Fallout 4 gameplay videos leaked, Bethesda starts taking them down

The Fallout franchise became a tired joke under Bethesda. Saying "I'm a Fallout fan" used to have some meaning, but now? Now it's pretty much the same as saying that you like Call of Duty...

Bro gamer "You don't play Fallout? You don't like good games?!!!"

2015 and we are STILL using invisible walls.

Triple A production here boys......................

What exactly do you suggest otherwise? Mountains? Fences? The player has to be stopped at some point.

Wait! Didn't the first two Fallouts established that cats are extinct in the post-war world? You just keep pissing on the lore Bethesda!

Is there evidence for that? I've never seen that claimed anywhere and the wiki doesn't say that because House claiming they're extinct which is something he can't possibly know the world over. He's an unreliable narrator on that point for sure.

Van Buren was allegedly going to have cats too.

Actually, yeah, that would be a good idea. They can create a landscape in what ever way they want. They have totall freedom here. So that means you can be a bit more creative than just plastering invisible walls in every corner. Hills/Mountains could be one way to do it. Of course you can not do it in every direction or it will become simply boring, you have to make sure that the limitations look natural, like beeing actually a part of the world, like I said, their job is to be creative.

That makes less sense though, to change the landscape just to stop the player.

New Vegas had some tricks for hiding the edges of the map, like unclimbable cliffs. I think they should have done that. Despite the removal of some things, which was very disappointing to me, like traits, ammo types and Damage Threshold, the dialogue seems to me to have improved. I like the art direction, too. The armors in particular look nice. But I will always remain disappointed they went the route of transplanting Lyons' BoS and Vault 87 super mutants as major factions into the story.

I agree about cats. I'm totally okay with them still existing.

NV had invisible walls too. I'd actually rather them than contrived blockages like junk and walls which are obviously just there to stop you.

I think invisible walls are the least of our concerns anyway. Whether they're there or not doesn't have any affect on how the game is as a Fallout game. I think just about everyone here will agree that the biggest focus should be on how they have presented the story and choices.

Changing the landscape from what exactly? They are CREATING a landscape more or less from the ground up, most probably with real photos and buildings as inspiration, but they sure don't create a realistic representation of the Boston area. I am sure there is enough freedom to create believable barriers. I mean they had no problem to do it with Skyrim after all.

Seriously, you don't have to be some kind of parrot who's always falling in some Bethesda-Defence automatism, particularly when there are obvious alternatives, beeing critical once in a while would really not kill you, or not? If some of us here can actually even agree that Bethesda can do GOOD things once in a while? - See their concept art.

As far as barriers and limitations goes, some parts could be full of very high radiation, other parts could be closed by mountains, another part by a large lake, a deep canion or what do I know!

Wut? I'm not defending Bethesda I'm defending the practice of invisible walls based on mindless hating it. I'm even defending Obsidian here so what you said makes no sense. Even Skyrim had invisible walls:

So? Where did I said Obsidian was perfect. Why do you defend invisible walls over visible walls? That's what I don't understand.

Because invisible walls are less annoying to me than random mountains or garbage to stop you in open world games? Where did I say you said Obsidian was perfect? You accused me of defending Bethesda when tons of companies do this.

Tons of games have also bugs. What do I care what tons of games do? Obsidian at least tried to avoid invisible walls if possible, and it works for the most part.

No clue why anyone would chose invisible walls over natural obstacles.

That's nice dear, I don't care. Your random non sequiturs and misunderstanding what I say give me a headache.
