Fallout 4 - Far Harbor Official Trailer

I dont get the hate tho, fallout 4 is one of the most fun games if ever played!
Of course things could be improved like the visuals and of course the rpg elements but as a whole, its an incredibly fun and addicting experience.
Building settlements, exploring the world, meeting characters and doing interesting side quests along the way, ive played almost 100 hours and thers still so much more left to do.
My only complaint would have to be the load times on playstation 4
My advice would be to read some of the novels that served as an inspiration for the series, namely, The Postman and A Canticle for Leibowitz.

These should help to give you a sense of the kind of world the series was intended to portray (by the original developers and Obsidian).

And of course play one or both of Fallout 1 and 2 if you haven't.

I sense huge fps drops due to heavy particle fog and shit that's still calculated on one CPU core for like ten years. It was an issue back in the PL days and it will be here.

Well, The Glowing Sea had some sort of mist thing and it didn't cause my computer to drop in framerate. The cities did that tho. Maybe the woods will do it unless they scale back the draw distance of vegetation.

Bloodmoon, Shivering Isles, Point Lookout, Dragonborn... why does Bethesda always have a DLC where you take a boat journey to a mysterious, mythical island? Don't get me wrong, Shivering Isles, Point Lookout and Dragonborn were the best parts of their respective games, but it's just a theme I've noticed.

And most of their games begin with being a prisoner, and there's a good chance that the end game will involve a giant humanoid. Bethesda's gonna bethesd.

We knew it was going to start off with finding some woman, but apparently Beth has the chutzpah to use the exact same story hook as Point Lookout - helping a mother find the daughter.

You did it with the main story, and just like you love to do, with the DLC. Get over it, Emil.
Seriously. Did Emil's father abandon him, did his mom? What is with his obsession with parents skipping out on their kids? That boy needs therapy. Ah well, at least the lever action is making a comeback.

Holy sheet, that looks like just like Point Lookout but worse.

A big frog, that hides underwater.

Geckos they ripped out of new Vegas.

Giant Mutated Mantises?

Nick Valentine as a synth leader?

The lore is screaming as it is being gutted just by the trailer alone.

When I watched this trailer I saw a conflict between local people, synths and children of atom, which whill probably be just like the factions in Fallout 4.

Also no wonder this is their "biggest" DLC. I can bet that 65% of the map will be pure water, without anything exciting.

On the plus side, there are actually other water enemies, outside of mirelurks.

PS: That part with "BRING MY DAUGHTER HOME" made me cringe like crazy. It is the same like the one in Fallout 3 and that tells a lot about quality.
I can't tell if you're serious or just that far gone...........

At 0:30, was that a chaurus? Are they re-using assets from skyrim?

edit: alright, it's not so bad, they just ripped off the mama shrimp from metro last light.

Those two things don't actually look alike but sure ok...........

"Golly mister what time of day is it?" "I'll tell ya billy! It's time for our salt hunt!"

"I found one, sir!" "Shut up Billy, we don't accept the Fallout 3's canon."

That's a stupid argument. Aren't deathclaws just big lizards?

Geckos are canon. You gonna start taking a dump on New Vegas from having them from Fallout 2? Of course you're not.

Yes, mantises are canon as well. Get used to seeing different creatures in an irradiated wasteland.

We don't necessarily know that Nick Valentine is a synth leader. We see he's got access to some time of mainframe, however.

The only reason this lore is "screaming" to you to get gutted is because you hate Bethesda Game Studios. It's a 1:18 long video, just about nothing is revealed.

"Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost?"

Is this not interesting to you? I happen to enjoy interacting with multiple factions and learning about their interactions. Oh, no wait. I'm describing why I like New Vegas again, sorry.

"Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda Game Studios has ever created,"

"largest landmass"

I do actually agree, I think expanding on water creatures in Fallout could end up with some interesting results. I always thought that the engine simply couldn't handle water fights, so this should be interesting to review.

That's it.

Well, The Glowing Sea had some sort of mist thing and it didn't cause my computer to drop in framerate. The cities did that tho. Maybe the woods will do it unless they scale back the draw distance of vegetation.

I've read that the cause for a good chunk of fps drops is due to how the game calculates building and object shadows. The city areas are dreadful, because they have so many shadows to factor in. Yeah, pretty lame reason.

OK, my initial reaction to the trailer is that they're holding back on story, locations, and characters. I don't think the new enemies look terrible, but then I don't think they look great either. But yeah, we have gecks and mantis, so only a matter of time until I get my New Vegas mod. I'm not going to judge it until I've played it. I got the season pass, so I might as well try it. If they can actually make pathed quests with choices along with some decent writing, I'll be happy. Really, that's all I'm asking for at this point.

Oh, and to hell with the Children of the Atom. Unless I find out they unlock something awesome for siding with them, they're gonna get blowed up real good.

Okay, I'm going to be a bit different and give this DLC the benefit of the doubt.
Lets come at this from a marketing perspective.
Now a Trailer is meant to tell me something.
Look at previous Fallout trailers, New Vegas had some perfect DLC trailers (Like the Old World Blues one) which told us exactly what we needed to know.
There was enough substance in that trailer alone to make me interested.

What this trailer basically shows us is things that have already been used, like the story is finding someone's daughter, we know Synths and the Children of the Atom are involved.

We basically get the same shit as before with nothing new.
Now, so far I've had issues with the previous two DLCs.
The first could have taken itself far less seriously, in could have taken a page from OWD without being a direct copy.
The second DLC... well we've already established is just pure shit.

This DLC needs to give us something new.
So you know what, I'm giving Bethesda a chance here.
If Beth release at least one good piece of DLC for F4, and I'm not talking about a generic piece of DLC, I mean like Pitt level or even Point Lookout level good, then I would have considered the price I paid for F4 to be worth it.
If they don't however, and every piece of DLC that gets released for F4 is just shit, then I probably won't pick up another Bethesda game again until either Todd, Emil or Pete leave the Company.
It's clear disaster strikes when those three people are involved on a game together. And we know Todd is at least somewhat talented (or used to be, it's been years since Morrowind came out so maybe he really is just creativity bankrupt).

Despite the issues I have with the gameplay of F4 itself, I'm able to forgive it if I squint a lot and look at it from the angle that it's a somewhat okay game IF the writing is acceptable.

Because so far, someone got paid to write F4, and I would like to know what group of people said that was an okay script to put out. If I gave a script like that to be English Teacher in School, I probably would have failed. So if I can at least sleep knowing that someone at a multi-million dollar company has the ability to write a coherent story, I can at least be somewhat happy.

It can't be that hard...
