Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

I have the exact same elevators problem and it also happened in Redding, in the Wanamingo Mine with the elevators there.
Interesting. Does this mean no elevators work in the game for you?

Rodneyh37 said:
So does that mean EPA is pretty done for me?
Sadly, yes. If you cannot access the elevators, then you cannot go anywhere in the facility.

Rodneyh37 said:
Is there any other maps outside of the facility? according to the walkthrough about the "old" EPA there was a green grid to a different area [the green grid is now missing to my understanding] so i wonder if there is still a different area and how do i get to it?
Not in the 2.x series. The Warehouse with the Doctor was removed, as it was only proposed by the devs in an early design doc, and never meant to be in the final EPA.

Nope, actually for example the Vault city vault elevators work, i only noticed EPA and the mine in Redding elevators not working.

Thanks, but is there no way to make the elevators? i mean it works for most people, why doesn't it work for me?

I really don't know what could be the problem. If all elevators stopped working for you, then I would suspect it might have something to do with sfall. Then again, I don't know why 99.9% of the RP players are not affected.

Do you have a save game I can test out? I'm sure the elevators will work just fine for me, but no harm in testing.

I just updated my sfall version before entering EPA for the first time, so i guess it can't be that.

Here is my save slot:

http://www.multiupload.com/6TJVQTRW8Z

[The save is just before the Utility level in the facility where the two elevators don't work]

I wish there was a way to fix it, or maybe have a different way to access the rest of the levels in the facility... [like the stairs in the Redding mine], i read you used to have "talk window" with the elevators... maybe bringing it back would fix the problem?

Thanks for the help.

How can I get past the level 3 in EPA (where you get through vent)? 2 Elevators don't work for me, I clicked them in a lot of different ways/positions but they don't do anything.
From your post in the other thread, I'm guessing you're still using the old version of sfall. It's probably old enough that it doesn't support adding extra elevators.

I have exactly the same problem on the same floor (Robot maintenance Level 3), I have v2.0 of the restoration mod and using sfall 2.6 with fresh fallout 2 installation.

When I open one of the elevators and step in, I don't get the pop up to choose the level to go to

I've tried disabling any running processes that could interfere within windows 7, as far as I know its something to do with the game. Any ideas?

I thought I had previously posted this but I can't find it anywhere so I guess I'll do it again...

During the installation process I noticed that there is an option that allows you to see the armor you give your followers...doesn't work for me...I even give my follower armor and tell the to wear best armor and nothing...am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time.

*Hope I'm not double posting*

Just to make things clear, by me saying "that allows you to see the armor" I mean see the armor on the character during the game instead of them without the armor/normal design.

And at a guess, you overwrote the ddraw.ini, thus neatly removing all of the RP's modified elevator settings?

Wait, did you make the relevant changes to the ddraw.ini file? If not, then that is the problem. You need to make sure ElevatorsFile=Elevators.ini is uncommented (i.e remove the ';' at the start of the line)

Honestly, there is no reason to update sfall separately. If there is ever an important change, I'll release an update to the RP.

EDIT:
And Timeslip beats me to it. :)

@HarpsS1ngh
What I just said is probably relevant to you.

@Agros
What steps did you take to install everything? You posted in the unofficial patch thread, so I almost feel like you installed the RP and then the unofficial patch. I really cannot think of any other reason for this happening...

But at least you're more polite about it than me. :P

The people-blindly-updating-sfall thing really is a lot worse now that it doesn't cause the obvious cities crash on startup. I'll try and get that 2.9 I was talking about out for you tomorrow.

Yeah, it's without ';' and still has the problem.

Also when i was in Redding with this problem i didn't install sfall separately, i just had the one with RP.

Strange since the elevators in the vault of Vault City do work, what is the different between the two?

As i said, maybe have a different way to access the rest of the levels in the facility... [like the stairs in the Redding mine], or better i read you used to have "talk window" with the elevators... maybe bringing it back would fix the problem?

I think I might have done it in that order...will I have to make a fresh install of the game again but do the patch then the RP? I didn't think it mattered what order you installed in but I guess that's what I get for thinking. >_<"

When I installed the RP I chose the "full Install" option.

You don't want to install the unofficial patch, as it already comes with the RP. All that is required is a humongous install of the game and then the latest RP, that's it, nothing more.

Okay, but you'll probably still have to manually select stuff from the extras section.

Agros said:

Yeah, you proabably should. Installing both the patch and RP causes problems. Honestly, installing the unofficial patch after the RP should not happen as there is a check in the patch installer, but apparently this doesn't work for many people...

@Rodneyh37
Hmm, and there is an Elevators.ini file in your main F2 directory that has two entries (24, 25)?

Heh, I know politeness is such a fault of mine.. ;)

Is something wrong with it?

Nope, looks good to me. Hmm, I'm really at a loss here... *shrug*

EDIT: Any chance you can install the 2.0.2e patch from the first post in the main RP thread and see what happens? You probably have it installed already, but at least you will get the version of sfall that was shipped with the RP.

Rodneyh37 said:
See the addition to my post above.

Rodneyh37 said:
What about the "talk window" for the elevators idea? you said you removed it or something?
That was originally in place due to limitations in adding new elevators, but thanks to sfall I was able to do what I wanted. Having both won't work as they are mutually exclusive.

Cheers killap, that did it for me. While we're on the subject, are there any other modifications needed to be made to ddraw.ini after updating the sfall patch or any other file?

I got a new problem now, I get a CTD when I enter the first floor on the left elevator, it says "Application Error: The instruction at 0048d9a4 referenced memory at 0acfba77. The memory could not be read from"....I've had similar errors before but usually after reloading the game it usually works, but this time I get the same error each time.

Also, the design docs that you refer to, do you mean the fallout bible?

Well, i did and Fallout didn't even open. [after the "please wait" window it crushes]

So I'm forced to re-install the latest verison of sfall, It's now working again.
