Fallout 3 OXM 10/11 confirmed

-> After Mass Effect, many journalists are actively leading the way in insisting that ME's dialogue system is an 'evolution' from the now-obsolete past, and that there is absolutely no good reason whatsoever not to use this new system that is better in every way.
-> This, obviously, is bollocks, because they are simply two systems driven by different logics with different advantages and disadvantages, the values of which depend on the vision of that specific game and your specific opinion.

Pretty much. And near as I can read that's what Ranne meant, as well.

What the hell, when was the title renamed 10/11.

When I was reminded OXM rates game out of a possible score of 11.

Because they do.

What's daft about it? Complain to them.

Regardless of them being different systems driven by different logistics I disliked the lack of control delivered to me over my characters reply in ME due to not knowing the subtleties of the dialogue because it really robs me of having control over how I see my character regardless of the real reactionary response not being changed.

I'm an old school P&P RPer, and also with no real feeling of afftecting the game world with my dialogue other than triggering a quest it felt much like an arduous system of extracting information when the writing didn't inspire me seeming in my opinion to lack zest and depth.

Now these are just personal gripes but praising a system and denouncing another with it's own positives and negatives because of modern gaming's constant popularist pursuit of ergonomicss and simplification disapoints me, as it help's to marginalise what is my favourite and what was also once the dominant style in what is also my favourite genre. It makes me angry because it helps to change what was once my favourite franchise (albeit a short lived one) and push it in a direction I don't really like.

Disclaimer: Also anyone that says man you're over reacting about games and them changing is an idiot. What should I be angry or dissapointed about if not my favourite game in my favourite hobby/pastime, something that fills a fair portion of the time I have to spare and gives me alot of enjoyment. Trivialising the things that take up large parts of peoples live's and saying; "Lol just a game your over react stupid fanboi!!1!" is an annoyingly persistant trait of the seemingly insecure and juvenile. (maybe I just take too much notice of dull troll griefers for my own good.)

Exactly. What bugged me the most was the difference in tone between the option and spoken text. I personally like to play rational, smart characters, so it wasn't very nice whenever I chose something like "that's incorrect" and got something like "no, I'm right, shut the hell up".

I'm enjoying ME's dialogue system, but on more than one occasion I've selected an option, and had my character deliver a line that really wasn't I was hoping for.

Oblivion's dialogue was shitty as well, because many times there were options that I wanted to choose, but they simply weren't there.

Don't worry about it to much, the way I see it, one day the developers and publishers will move past this 'current generation of gamers as they did with us, creating sequels to series the new people on the scene loved so much but that have barely anything in common with what they liked.

They will probably scream bloody murder, why are the developers/publishers doing this to them?

Random gamer "What the hell? Fallout 7 isn't at all like the previous three Fallout games, they have screwed up the game play, changed the lore. It's suppose to be a FPS/3rd Person Oblivion like RPG dammit!"

Imagine the same with franchises like Halo, GTA, MGS, GoW.

One day it will be your turn you little bastards, then I can point and laugh.

OXM is a joke. I once bought a Gamecube and received a free subscription to a gaming magazine as a gift. I didn't really give a damn so I picked OXM.

It's entertaining enough to flip through while you're taking a shit but their reviews can never be taken seriously. Any big budget game automatically gets 9.5 to 10, even if they list more flaws than positives.

After a whole bunch of games, including Mass Effect, received perfect 10's and a few angry letters followed, they said that their rating actually went up to 11, not 10. What a bunch of bullshit, how can someone take them seriously after that.

Their critique here is laughable. Not having your pc say the lines is a flaw? Mass Effect went for cinematic cutscenes.

I heard Dead Space was decent, not that I'd believe that since I can't play today's games at all...

Untrue. In this issue, Dead Space got a 6.5.

I guess not literally ANY game but most do. Or rather, all the big and important games for Xbox 360 get perfect 10's. Or maybe, the games that have some level of exclusivity do. Anyway, you know damn well what I'm trying to say.
