Fallout 4 Launch Trailer

I was making my comparison to the last 2 games, which I feel the new system is better. A lot of the perks i do like and depending on your character build all of the SPECIAL can be useful this time. Far as perks like Night person and Mr Sandman(though you can get some sneak bonuses now)they've always sucked. Also a few people who have actually played the game, seem to also like the new system too. i guess we'll all see in a little over a few days now.

All the perks now are just percentage increases, gating content that used to just be part of the natural level up progression or completely useless. They made the level up much more rigid. You can only upgrade a single aspect of the character, and with the game lacking so much in diplomatic and pacifist routes, almost every perk is entirely combat oriented. Even Animal friend requires you to draw your weapon on hostile creatures to work. It's a complete step backwards, even Fp3 skill system was better. The New Vegas one was definetly better by a thousand miles than this new one.

Agreed, they're boring, limited and nowhere near the interesting, powerful and fun perks in FO1/2.

So bladerunner androids are confirmed hmm... that's it, not even going to bother pirating this shit.

I know, that plot totally bores me and is really not in keeping with the Fallout setting...I don't care about that stupid quest in FO3, replicant like androids just don't fit in with Fallout.

I don't see how they are even possible. Wonder if we'll get some explanation on that.

Why not? The Institute is apparently underground, and they have been for two centuries... AI was getting pretty advanced anyways, what with the pervasiveness of robotics and the ZAXes...

In fact, the android angle really interests me. Because I don't take it for granted that because something *acts* like a true AI that it *is* a true AI.

This seems more like the easier route: 10 Strength, 10 Endurance (there is an auto-heal skill lol), and 4 Luck (it only takes 3 luck to get to Bloody Mess).

So once again Luck is worthless. I wonder way Beth bothers to have the SPECIAL since they really don't give a damn about the RPG elements that made Fallout great in the first place.
Once again depends on the player. Some people enjoying getting criticals and using VATS. Also, that Ricochet Perk can come in handy and that last rank of the Fortune Finder Perk sounds bananas too! Different strokes...

There is a few cool perks... I just don't see how those few perks merit discarding the whole Skill system, dumbing down SPECIAL and only have 70 perks.... They could have easily applied those in an Expanded version of the old system.

If there is a Synth companion in the game and he is given big shiny eyes and they pull an Anthropomorphized AI story with it I will just open fire on them.

Careful with spoilers in this thread. In the other threads with spoiler chat there was leaked or spoiler in the title.

That's just it though, there's a big aesthetic difference if nothing else between Zax & various Mr Handy like robots, and a synthetic human being indistinguishable from an organic human being. At this point they might as well have replicators and transporters, since apparently Lieutenant Commander Data is now part of the suite of accepted Fallout technologies.

Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing a return to some of the more "paranormal" aspects of the original Fallout, like psykers (and perhaps even having the option to assign a psyker trait at the beginning of the game to your character) or a new kind of humanoid mutant aside from ghouls and Supies. But that's definitely not going to happen in a Bethesda game.

One way it could work was if the Synths are just simple robotic frames that are getting a signal braodcasted into them that is born out of a gian Zax terminals that is just meant to create simple work routines for them and only special Synths, lik infiltration units and such get an actual AI broadcasted into them. But this would probably not make sense wit hHarkness and the stupid Fo3 quest...

That could work, but is probably too logical for Bethesda to bother implementing...

I'd prefer a brutal wire-mesh-frame with fake bits of skin hanging off.

I wouldn't mind if we had the equivalent of a T-800 or those creepy rubber skinned terminators - something that was purposely in the uncanny valley. But to have Roy Batty running around in Fallout? I just can't wrap my head around it.

Since the Institute has been isolated for over two centuries, I'll give it a pass. After all, Fallout isn't literally in the 1950s as some may believe.

during the stream the guy fought some synths, and they look pretty creepy, rubber skin with exposed mesh everywhere, so no roy batty yet anyway. It looks like they've taken the chance to retcon the synths appearance from Fallout 3 into something more off putting.
