Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Afther installing the patch, I have the rock near Flint who said that it's install but I can see on my map the Abbey or the Den residential area...
Is there something I've not done properly ?
killap said:Sorry, probably not. What don't you like about Sulik's sister? There are several sources citing she was supposed to be in the game and they just ran out of time. Why not include her and yet include other characters/locations that were not included due to lack of time?SorgFall said:Well then could you then consider this proposal please - splitting your "Fillup" pack to two different levels? And including the most demanding and 'new' things like Sulik's sister in this 3rd 'fix'?
Ah, good point. No, I don't know where she truly should be. I made a logical decision based on what Sulik tells the player though. So yes, I had to improvise here. Then again I had to improvise elsewhere. Locations like Abbey were planned, but no design docs were ever produced for them. Had to improvise there.SorgFall said:killap said:Sorry, probably not. But do you know where she was supposed to appear - or are you inputting it completely on your own?

Ok, I don't believe any of this was supposed to be in Fallout 2. The Fallout Bible never mentioned them (afaik) being intended nor are there any partially done files for them.SorgFall said:I thought about including Dayglow in the expansion, but as a new location, it would demand loads of work.
Maxson also sounds attractive, but unlike with Dayglow, the information provided is far too little to construct it, so I don't think it's quite possible.

Sure, there is much Fallout lore out there. This type of material is not something I will be including, however. My expansion, like I have said throughout this thread, is to include anything the devs wanted to include (ie they said, "yeah we wanted to do this but did not have enough time"). This includes areas the devs never got around to creating design docs for or locations/quests that were partially implemented but never finished all the way - ie cattle rustling quest.SorgFall said:killap said:Ok, I don't believe any of this was supposed to be in Fallout 2. The designers probably intended the two locations when they thought of the game, and never created them at all in the end. However, it is without doubt that they belong to the F2 universe.

Also, to answer your question above about why Sulik never mentioned his sister's name, well again remember that the devs were strapped on time. Since Sulik's sister was getting cut from the game I don't think they found the need to ask the guy who did Sulik's voice for more dialog.

If he asked 10 people what they thought should be in, he'd probably get 10 variations. So, I'm guessing the problem will be solved the same way it is always solved: the mod/patch creator (killap in this case) will put in what he has interpreted should be in there and what he would like to see.

Sure they might have wanted to include the Dayglow. Of course at first they probably wanted there to be 100 locations filled with NPCs all with their own personal dialog and talking heads. Uh-oh, reality and time constraints set in. My job is not to create a whole new Fallout 2 here. Like I have said I looked through the Fallout Bible and collected other tidbits of info where the devs said we were working on this and sadly "we ran out of time and had to pull them/leave them unfinished." I will not include things like "we had this idea at the beginning but as we got to work we realized it is not worth it/possible." Locations like the Abbey, Primitive Tribe, EPA, Vault Village already had specific locations on the world map as well as some basic outlines (the EPA more so) Thus, it is QUITE clear that the devs were without a doubt going to use these ideas but sadly could not get it done in time for shipping the game out. There is specific voiced dialog for Sulik regarding his sister. Clearly it was going to be in the game but they ran out of time. I believe some devs are even quoted as saying Sulik's sister was going to be in Fallout 2 but time was of the essence.SorgFall said:Well how will you then solve the problem?
What makes you think that the devs didn't want to include Dayglow at all? They did - in the same manner like they, afterwards, decided not to develop the Abbey. Some things they dropped early on (like the intelligent Super Mutant boss at the Dayglow) and some later on in the game (like Kurisa, Sulik's sister). There's not much difference save for the fact that they actually partially completed the other ones.
And I don't think that there's much of F2 to lore - I mean it's just two tiny locations (as opposed to many mysterious vaults that were never ever meant to be locations in the first place and are off-topic).
