Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.3.3 (Unofficial Expansion)

I get the quest from Amanda, get Joshua released but forget to check back on her. later on when I become real citizen I do remember so I click on her... floating text only, not dialog screen.
------
Kaga is a bit batty encounter-wise.

I dont get the initial encounter at all even though I travel the Arroyo-Klamath-Den quite a bit.

I do get the 2nd encounter in the Bandit Pass, between The Den and Modoc. Considering the man got 600+ HP, with 3 more helpers, while I have only two companions on my side, I sensibly reload.

Since I plan to avoid THAT, I travel from The Den, downward to Redding. As I was obviously underleveled for that town (sheriff deny my help) I did what I can there, then travel upward to Vault City. Also doesnt meet Kaga on this curving route.

Complete a majority of VC and Gecko, now I travel back to Modoc, complete thing there, and back to the Den... No sign of him.

The "sex as payment" is before you take the quest not after, it's the same in vanilla.

Kill Kaga early or late?

I have his life in my hands and I am wondering: kill him later or now, which is better? DISCUSS!!!

Kill him now has the pro of NOT suffer him any more. His gang is pretty tough. I have to use ALL of my arsenal to get this success: my sole psycho+buffout!!! Late game I might have resource to deal with him, but might not, too~

Kill him later has the benefit of killing his henchmen, which equip pretty good~ I missed out on the 1st and 2nd so I regret, slightly and in hind sight. They would have been too bloody tough for me.

Note: 1st encounter I didnt ever meet. 2nd encounter in the Bandit Pass I circumvent by take a detour through Redding. This 3rd encounter? I drop car at Modoc, then on foot travelling through the Raiders area. Car is too fast to trigger him~

I don't know if this is an issue with the RP but I just banged the Bishop wife and Mr. Bishop didn't aggro on me when I entered his room. I even picked the "you're dead bla bla" option but no combat. I went to the Sierra Army Depot afterwards and neither the turrets nor the robots were attacking me either.
After that I came back and killed the whole casino and now everything seems to be working normally again. Turrets mince me as soon as I enter the SAD, as they should.
Weird huh?

EDIT - Also I just replaced the RP's sfall with the latest one. I overwrote the original ddraw.ini with the new one but then I went through each option they both shared and made sure the new one matched the old one. After I started the game I couldn't save on my old slots but since I had already loaded one that's not that big an issue. Also a red message going YOU HAVE OVERWRITTEN THE RP DDRAW INI appears every once in a while. Anybody knows how to stop this?
I guess my save will break at some point but whatever. The new additions (instant weapon changing/looting, full FPS world map, highlitable corpses and overall better stability) are worth it I guess. Wish me luck.

I think because you replace RP ini with other ini and RP really dont like it. Even if you copy pasta command in RP ini into the other. Thus the warning.

Possibly the conflict in RP with the new ini reflect in that weird behavior.

Either that or the guards in the bazaar right outside of NCR capital. Elridge has an element of randomness but not the guards.

I'm curious, where did you get the Bozar? Do they appear with San Francisco traders? It can only be found at the gecko mines near Klamath.
I got it from Eldridge after becoming a Wright made man. Luckied out big time there, such a great weapon.
By the way I love your work man, cheers.

EDIT - Also I've been meaning to ask someone with a modding background: how hard would it be to switch the pistols that have smg animations back to pistol animations? The .223 and the 14mm ones for example.

SMG animation is good because Sulik and Miria can use it. And you dont have to fear a burst to the back~

If you change that, Sulik would have no option in guns, what with SMG suck and Grease gun is waaaay later in New Reno.

Luck2 Jinxed Unarmed Gifted build
Middle game synopsis (New Reno, Broken Hills)

Jinxed make for a strange game, especially combined with Luck2. PC and everyone else, meet more crit fail events. Weapon destroyed, dropped, lost alll ammo, lose next turn...

Unarmed build is of least affected I think, with mostly losing next turn or cripple selves. Thus for Jinxed unarmed, Doctor is a must have skill to heal cripples if no doctor nearby. Jinxed melee and jinxed guns have more other type of crit fails so they dont have cripple as much, so doctor is not that in use. Mind you. there is a need for Doctor 60 (Living Anatomy) and 75+ (combat implants) so you still have to invest in it regardless.

