Fallout 4 gameplay videos leaked, Bethesda starts taking them down

Yeah, but it doesn't fit Fallout. Bethesda should've just done their own stupid Post Apoc IP instead of shitting all over Fallout. THat would've minimized a lot of agression between their fanbase and Fans of the original Fallouts, their fans would've been happy either way and maybe Fallout fans could've had a proper sequel to Fallout 2 that didn't involved using the Gamebryo engine...

Fair enough. I get that too, though. It's disappointing to go from a series essentially about the horrors that can be wrought by war and careless disregard for human life, to something more along the lines of "Dis shit be bangin', yo."

Fallout under Bethesda is written with the same nuance as Borderlands, which is why most of their ardent fans don't even understand complaints about nuance, complexity or good characterization. They just go "Cuz it's awesome boss monster!", they don't care about having interestign stories, despite Fallout always being about the communities that littered the map, their internal conflcits and how they interacted with each other. To The original Fallouts and New Vegas "War never changes" is about human's hubris, the constant struggle for man to survive and the conflicts that come with progress. To Fallout 3 War never changes just means "SHOOT EVERYTHING!!!!".

To be fair, it kind of fits with Borderlands. The story there isn't supposed to be deeply philosophical or a social commentary in any way. It's an excuse to shoot really big things and steal the shinies while poking fun at other games from time to time. Not everyone's cup of tea, granted, but it's fine if you like that sort of thing.

Well it was until Anthony Burch took over the writing and used the series to beat everyone over the head with his Social Justice Warrior politics, in a game about mindless and dumb fun shooting and looting. Seriously, FUCK Anthony Burch!

Heh, i'm sure bethesda is cleaning their tears away with dollar bills, over the damage they have done to original fallout fans.

On the Super Mutant vault; I agree, the vault should not have even been in the damn game. Hell, a better, if not also plot holed, explanation would be that a huge group of Super Mutants headed east and took a vat of the FEV with them. They constantly refresh it with wierd chemicals and shit that they don't how it works and that's why they're so different, dirty mutation. But Bethesda couldn't just read up on lore and do that could they?

Just out of interest, how good of a game does Fallout 4 look from the streams if you just treat it as a borderlands-like game, and removed all fallout reference? How good is it at what it aims to do?

Honestly I didn't have any issues with his writing and enjoyed it just fine. To each their own.

As much as I hate the Burchsticle, I didn't really notice much keyboard activism in the game, mainly cause me and my bosom buddies were blowing shit up, was it worse in dlc? He must not be a very good writer if explosions can drown out his "message".

It's adecuate at what it aims to do, which is just being a mindless loot shooter. It suffers from the weapons having really shitty designs and the AI being just brain dead most times. The Settlement Building is also needlessly slow because they thought keeping the first person view during construction of structures was a good idea and the placement of elements seems extremely buggy with a guy on stream struggling for minutes to try and make an "L" shape with 2 walls but the game either kept snapping the wall somewhere else or it didn't let him place it despite not intersecting with anything. The graphics are also out of a 2008 game and the aesthetic makes everything look even more like plastic toys.

Not bad, it's a little cliche but what game isn't these days? Those bugs though :irked:

The Leveling system is also extremely broken, with a bunch of perks havingas their only purpouse giving you temporary boosts thagt don't have much of an actual effect during combat or anywhere else.

In The Pre-Sequel he goes full Tumblr. There was at lest restraint with Borderlands 2 but then he decided to insult half the fanbase by being a typical SJW and making characters mouth pieces for his politics. A good writer shows restraint and a respect for his audience. Anthony Burch has none of that.

Uh... bad. Too indecisive on what it wants to be. To keep in ostensibly post-apocalyptic, it would pale in comparison to something like Metro and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with their shooting mechanics and emphasis on survival and seems to fall short in the story as well due to lacking any sort of focus. While I wouldn't call Borderlands a post-apocalypse game, its close enough and it's focus on loot and interesting weapons would far outstrip anything I've seen in Fallout 4 so far.

If they want to start focusing more on the shooting mechanics of the game, they really should try and move in a direction towards what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was. If they want to make a shooter like Borderlands that is almost Diablo-esque, then they would need to put a lot of time and care into different sorts of gear and making that gear distinct and desirable instead of just a side option.

Ah, well. Alright then, i'll look into it some more on my own, thanks for the info. Now, let's stop talking about that crappy game and more about this meh game!

Hell, Red Dead Redemption still looks better then Fallout 4 and that game came out in 2010 I believe.

If you want settlement building that badly in Fallout, just install the KSCampstuff mod and Wasteland Defense. They actually have more variety and aren't as buggy with item placement. They are also free.

Well, a german let's play that lasted 2 seconds has confirmed:

No Ron Perlman narration.... amazing.... They want to put these generic sounding fucker even in the intro....
