Fallout 4 - Far Harbor Official Trailer

I can't tell if you're serious or just that far gone...........

Those two things don't actually look alike but sure ok...........
Extremely similar design, extremely similar location, extremely similar reason for existing. This pic shows it a bit better.

I Don't really judge them here, as Black Isle Studios reused assets a lot of the time, yet they still made decent Fallout games. Bethesda did a lot of things wrong , but IMO reusing assets isn't one of them.
Black Isle, however, made niche adaptations of PnP roll-playing games. We're talking about a AAA studio with more money than sense right now. And it's not just that the textures aren't all that good, I'm fine with that, it's that they are damned lazy. Look at the head in particular, the texture is badly stretched across the model, with no effort made to disguise the fact that it's just one texture, mirrored. They didn't even move around the fucking barnacles.

Now, I will admit, this isn't released yet, so that may be fixed. And there are some weird things in general about the picture (notice the strange pixilations around the edges of some things). And it doesn't actually mean anythign for the rest of the DLC. But if this is the picture, and assumed

At this point I've disconnected from Fallout 4 in terms of the Fallout franchise anyway. Fallout 3 and 4 have stopped bothering me, I've accepted they're a different breed to the old games and nothing I can do will stop that. I value them as open world action games and not Fallout/RPGs anymore anyway. I actually think Far Harbour looks neat as a place in terms of design. It's rule of cool over worldbuilding now and that's fine. That's how Bethesda do.

Ok, I didn't really feel like doing this but I will, what part of the Far Harbor creature glows?, it's head design is entirely different, as it looks to be based off of some kind of shrimp or krill, the shells are not only different in texture but style all together, and the creatures move differently. You might as well say that creature is a rip off of Armored Core 3's quadruped mechs because they have multiple legs and can be painted black!

Creativity and Bethesda are mutually exclusive.

When I saw this trailer my first thought was sort of retconning to the lore will Bethesda do again.

Also you make it sound like those factions will actually have some sort of depth to them, which I highly doubt. The dialogue wheel prevents any sort of conversation that does not feel fake. Also look how factions and their depth in Skyrim and Farcryout 4. It makes it even less believeable.

Bashing the dlc before it comes out is not fair, but let's take a look at the automatron and wasteland workshop. Both proved to be kind of bad, so this DLC will definitely be good? That is illogical.

Anyway, you also have to look at the fart harbour itself. From the trailer we can already that it is a glowing sea 2.0 and the way these people survive is by eating irradiated fish. I look at this realistically and with my newest standards for Todd Howard and his sweet little lies.

You appear to have misunderstood, I'm not saying that beth actually went out and copied the design, only that it looks like they did. A large, swamp-dwelling, hard-shelled, creature caused by radiation. With a similar long sectioned body, flat head, and arm/claw parts held similar to a mantis. As well as the way they hold themselves. They are very similar in design. And, hell, even if it was actually inspired by it, that's not actually a bad thing. All works are derivative in nature, using ideas from the past and expanding upon them.

Also, to my knowledge, those are just phosphorescent plants growing on the shrimp (same way as the rest of the weeds on it)

(edited for clarification)

It looks very meh.

They made a big point of mentioning the fog (which knowing Bethesda, will be very poorly optimized) but absolutely no mention of anything relating to the sea, which is worrying. The character walking slowly into a swamp makes me think there might be some sort of scuba gear (rendered entirely useless by that one perk, but I digress) but I think programming underwater enemies and combat is a bit beyond Beth's capabilities. It's more of an engine issue than anything.

I'm personally excited for the return of Nick Valentine, since he's the best-written character in the entire game and even approaches the territory of being great in general, but being forced to play as his sidekick is absolute shit for roleplaying purposes.

I'm not going to address how the Children of Atom may have gotten to Far Harbor (since I doubt Bethesda will), but it seems to me that their fanaticism should have been with them from the start. I never got a very cult-like vibe from them in the base game, they were just kind of there.

In fact, the whole DLC gives me a very "should have been in the base game" vibe. The crisis of synth infiltrators this town seems to be experiencing should have been in the base game beyond Covenant (which is itself a variation of it, not a basis) and the Church of Atom should have had a real presence and personality in the Wasteland like it did here; the sea should have had a proper exploration mechanic given how it occupies a third of the goddamn map and water-based enemies should have been more numerous, given the propensity for swamps in Boston.

Speaking of enemies, I like how the three enemies presented are varied, at the very least; but what I've noticed with Fallout 4's enemies is that they have one gimmick to distinguish them and then they may as well be all the same. Radscorps can dig, mutants have suiciders, blood bugs steal your blood, etc. and I'm sure these will be just the same.

The synth at the end is clearly Valentine; I compared facial damage and all (he's got some sort of new around his skull, so I had to go by scratches and dings). I'll admit that I thought they should have done more with Nick's robotic nature, especially given he now harbours a dead psychopath in his subconscious, and those few seconds did get a rise out of me; however I'm going to remain cautious about it, since it would be very easy for Bethesda to blow it all to hell.

