Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

No because I didn't realize a new one had been released. I just learned about f1_res version 4.1.3 yesterday.

middle button weapon swap doesnt work anymore, besides upon using it, I got crashes again. for now, I'll play without it.

I see, swift learner is still useless. damn you for fixing the book lady, can no longer steal the items back and instarefill gone too :)

Schezza -- updating to the newest f1_res caused crashes?

---

Those of you getting worldmap crashes, please send me your ddraw.ini, f1_res.ini, fallout.cfg and a sysinfo32 log (Start->Run->sysinfo32.exe in WindowsXP, Start->"System Information" in Windows 7/8. Then click File->Export.

I changed FIXT files, so I wasn't playing under new HiRes yet. Anyway, new highres and the files you just provided:

Weapon swap dead, scrolling items now only works if you are directly over them. I'd rather have crashes than not being able to weapon swap and use proper scrolling. In combat, now also locks the position of your cursor if it isnt your round. Your actions get recorded though and once it's your round again, the cursor jumps to wherever you moved it to. This is annoying, please game, crash, so I can change back again.

Edit: woot, I crashed. can finally change it back
New files also limit again, how far you can move.

I don't know whats going on, my f1_res says Directdraw is enabled, my f1resconfig says im running direct X... changing mod in config doesnt edit f1_res. is that normal? Anyway, both DD and Direct X don't weapon swap etc.

Btw, was it on purpose, that no matter the settings, no matter the death, any gun is no longer dropped with the corpse? Even if you pick 2 hex, in early stages and body stacking and no highlighting like in F2, that wasn't the smartest thing to do :P

Did the gunrunners always have a patch at the right side of the building or is that new?
What happened to the deathclaw? They had like double APs.
aww, the guy who voiced overseer died already

grat job, sduibek.

i ve encoutered another bug, though. i ve played fallout with fixt version 6.0 and got a beth bug described earlier by others. then i reinstalled fallout and patched with fixt version 6.1. beth responds as she should, but leaving the map makes the game crash. soemthing like
Code:
application error c:..falloutw.exe. the instruction at 00bd4d80 referenced memory at 0000000c. The memory could not be read from. Click on OK to terminate the application

Do you get this same error with a new character?

UniversalWolf could you try updating f1_res and see if that makes a difference? It can be downloaded here http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1435
Sure.

I missed your post yesterday...the one I quoted above, so yesterday I downloaded the new files you provided to everyone a few posts ago and installed them. They seem to have stopped the WM crashes, but I'll check into it more to be sure.

That may be helpful to you, actually. Your new files appear to have fixed my crashes before updating f1_res.

If you are able to confirm this 100%, please let me know.

Since I've never personally gotten the crashes, it's either an issue with the plugin settings (ddraw, f1_res) or the Fallout settings (fallout.cfg), or the computer's hardware/software/OS itself.

What's strange is I've had roughly 5 people send their settings files to me, and so far I haven't seen any trends in similarities between their setups.

Did you check if all people used sound cards?

Last game I played, I had to run with "--softwareaudio". Gonna try the same now.

No I didn't think to check into audio. There's well-documented need for disabling hardware audio acceleration for Fallout on some systems but I've never heard of it causing crashes, just issues with behavior and performance.

What is your OS?

Win 7 Pro with Xonar DGX. Path of Exile had problems with it. I switched back to your FIXT hires and the parameter and haven't had any crashes since. (except, for the 1st time, I had a crash while quitting in the main menu)

You raised the costs for improving your stats by a ton, haha, I started the char with 5 agility, I always go with atleast 9 :P

And because I'm trying the mutant invasion, I actually need to go back to Boneyard and get my Powerarmor improved, because I can't even deliver the chip before that anymore. Because I am a retard and can't read and choose the right option haha. Gonna try and see if a FIXT change will actually change the savegame.

Btw, I took every drug, but I still couldn't seduce Lori? No youtube video of it either? You didn't choose something like you can't have sex under 18, did you?

Alright. Made a new character, even accidently used jinxed to get 3 crimpled limbs on my way out, but disabled water chip, longer than 150 days, or even 60 days doesnt work for me? Guess, I'll have to get a clean installation to make sure.

Nope, clean gog installation, 6.1, 60 days chosen, doesn't work. And the first time I tested it with 365 days with a new char, I actually rested 150 days to make sure it wasn't something invisible.

I'm not even sure, if --softwareaudio works, because with --nosound I still have sound.

100% is going to be tough considering the nature of the crashes, but I can tell you everything is working so far. I may start a new game since I saw the most problems between Junktown and Necropolis.

I can tell you this as well: before I installed your new files, I had saved on a mutant patrol random encounter in the far northwest corner of the map, and I was getting crashes every time I tried to move on the worldmap. After the new files, the crashes vanished. It's not 100% verification, but it's a very good sign.

Hmm... that might be causing the problem maybe. I have an Asus Xonar DG with custom drivers found here.

Interesting. Thank you.

I forget and I'm not at my computer at the moment, did you send me your files before installing mine?

Also please send that save game if you still have it.

Could those getting crashes please try changing between these two values in fallout.cfg and see if it makes a difference -- my system has the larger amount so I'm wondering if the crashes are somehow related to the sound cache being too small (unlikely, but worth checking)

Code:
[sound]
cache_size=10240
and
Code:
[sound]
cache_size=32000
in fallout.cfg

That discrepancy with sound cache size is the only trend I've seen in differences between users getting FIXT crashes and my own personal files.

Sorry for spamming, but it's pretty funny this time. Look what free filesharing services have done to you, Sduibek!