With Jinxed, we need to invest in combat skill to 80 at least and only attack with percentage of 80+. Anything lower can run the risk of Jinxed crit fail~

Luck 2 mean we can not choose Bonus HtH attacks and Better Criticals, thus limit our perk option greatly. But as it turn out, Bonus Move (2) we chose to replace for them show its quality greatly. With 4 action points for moving only, we can situate ourselves at correct tactical position. Bonus Move is like Awareness, you will FEEL the difference of having and having NOT.

We dont have spare point for Lockpick so it limit us somewhat. Vic's shack require TNT to open or throw molotov/grenades to destroy, which can be a game stopper for a time. Sooner or later we would have to invest in it.

The lack of chem sellers before New Reno and Broken Hills also limit our option. The encounters around NR/BH, should we be unlucky which we are with Luck2, mean sometimes we need to use chems to survive a fight. With 6-7 raiders armed with burst gun, we can be shot to cheese. Luck2 does affect shop's spawning items, as I tested in Et Tu, and my situation explain why I get so few chems in shops.

Unexpected Result from Chad Skimming quest.

Chad skimming quest, one way or the other, lead to Chad's disappearance from Outfitter office. Bill stop sending out Broken Hills caravan due to Chad's not there to do the job anymore. Logical if you think about it: no way he doesnt know Chad jack up prices as his trade rep in those town, but he cant find a replacement for the jerk, so he gotta close both eyes to that skimming.

Problem is: I dont want to stop BH caravans. Cheap as it was, it's the logical alternative to NCR if you dont want to make use of Redding caravans (due to mistiming).

So I am holding the evidence right now, effectively delay the investigation indefinitely.

Solution? A line in Bill dialog effectively turn Chosen One into his temporary trade rep who take the caravans to destination towns. Imagine the BH caravans stopped in BH and only get sent out if you deign to wander into town.
----
On a note: this is different from darek's guide for RP. Darek say the caravans get stopped due to fear of poisoned goods from the result of telling Marcus about mutant experiment.
----
On another note: IF you tell Marcus about massacred people underground, the next time you talk to him with explosive switch in your inventory (from Jacob's second quest of blowing up purifier)...
Marcus automatically conclude the quest as if we just tattletale on them. Of course we are going to, but after MUCH MUCH later, because we need Jacob and his chem shop for now.
Workaround: drop the switch on companion's inventory. Doesnt work. Just dont report the massacre, is all.

Heavyweight championship of New Reno

1. No more increase in DT from fighting in the rings? Or at least I dont find any. So there's no good reward aside from the ultimate prizefighter tittle.

2. So the only "reward" is to kill xp from finishing off the opponent. Bloody, that. And in which case, there's no reason to lose, considering the alternative fighter after a losst fight is a measly 100xp. Masticator can go as high as 1000xp.

3. A Luck2 Jinxed fighter, even with tag Unarmed and up to 123 skill level, still have trouble to control the fight. unexpected crit miss lead to losing next turn, thus can change the tide from nearly beating to death a 4HP fighter into a loss.

Also a note considering Jinxed crit miss events: hit come with 85- percent can lead to crit miss. The lower the percentage the more it can happen. 85+ reduce it, and 95 is very rare to happen one. I am guessing a 1 in twenty chance, because I do have one happen. 4HP lying down on the ground, normal punch with 95% AND crit miss happen~

Boxing Fights in new reno in RP doo give bonus. but you can't loose.
+5% to normal damage resistance is all you het from Prizefighter title, considering you did not loose.

Besides Jinxed is an ocasional triat ment for hardcore players not for an everyday playthrough. as you get over 55% chance to crit fail on a missed attack. and even with 95% hit chance you're going to miss like 1/20 of attacks. so going with something below 95% chance to hit on a jinxed build is plain loonacy. not to mention you play with low Lk, which is even more penalizing with jinxed, since you get more severe penalties from crit fails, with implication on the worst ones from crit fali list more often.

As for the reno boxing ring than yes crit fail couts as a self knockout and you do loose. Jinxed is generally not a good triat to go with. But for some reason you are hell bent on playing with it, and keep complaining about it.

I am not complaining. It's honest feedback about an unique build that few people play. We've played normal luck, high luck/crit build to death already. It's boring to repeat them. Luckily luck2 jinxed provide an unique way of playing.
