Hah, I asked Kathode (Gavin Carter) why the power armor is different from the old one, and he said "because it's better ;)".
i think many disagree at this point. at least most people i've spoken to atm.

still, the look of one armor is the least of our concern right now. stuff like that is easy as pie to mod out ;)

Heh, we must talk to two different types of folks. Almost all of the folks I have chatted with love the armor. :D I much prefer the sinister looking armor to the FO-2 and tactics armors myself. :D That used and falling apart look of it is much better, imo, than the shiny new PA that was used before.

It says "NUKA BREAK", and seems to be a Nuka-Cola ad. I imagine it "Bombs your mouth with flavor" or something.

www.gametrailers.com upped the trailer a while ago. They have a strange headline for it (I assume this was made up by them):
"The end of the world is inevitable.
The question is... What will you do?"

...Yeah.

Anyways, someone on the Beth forums is posting that he in no way believes it will be a FP game, stating that the graphics are just not good enough. Since Crysis (which has omgwtfbbq graphics I think) is coming out, he feels that Fallout 3 just won't be able to compete with Crysis' FP shinyness. Again, I have no idea personally about the technicalities of graphics, but I really don't want a FP game so I'll cling to what hope I can find.

As for the comparisons with Oblivions graphics, well... We should also keep in mind that Oblivion is one year old now, and Fallout is not scheduled until autumn next year.

Lol I never even noticed the statue or the bomb. I think it says something a break?

Yeah even that screenie is more detailed when talking about items in a house/generally interior space.
Things look movable and/or destructable whereas in the trailer they seemed kinda "stuck" to each other. For example look at the handles in the bus.

Sheeeeshh I've got too much free time today.... :P

Did you watch the high-resolution trailer or just the crappy FuckTube version? Because it looks to me like you're talking out of your ass.

I'd say it would look pretty impressive for a first-person game.

Also, if you want to judge the perspective the game will have from this trailer... you don't model/texture the roof of something (eg. the bus) if you're going iso-metric, since you can't see it in iso-metric view... right?

Edit: By roof I meant ceiling. Yeah.

You do if you're using it for a trailer. Or if you're going to allow for NWN-style camera manipulation. But yeah, it's probably FP.

And you'll probably be looking far and wide for that "Power Armor MK III Right Pauldron".

Hey thanks

I've downloaded the HD version of the trailer.

Really the graphs remind me of close-ups in Silent Storm. Have you played FEAR or STALKER ? Or any new FPS anyway. Compare that stuff with what you see.

And I'm not saying I am SURE or that I KNOW it won't be FP. I'm just saying what my hunch is. Maybe my hunch is in my ass. Who knows.

*There is ofcourse the probability of it being a crappy FPS, so there ya go we're all satisfied...........

Wait... wtf just happened?

Was just judging the perspective from the trailer, like some people like to do.

Or if you're going to allow for NWN-style camera manipulation.

I don't remember ceilings in NWN.
But maybe there were. 'the fuck remembers what that shit game had...

Actually I like it more than the original one *prepares to be hit*.

Yeah the first one is more streamlined, shinier and comes closer to the whole retro-future setting.

The new one might lock a little bit more impractical but also more realistic. It comes closer of how a power armour could look like it it was built in reality, from my point of view... yeah but retro- future...

Well I like the whole retro future aspect but I always liked the idea that realism is combined with the retro future theme. Sometimes one side is stronger another time it is weaker.

I don't want to play a 50's Sci Fi Book, I want to play Fallout.

Anyway, Bethesda should be aware that there is a very thin line between realism and retro future. If crossed the result might be cheasy or to realistic thus boring.

I liked it that they put their own style in the Power Armor design while not fucking it up (TicTacs)

used, dusty, rigged, sure... no problem. but these forms just don't add up for me. the form of the pauldron, the mask, the bumpy chestplate.

anyhow, i asked my RL buddies, friends on the funcom AoC irc server and some old WoW buddies. all said the same. ;)

There were no ceilings, but the camera allowed you look at an angle where you should have seen ceilings.

I am happy with it overall.

Good music
Good advertisements

Did not blow me away and wasn't that unique.

Fall 2008 made me very sad............thats a long way away

Yeah that was me, and I think there is no way this game is gonna be FP (except this engine is in preproduction phase). But who the wheck would be THAT dumb to present a prototype engine as hype machine. No sorry no way, and now also on the Ps3, I really can't imagine this. This engine and top down are just meant for each other. And as an isometric engine it would be quite pretty, althought I also like the FP feeling in the trailer. It has some kind of style, not this overblooming shit, I really like it, and also the teaser, except that at some points it appears to use old Fallout stereotypes just to push itself right into the proper spot.

By the way, did you read this guy flaming and whining about NMA? delicious!

Well, it looks nice, but I ain't gona preorder the game, but as the game has a lot potentiality, I'll buy it from shelf definitly.

Half Life 2 with Oblivion? There are a few graphics generations between these games. Oblivion compared with Half Life 2n, without personal preferage, is a much much better engine. Till today there are not that many engines that can match with the Oblivion Engine. Now with the upcoming Geometry Shader and the Unified Shader Model things will turn out different. And exactly here is the point, where bethesda has to make a decision if the will gonna try to compete against the upcoming top FP titles, or they will make a technological mid level graphic engine which fits the fallout universe very good.

For me, the decision is clear, at least after viewing the first 50 seconds of their teaser

Y know what FeelTheRads? You got a point there about the ceiling... That makes grampy-Jimmious unhappy :(
