Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

@vibalist,

Maybe if you help out that one guy who does offer you a quest, the others in the tribe would have more to say? :)

I just find it strange that it is not made clear to you that this quest must be done before you can do anything else. I mean, *what* exactly does it have to do with finding Suliks sister? And if doing it is a necessity, couldn't it be made so that the tribals tell you something along the lines of "do this for us, and we'll talk to you about Suliks sister afterwards" or something? Just to avoid confusion. Right now it feels strange to wander into a village where you can't talk to anyone but a guy who offers you a quest that has nothing to do with what you came for initially.

For the record, I'm not trying to complain about this mod or anything. I'm grateful that it's even being made. I just honestly didn't have clue what to do after entering the village. Thought it might have been a bug that caused some of the dialogue to dissappear, maybe.

@vibalist,

You're right, it is kinda strange. I usually rescue Sulik's sister before going to Primitive Tribe, which makes it even more unreasonable that no one will talk to you! That's just the way RPG's in general are. Some things you will never find or know about unless you talk to EVERYONE (or cheat and read a guide). Even then, you might still lack the skills (or have too much) and they still don't tell you. :?

@All who have flown the Vertibird to the Enclave:

Well I finally did that, now what am I supposed to do?
I go and talk to the Elder. She tells me to find the GECK and set the tribe free. So I'm supposed to do all that and finish the game when I haven't even been to New Reno yet? Seems I can't get back into the vertibird, so am I missing something or just not understanding this? Flying the vertibird is just a huge shortcut to end the game? That isn't much fun. :|

You actually don't have to talk with anyone at the Primitive Tribe to progress in the Sulik sister quest. You can just go straight to Metzger. If you don't know to go to Metzger, talking with the tribal chief will push you in this direction.

Well, the vertibird can only be flown once the tribe went missing. I assume this is the case?

Thank you killap.
Yes, after the 4th Hakunin dream I went to Arroyo and Hakunin gives me the Navarro location. Everything worked perfectly once I found the satellite computer. I didn't know what to expect except a new area I'd never seen before, but just confirming, that's it then? Is it a one way trip?

The conversation with the Elder led me to believe that once I set them free and retrieved the GECK, I might escape in the vertibird. Maybe I can sneak past Horrigan to the launch pad and leave him to deal with the Bomb. My poor character isn't prepared though and I keep getting killed, so I'll probably never know.

You have enough gas to make it to the enclave and back to Navarro. That is it.

You can leave in the vertibird but only once you fight Horrigan - just like you can leave on the tanker once you defeat Horrigan. The door to the vertipad should be locked once you enter the fight, just like is done with the door which leads to the tanker. Is this the case?

OK, I think I understand this now. :) We can fly back, but only after defeating Horrigan and the Enclave (and finishing the game) just as if we had gone there via the Tanker.

So what is the time limit between the 4th dream and when we can no longer fly the vertibird? Or is it an action that does this?

My last game I tried, but it was later and I took my whole party to wipe out Navarro first. I got the 'use' icon on the vertibird, but clicking said "You cannot get there". I thought we could still fly the vertibird even after the base went on alert, so I'm guessing this has something to do with other actions or timing, and trying to confirm this.

Also, if someone was able to defeat the Enclave and Horrigan before ever travelling to SF, what would happen if they kept playing and went there later? Could we still do the refueling quests? I suppose we could only get as far as activating the NavComp. There would be no signal from the destroyed Enclave, so we couldn't make a second trip there on the tanker. 8-)

Correct

There is no time limit. The problem might have been that no script was attached. The vertibird was broken in 1.1.

It is impossible to return to the Enclave (via the tanker or the vertibird) once you destroy the place. It was actually possible to go back to the Enclave via the tanker in the original game, but my patch corrected this. I believe it is still possible to get the tanker ready though if you never did so before going to the Enclave (ie you took the vertibird instead). More XP the merrier ;)

Does anybody remember the exact steps for completing the cattle rustling quest. Like what speech level you need to have to get certain dialogues and such. Greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

@BassPlayaKEK, I don't think you need high speech. It is a bit confusing though. Talk to Ardin, then talk to Maida and ask about cattle rustling to start.

Then you must take Torr's quest to guard the Brahmin, so you can find the Rad-scorpion arms in the shed when you go there.

After that I'm not sure. You need to look at the Brahmin behind the Dunton Bros place and see the brand/markings have been changed.

With these two pieces of evidence, you must confront the Dunton's first. Threaten them, then go back and talk to Maida and you should get the options to accuse the Dunton's and finish the quest.

Hi,
Is there anything special I need to do in order to get Cassidy to attack again? Sometime around Modoc, he just stopped attacking. During combat, he simply walks around. He has a rifle and a shotgun (shotgun is equipped) and ammo. I've tried going to combat control and changing his stuff, and also using custom and modifying what he does, but nothing seems to work.
He is the only NPC in my party.

I'd be willing to bet he has crippled limbs. Fix 'em.

nearest location to there is:

you can fix them by talking to the 'doc' ghoul standing next to harold at Gecko.. for about £30

Thanks again for the help with my questions, but I still have more about the brahmin quest.

After I tell Torr abou the bugmen and he runs off, I go back to the duntons and always decline the cut. Even after picking up the rad scorpion limbs and saving torr, I can not get another dialogue option until I accept the cut from rustling the brahmin (and getting the -60 karma drop which is what I want to avoid). Do I need to wait for my speech to go up to confront them, or have I run into a bug. I am running the 1.2.2 patch by the way. Thanks for the help!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Anyway, Killap great job with this. Can i talk dorian down in vault 15?

Great job with this restoration, Killap.

Hi, I've got a bug report.

It seems that NCR vs. Vault City Plots are broken.
The game freezes on the next exit grid if you:
a)Tell Lynette that NCR hired the raiders to attack VC
and she sends you with a mission to Roger Westin.
b)If you tell the guy who's not dressed in fancy suit
(Francis?) in Tandi's office that someone's been selling
info, &etc. outside NCR.

Version used:
Fallout 1.2 + RP 1.2 + Hotfixes

I am having some problems with the brahmin quest too.
After I accept the quest from Torr, I kill all the bugs go back to Torr, he thanks me for killing all the bugs, but when I leave the area a message appears saying I failed to protect the brahmin.
Do I need to put the Duntons away before I do this quest ?

Did you happen to go to the Den before doing this quest?

I'm probably being thick and/or unobservant here, but I got through about 20 pages of this thread without finding an answer, so here's the question:

Can I actually do anything with these seeds (non-experimental) I've found at the EPA? According to the walkthrough I can plant them in Arroyo, but this doesn't seem possible when I get there (I'm just post-third Hakunin dream; nobody in Arroyo seems real happy but they're still alive).

Killap, it's taken your mod to get me to delurk after several years of reading here at nma - thank you for an awesome mod.
