Fallout 4 has now gone gold

"I didn't like F:NV cuz it broke the fallout lore"
No one can be this stupid. How the hell did NV broke the lore when it is the CLOSEST Fallout game to the two first two Fallout games, LOREWISE?

It broke FO3 lore >:'I

Some people just don't recognize genres and such. I've had arguments that could be summed down by simple failure to recognize a genre. Like a friend of mine who feels that GTA is awesome, FO3 is awesome, and Battlefield is awesome, ergo the 3 games should merge, to become thrice as awesome. Everything GTA has, Fallout should have, cus GTA is awesome, and everything Fallout has, GTA should have too, like mutants and radiation, cus that's awesome.
And trying to explain that post-apo and urban-gangster are two different worlds, only grants me confused gazes, like I'm babbling about quantum physics or something, "I don't care about litterature, I just want the game to be more awesome!"

I hate people.
Man, this whole month has been tough people-hating wise.

Not all people though... just most people... It's temporary, it comes and goes!

(it would have been fun if all the replies were about those dumb bits about his personal life)

If you really want to blow his mind, tell him that GTA was originally an isometric view and so was Fallout, and so they should both be now because it was awesome.

Heh, except this will be dismissed as "it was old and shitty back then!"

GTA has also done a good job at staying true to itself, despite the change of visual approach (with the exception of GTA San Andreas, which was a bit too jolly and infantile in my opinion, but they really redeemed themselves with GTA 4 and 5, in my opinion anyway)

In my opinion GTA 4 and 5 broke the mold, the game was never dark. It was about doing crazy shit and scoring points actually.

Imo GTA4 stepped away from the mini-game-collectible-fun-extravaganza of San Andreas, and made it a "pure" gangster-game again, similar to the very first game, and I was very appreciative of that
GTA5 had Trevor's storyline, which, well, speaks for itself :D Without Trevor, it would have been very different, since his character brought a lot of darkness to the scenario.
I also like how they are still quite realistic in portraying believable fucked-up-ness :D (Like in Bully, if you played it - the portrayal of that sociopathic kid gives me chills!)

And I think the first games were quite dark, but that may be personal experience. When you beat the first game, you are given a cynical pat on the shoulder. The missions are given to you by phone, there is no inter-human connection, you are a pawn in someone elses game, and you gladly accept, in a very given-up-on-life manner - that's how I saw it anyway

If not dark then definitely cold and cynical

Are you referring to Jimmy Hopkins, the protagonist of the game?

Not at all, Jimmy isn't even a bully, he's a "trouble-child" as we call them here.
(In fact, I too often see a very general use of the word "bully", that is detrimental to the real issue, like when some articles go "70% of children are bullied" "I was bullied yesterday, my best friend told me I'm a silly-goose :D" no, that's not bullying, and boys play-fighting isn't bullying, and a "trouble-child" smashing windows isn't bullying either - but all that for another discussion!)

I'm refering to the hitler-jugend-haircut sociopath boy who is the antagonist of the game.
Jimmy dislikes him right away, because he is so obviously manipulative

Just wanted to make sure who you were referring to. I wanted to punch the little douche's face in when he first spoke.

Just pre-ordered it for the pre-loading on Xbone. I don't pre-order anymore but with preloading for a game I really want I sure will.
