how to make work?

I can't seem to get this mod to run.... i am using XP SP2 64-bit


i install fallout2 then i install shattered destiny then it won't run....

then i can install the patch and install sfall and get it to run... but it just plays the basic game not your mod....

it seems i need sfall to get fallout2 to run on my machine due to directx or something?


anyways how can i make this work?
 
Yes, you need sfall for this. I think you installed the new sfall version correct but you have overwritten the old ddraw.ini - so, install SD1 in some other directory and copy the ddraw.ini from there into your fallout 2 folder. Then it should work - in theory.
 
so my question is this...

ahh no see.... Shattered destiny's EXE is incompatible with SFALL....

i try to start it up and it says "version expected 1.02"

so my question is this... how do i get shattered destiny and SD running both at the same time? simply copying the sfall files over top of shattered destiny or vica versa won't work because of the exe version number
 
If you install SD1 (shattered destiny) you get the US 1.02 fallout2.exe file. It is already in the archive inclusive sfall. I am not versed in any kind of way with the 64bit version of winXP, but as far as I can see, the normal sfall should work with it too. So if you just install Shattered Destiny over your vanilla Fallout 2, it should work. "version 1.02 expected" is a sign that sfall is not compatible and there is something wrong.

The english version 1.1 is the actual version inclusive all patches for the mod.

so far the only procedure that has allowed me to run fallout2 has been installing killap's unofficial fallout patch....

whatever i do if i do this last it runs... whatever else i do if i have any different EXE it won't run

i'm even having trouble with installing megamob... it seems my computer so far is only able to run the game using killap's exe... maybe i can use killap's exe and still play a different mod... as maybe just having the data files there will make them get used? what is the first thing i can encounter in the game to verify if i am playing shattered destiny or not? ... i'm trying to brainstorm what i am doing wrong but i'm really coming up empty so far



i think the problem is i need the SFALL version that comes from killap... the other versions have a slightly different composition and don't work for me.. i am now going to try saving sfall from this patch in another location then clean fallout2 install then no patches then SD1 then moving that copy of sfall back over
 
You can try to run SD with the fallout2.exe that comes with his patch. But it shouldn't make a difference because as far as I know he is also using the us 1.02 fallout2.exe.

You will see new videos on game startup. When you enter the game, there should be a completely new location.
 
his exe comes with sfall and the filesize on the .dll is different than the sfall that comes from other locations i think this is the observation i needed to make...

your version of sfall is just outdated and my computer will only run with the newer version of sfall ... also your EXE is not 1.02

but i have now installed your mod and patch 1.02 and the 1.28 DLL file and it runs...

so what is the first npc/quest/etc that i can run into which will make it clear that I am indeed playing your mod?
 
You play the mod if you start the game and there is a totaly new location. You will _not_ start at the temple of trials.

And I can tell you, I included the us 1.02 fallout2.exe ;) Without this exe file it isn't possible to use sfall and I created the mod with sfall and I played and tested the mod with sfall. It is possible, that the one year old sfall version will make problems with your 64bit os, but this should be solved if you install a new version of sfall (like you have done as far as I can see). For this, again: if you overwrite the ddraw.ini from shattered destiny, you can not play the mod becauce with this you also overwrite some needed stuff like the starting map, the videos and so on and so on.

working one has like 100extra kilobytes worth of dll file and 5extra kilobytes worth of ini...

well great somehow editing my ini file has made it say my exe is bad....

anyways for anyone else who has this problem you'll need to figure out which parts of the misc file are important to shattered destiny... then get a newer version of sfall and use that .dll and that .ini (with the edits needed)


looks like it's working perfectly now... i saw the hog and got a game started... anyways thanks for your help....

promising me that all the exe's were the same lead me to question what else was different and i finally figured out the sfall versions was it
 
I thought it might be good to have a new look at the brotherhood bunker.



It is still work in progress. I have smaller problems with the "it needs to look like you are standing on a mountain"-thing.

You used the shores tiles but without water didn't you?
I like it. I have always wanted to see more of the world than our little map show us.
Imagine the first time you go to this location, a little animation with you discovering the bunker...

You have tree days to make Vault city now. :D

Heh, thanks. :) Yeah, I am still working on it. The final version will looks much better but it is still hard to give it the right "mountain"-feeling.

I also have some other great art for SD2 but I don't want to show everything at once. ;)

I created it mostly "from scratch" - I only took some desert parts from the big glow crater as a start.

Yeah, lizards already saw. What a stuff.
But lizards are not going to spoil anything as well (if you're not going to nuke North Moravia or so). :drummer:
 
I am still thinking about releasing a bigger update soon... and while thinking about it, I thought that I can show a small new screen at least. :>

It has the title "Friends" and is a hommage to this great piece of FanArt.
