Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

@ Killap

Hey, I am playing the the 1.2 version of the restoration project, and I have been having trouble with the final fight against Horrigan. I use the counter insurgency against him, but every turret hits him for no damage. The only person who can hurt him is the enclave soldier with the pulse rifle, and I am using the Gauss Rifle. Was there something extra that I missed (mutated sixth toe) or do I need a high big guns/energy weapons trait to do any damage. Thanks for the help, and you have done a hell of a great job with this game!

Where is Abbey, and how do I fly on a Vertibird?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but I'm just too darn lazy to read all 47 pages of the thread to find out.

Where is Abbey .. or rather, how do I make Abbey available? I have already gotten a dialogue about it from a character or two, I think maybe even Vic, but nothing on the world map.

Also ... I saw mention of an alternative way of accessing Navarro or the Oil Rig, not sure which one. All I *do* know is there was something about flying on a Vertibird. How do I do that?

Other than that, everything else has made itself apparent, and I want to thank Killap for the awesome expansion. After playing Fallout 2 countless times since its release, its really a treat to be able to go back in and truly encounter some new things. Thanks.

Edit: One another thing, not sure if it's a bug or not, but this seems to be the first time its happening to me, and the only thing different is the Restoration Project. All of a sudden Vic has become an abject coward, no matter how I configure his combat settings. Best weapon, best armor, everyone else fighting. He runs .. always. Some insight on that would be awesome too. :D

The outhouse explosion in Modoc and trap floor at the ghost farm can now cause crippled limbs for you and party members, which is probably what happened.

Wow! I knew about the newly-added crippling effect, but had not thought to examine him after either fall, and whaddya-know, you were right! :D Thanks! Now how about that vertibird question? I've mysteriously got Abbey on my worldmap now, so it's no longer an issue.

Rat god

First I would like to thank Killap for this fantastic mod :notworthy: , Ive been using your regular patch for a long time.

So I just reinstalled fo2 with the restoration project and started a new game. Came to klamath and proceeded to eradicate the rats. Now the weird part begins, I attacked the rat god and got a critical for 0 dmg and that killed it. But I only got 75 xp for the kill and "kill the rat god" quest isnt crossed out.

Im using the Resolution Patch v1.6 and RP 1.2

:EDIT:

I reloaded without the AP-mod this time it didnt happend

Short bug report for Abbey Monster/Deathclaw quest, I thought I'd report it before 1.3 although I know it's been talked of earlier in the thread:

Arriving at Abbey, I went straight to sewers, killed the Deathclaw, then talked to the Head Monk who acted as if he had already given me that quest, asking if I had found the book he asked for as well.

My character says something like "I seem to have misplaced the book" despite never having heard of it or seen it.

The quest still registers correctly in the pipboy and I was given a keycard and the water pump quest, so it's not that broken, just thought I'd mention it.

Not running any other mods than the RP 1.2

@Flatline,
Did you check the corpses down there? The book he's asking about should be on the one in the large area where the Deathclaw was.

Yeah, its there all right, I just never bothered picking it up this time. ( I thought I'd go and "get the quest" the proper way first, but the head monk acts lika we've already spoken)

Having issues with the primitive village well quest. I am able to attach the rope, but once I aquire the bucket, I am unable to do anything with it. I have tried to use it from the bag, from my hand and even attempting a repair check. I've tried initiating the quest by talking with the guy standing next to the well, and also by just looking at the well to see its broken without speaking with the villager.
That's strange since I really thought I fixed this problem. Please upload/e-mail me a save game so I can test this for myself.

Hi Killap,

First, you are awesome for creating this. Many, many thanks!

I too am having trouble with the Primitive Tribe quests. The Well is unfixable and the haunted shaman's ghost won't appear for me.

I just downloaded the mod from the main page here a few days ago, so I assume I have the latest version.

Thanks!

@ babletters,

Fix the Well = talk to the guy, attach (use) the rope from the backpack, talk to the guy again, attach the bucket from the backpack.

To see the ghost, rest until midnight. She appears outside the shaman's tent.

Thank you for trying to help me out! But unfortunately, neither of these processes work. For the well, I can attach the rope, but the bucket has no options available. I can pick it up and drop it, and when I talk to the guy he just asks "is the bucket fixed?" I look at the well and it still says it is missing the rope and bucket. I scanned this entire forum and it appears that was an old problem, but the link to the patch that might have fixed it (tribei1.int) on page 1 is dead.

I have waited until midnight repeatedly, after taking the rock from the girl's body. Earlier in this thread it was told to look at the body with the binoculars; that option is not available to me.

So somehow I got caught with some old bugs. Furthermore, when I leave the Village now (with the quests unfinished) the NPC (Surik?) doesn't come along with me. And I am kind of a dope and overwrote the save point just before I got to the village, except for one waaaaaay back.

Anyway...I don't want to sound like a complainer. I appreciate the years of time and effort Killap has put into this project, and have been having tons of fun with it. Thanks!

@ babletters

I'm assuming that you are new to to Fallout, right?

To get the interaction menu you need to hold down your left mouse button and then just move down to the option you want.
For fixing the well, you don't use the items right from your inventory. You need to hold down the left button, choose the backpack icon, and then choose the rope. Same thing for the bucket.

For the body in the woods, hold down the left button until the binoculars pop up.

And if that's not it, I suggest you write in the other RP thread instead.

cheers

Sulik wants to stay with his tribe for a couple of days, so rest for a day or two and then ask him to come with you again.

Thank you again, but the problem is that the menu does not appear for the bucket. The only options are to look at it or to drop it. This is a bug that was posted on page one of this forum. The left menu options you describe are simply not available to choose.

I had visited the village previously, and picked up the bucket when I was still unfriendly, and left the village with the bucket still in my inv. Having returned to the village via rescuing the sister with the bucket in my inventory may have been an incorrect path. *shrug*.

Guess I won't be able to complete this quest line. You were right about the ghost part, thank you.

Just so there's no misunderstanding here, you are holding the left mouse button on the WELL, and not on the bucket, yeah?

Well I'll be a sunovabitch. Okay, nothing to see here, ignore the noob, move along.

Seriously though...thanks.

Hm i have been playing around a bit with the New Reno casinos... I think it was the Sharks and theres this casino manager were u can ask about beeing comedian or dancer... well as already in the original FA2 you can ask him about "that old guy over there" or something. In the ultimate guide thats refered to some guy with a hunting rifle, but now theres realy some old guy at the slot machines playing. I think hes using the Westin model. Now it gets a bit weird... the manager will say the old guy is pissed at you for winning his fortune... a sentence that wont make sense for now! You can then ask him wether the machine is rigged and he will say its only a bit "stubborn" (maybe old or so).
Now when u talk with the old guy you can ask him about what hes doing there and figure hes playing for years on THIS machine and spending all his money. You can ask him to let you try but he wont let you and gets pissed if you ask too often. You can try to repair the machine but it will say "you cant work on the machine when the old guy is still playing" or something like that. But, and thats weird compared to all other slot machines in the game you can play on this one even if its blocked! When you play you win the Jackpot instantly (not that much money so :P) and the guy will open dialoge, in wich i havent found a way yet NOT to enter combat...

Now the sentence from the manager would make sense though

Well anyways you can "jinx" the other machines around to let em give you all there money (guess its high repair?) and no1 will notice/care so u can basicly loot all the machines...

Anyone knows more about this kinda strange guy/situation? Havent found something in the search function so far
