the changes? I mean, does it include the armour mod I found on the fallout wiki?

To think I'm still playing through FO3 first time round.... what fun to do this one again....

hi guys, big fan here from south east asia, i need help about RP, cant find so far any solution about the save game issue after installation of RP... thanks to killap for this awesome mod even tho i finished fo1 & fo2 a lot of times already i want to play this game again after this patch/mod was out... looking forward help from u guys about my issue

pm me for solutions pls

@ killap, I'd advice you to look through the forum pages yourself as you probably missed something/don't remember everything. Those caravan bugs are older than two months... and it's much easier to read that here than on the wiki (at least that's what I think).

Stop with the drama will you. That is far from what happened.

@ chiro, Do you mean this problem?

If you are saving the game for the first time with the RP and you see the following message: "Error saving game! Unable to save game." this means the master.dat file was not properly patched during the install process. First, make sure you have the master.dat file in your main Fallout 2 directory. Second, make sure that the modification date on the file is around the same time you installed the RP. If you do not have the file, find your installation disk and manually copy it over. If the modification date is not correct, then download the manual install of the RP and follow the instructions in the readme for applying the "batch" files.

Caravan bugfixes would be awesome< I love doing caravan runs and it always disappointed me that they break so quickly. Chad for prez.

Minor problem:

When I encountered the Enclave vertibird assault team after using the Gecko reactor control computer to contact the Enclave, the encounter map has the descriptions of "Arroyo Desert" -- even though I was nowhere near Arroyo.

I am using the version 2.1.2b.

Hey; I'm a newcomer to the RP; seen it a lot but i've been hesitant to download it until recently, and I (quite literally) just finished the game. Just wanted to congratulate you on your work, and say that I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. Definite improvement over the vanilla and even the 1.02 patch.

However, I don't think the game is supposed to crash when you read the hintbook for the first time, is it? It goes dark as if I'd successfully read it (to signify time passing) but it never comes back; Upon further investigation (aka Task Manager) it turns out the program is Not Responding. I've tried this three times, all with the exact same outcome.

Is there a solution to this, or did I just waste about four hours when I could've been asleep? (It's like two in the morning right now.)

Don't worry about the hint book - just start the game anew with a fresh character. After you whack the Enclave there is really nothing left to do in the game. The hint book is meant to be a joke, the super item that maxes out all your stats.

As for the crash - I think it's been mentioned before, but just in case go to the Fallout RP Wiki and leave a description of the problem with Killap, a saved game would be helpful as well.

thanks darek i just recently tried this last night, but it still doesnt work T_T

First I want to thank to killap for this great project

Now some issues :)

In Slavers Camp near Primitive Village, I killed all slavers but when trying to free Sulik's sister, the dialogue keeps telling that I haven't done that yet. I have fled the combat first time when I entered there, but I came back later and wiped them all, and freed the slaves in the fenced compound outside. I haven't noticed any slaver to flee outside the map visible area. I'm really pissed of this because I like to be a Ranger and can't finish their quest. Is there anything I can do to modify the save game file to be able to complete this quest?

In EPA:

A typo

Now I don't know if this is intended or not, but even if the electric chair is empowered or not, the lever does nothing, and I really want to fry Myron

And one last thing, in the room with all the holograms in the meeting room, when I first talk with tough guy, he asks me if I repaired the computer, but without any introduction dialogue.