Ultimately, the most interesting part of the DLC for me is Nick's involvement, so I'll probably just watch it on Youtube or something. If it ends up actually being good I might buy it during a sale, or get a discounted season pass if the other DLCs look promising.

Fallout 3: Find your dad.
Fallout 4: Find your son.
Point Lookout: Find my daughter.
Far Harbor: Find my daughter.

Why do people still accept this shit?
Fallout: We need the water chip or we will die
Fallout 2: We need the G.E.C.K. or we will die

I dont get the hate tho, fallout 4 is one of the most fun games if ever played!
Of course things could be improved like the visuals and of course the rpg elements but as a whole, its an incredibly fun and addicting experience.
Building settlements, exploring the world, meeting characters and doing interesting side quests along the way, ive played almost 100 hours and thers still so much more left to do.
My only complaint would have to be the load times on playstation 4
Fun is subjective. And mind you, in Mrbtongue's words
Is addictive is really something games should aspire to be? Keep in mind that this word ('Addictive') has a negative connotation in almost every other context.
And then, the rest of what you mentioned just tear apart Fallout 4 from being an actual RPG.

Guys.
It's not even out yet.
Guys.
You're bashing on addon that you haven't played yet.
They don't care
Mmmm all these apologist toward Bethesda..... eh. whatever. This site has always been making prediction about the game based on the trailers; heck, the whole internet actually did that for Fallout 4 before it came out and they were right. Well, about 95% of their predictions were right. It's a CIRCLEEEEEEEEEEEE OF BETHESDA, so it's up to Bethesda to break the circle and prove to us they are an actual 'AAA' video game developers. Not that I thought AAA games means good games, you dig?

Fallout: We need the water chip or we will die

Fallout: New Vegas: WHO THE FUCK SHOT ME IN THE HEAD????!!!!

At least 90s Interplay/Black Isle/Obsidian didn't repeat the same old fetch quests as plot device. Even when they did that, though, it blends properly with the rest of the world, as the plot continued into a bigger, more interesting scheme. Unlike Bethesda who repeat it for their vanilla games AND DLCs, and still not getting it interesting and blend nicely with the rest of the world. But, eh, we'll see if they are gonna repeat the same mistake with Far Harbor.

"Apologists towards Bethesda" oh man, I haven't laughed like that in a good while. Believe whatever you like, but all I said was the truth

I've criticized Fallout 2 in the past for being very similar in plot to Fallout 1. In Fallout 3 and 4 though, it's so shoved in your face. False urgency is a bad thing in a game where you're supposed to take your time and appreciate the world. Granted, Fallout 1 had the time limit, but lessons were learned. With Bethesda, it seems like nobody learns any lessons or takes any criticism.

Well, I didn't deny when you said they don't care. Mind you, I'm relatively new to the entire Fallout franchise and the community (especially NMA), since I started with Fallout 3 just last year. Since I haven't actually played Fallout 4, I didn't criticize the game as much as those who've played, so I genuinely expect Bethesda to 'deliver', this time around, since they were well known for good DLCs.

Honestly in a few ways Fallout 4 and 2 share a lot of the same issues, but really it's for a trailer, and people on here love to forget that in Point Lookout the whole "Find my daughter" thing was entirely secondary, not the point for going in the first place.

Does anyone know if this be played after the main quest ?
Well, beth said on there twitter that it didn't have a level requirement, so probably not. OTOH, if they are to explore the fact that Kellog is in Nick's brain, it may be used as a soft cap, meaning you will have to be that far in the story.

But with Point Lookout, it's the first thing that pops up for us and tied us to Point Lookout after that DLC message, since the mother were there immediately before we even board the ferry. Hence, it's easy to remember and immediately associated with the whole Point Lookout anyway. To just repeat the exact same plot, with nearly exact same words? Can't they think about anything else? Like, maybe instead of having a mother begging us to look for her daughter, why not have some other NPCs warning us about people gone missing? It isn't that hard to think of something different, you know?

Nick has a case that leads you to Far Harbor
Something happens to Nick while you are there and the residual memory of Kellogg resurfaces.
Nick/Kellogg tries to kill you and you save him by almost killing him.
Player must have killed Kellogg to start Far Harbor.

A bit late to the party, and I haven't read the other pages so don't mind me if I'm just regurgitating a common opinion, but the art style doesn't even look all that different to literally every building on the coast in Fallout 4 that didn't have art deco architecture. They don't seem to have made it very different.

I never played Point Lookout, so I can't tell how similar it is to Point Lookout. All I can say is that if a lot of people have said it's exactly like Point Lookout, and I'm thinking it's exactly like Fallout 4, then I guess I can't imagine this add-on bringing much to the table. At least it's commendable that for once, they're ripping off their own previous works rather than other people's.

Huh. Maybe you should write for Bethesda. Seems like a lot of pay for an awfully easy job.
