Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

I unistalled fallout fixt alpha3, unistalled fallout1 then re-installed it and installed alpha 4. I started a completely new game. Now, Ian is missing... He is not in the right building as you enter shady sands and as far as I know he is not in either map of shady sands.
You shouldn't need to uninstall between versions, it'll just overwrite the stuff that's new when you install the new one (in this case, v4)

I see what happened though, somehow the old Ian critter is in here even though i've updated him a few times already. The joy of having multiple copies of data after system crashes / backups. I'll include it with my patch mentioned above.

Does anyone have a problem with spicing up the Raiders camp a bit? I already added the prisoner which I think is a neat change -- he doesn't have a whole lot of dialog (I didn't change what was already in the file) but this would be graphics changes - a few to the map itself, but mostly changes such as adding the "Khan" graphic and "Black Tribal" graphic from our friends here at NMA. Other things I played around with was adding a few more Raiders, a few roaming dogs, and the Stop sign

Examples to give a rough idea:

In my opinion, the stop sign is somewhat pointless because you can pass through the guard without stopping. I think that some sort of sculpture/totem would be fit better.

The other changes are OK.

Hmm. I'm a big fan of the Khan graphics, but I'm not so sure about adding more raiders. It's already a tough battle that early in the game (if you try to take them all on).

Ohhhhh I forgot about that. Okay, well then the most i'll do is move a couple around (I like having a guy stand next to that fire, for example). Maybe one or two dogs.

Well it's not meant to be literal, more just kind of a figurative "fuck you" thing that I think it'd make sense for a band of raiders to have at their "home base".

Overall I'm really just trying to add more life to the Raiders. I always felt they weren't as established as they could be, so one of the things i'd like to see long-term is have it more fleshed out in context of quests, dialog, and graphics/critters.

I followed your instructions and, just like before, Set keeps saying "Still in my shadow? Why do normie tongues waggle and take the movement from their bones? Clear-time, walk now".
Place this in your {FalloutFIXT}\DATA\SCRIPTS folder and say Yes to Overwrite, talk to him again, let me know if he says the right things now.

Beware of the game balance, when adding those NPCs. In an early stage, every of the conquered experience point counts. (Also, I remember how Pixote was nearly lynched here, when his RP graphics improvements were released, hihi.)

Still broken. Can someone else confirm it?

I'd honestly prefer you leave that map as it is, or make it optional in your FIXT installer.
Same here. Some totems, <s>stone heads</s> sculptures, and half naked dudes would remind me of Suckroyo, and its cliche portrait of <s>primitive</s> low-tech societies. Besides, this map is ok. There are far more shitty maps that needs fixing...

yep - I went a little over the top and had my balls ripped from my body. With every revision of the RP I removed more stuff, and it looks better for it...

I never really had a problem with the F1 maps, except for Shady Sands, Vacant Sands more like it, but overall the towns looked more fractured in F1, compared to F2.

Empty Sands -

The Hub is terrific -

But "Empty Sands" makes the location feel as if it's in the desert-- which it is. There just isn't much more than sand and adobe walls. It gives the location it's needed unique appearance (every Fallout 1 location is unique in it's look and atmosphere).

True, also you have to remind that the city only looks so awkward because you are using a higher resolution. In 640x480 it doesn't look as "empty". One of the reasons I don't like to use high resolutions in Fallout.

I can't argue there...maybe it was built with utopian ideals - (a clean break from the past). Anyway the game needs to be played up close, that way the spaces feel purposeful, at high-res it looks wrong.

@Surf Solar - you got in just before me.

I see no atmosphere in void, and pointless spread out. Thanks to it, lack of variety of artwork, and that "fake" perfection this location feels out of place since very first play-through to me. And I'm not playing Fallout in other resolution than default, by the way.

But with what do you want to fill it? Junk cars, metal stuff all around? This would take away the big desert feeling again.

You could add makeshift tools and shelters, some tents maybe, a well or some agricultural tools..

But I honestly prefer it as it is. To me, the town delivers the atmosphere it is supposed to have.

Not fill, but reduce (+ few small details close to the walls) ;) I'll repost quick example I've made for MR forums:

(we already discussed this issue over there)

Yes, saw it. But that would turn the location into something totally different, atmosphere-wise.
