Fallout 4 coming out on November 10, free mobile spin-off out now

Been wanting to say this for a long time while lurking through the forums:

Too colorful, horrid writing and they're, as always, taking the retro-futurism too far and neglecting the other elements of the pre-war culture. Vault 87 Super Mutants again? Great. Prepare for more lore-breaking!

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel looks amazing compared to the Bethesdian Fallout games. At least it's not the one we're most ashamed of anymore!

This is literally the 50s in the future. I mean, who the hell would use the M26 Pershing/M46 Patton I in 2077? Anyone can think of something futuristic and retro at the same time. It's not really that hard, just think about a futuristic item, then think about how would a 50s designer design it (using either 50s materiel or Fallout materiel). Done.

To be fair, that image is a timeline mural that shows past conflicts so them having old weapons is excusable. They will still have old weapons in the game anyway, but let's be fair.

Ehh, they used the same tank in the FO3 teaser thing with the guy reading a newspaper.

Little shit like that doesn't bother me anyway. If Bethesda could write worth a damn I could take a few lore retcons considering how common they are in movies, comics, and games;we all know that isn't the case.

I also am not bothered by the Bethesda logo considering I wasn't bothered by the shitty Interplay logo either. They are the ones that destroyed the franchise after all. They destroyed it and Bethesda came by and had their way with the corpse.

That being said I would rather spend $100 on a Fallout 1 and 2 big box. I never had one. :|

I had both a Fallout and Fallout 2 big box.

Well, technically, my brother did.

And he's got them somewhere that I don't know.

Next time I go to visit, I'll find them.

Thermal sleeve on the Pershing/Patton makes me think this is futuristic. It's also very close to the space picture. IIRC the US didn't have access to Thermal Sleeves in the 50s. Only in the 70s - 80s.

Its just showing off warfare throughout American history. You can see the Revolutionary War era guys up front.

Its weird how every companion is bisexual. Why couldn't they just make some bisexual, some gay, and some straight?

It's between World War II and the Modern Era. It's going over barbed wire and is next to a helicopter.

Bethesda is too afraid to restrict *anything*. They will allow you anything you want to do. Because it's an open world free roaming game, so that you can romance anyone. They should let you sleep with Codsworth if they are so into freedom.
And they are lazy, but that's hardly news.

That might be perceived as homophobia by certain members of the video gaming press.

How so? As long as there are a few bi/homo/straight love interests anyone would look extremely foolish to say sometghing like that. Unless you are a Straight Male Gamer, that is.

But unless if it was right after the Korean War, the tank would've been a M47/M48 Patton. Or a M60. However the inclusion of a thermal sleeve is just.. weird.

It's a historical slip up for the sake of coolness, or maybe it is right after the Korean War. It's not something to make a big deal about, especially considering the divergence was in the 40s.

Even if we assume that the divergence affected tank development, do you know how bad using a 1943 tank in 2077 is? It's even worse when you consider how fast and rapid tank development was IRL.

From 1954, the USSR had the T-54A Medium tank. In 1962 they were prototyping the T-64 Medium tank which had included many many MANY advanced equipment well beyond the 60s era.

It wasn't being used in 2077. It was used during some time between 1942 and 2077.

But besides, it's a piece of art. Even within the game, someone could have drawn an inaccurate tank because it looks cool.

IT DOESN'T MATTER.
