Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

I actually like Shady Sands the way it is. :( It's supposed to be large, but boring like Tandi says.
Same, but I'm never aversed to changes. As long as I like them, haha. Continuum when you finish that feel free to start a thread or send to me or something. I'll play around with it and consider including it as an option in the mod.

I went through this thread and added everything that hadn't already been fixed or posted to the Bug Reports Wiki. Lets keep up the good work.
Thanks!

Do I need to do anything special for my mod to work on MacOSX?

Not fill, but reduce (+ few small details close to the walls) ;)
Reduction is done 8-) For reference - original one. Pixi's adobe walls joints don't fit... or maybe it's just me... I've made new ones from scratch.

Sduibek, do you want CITY5.MAP without Fallout 2 related artwork for random encounters? One map included with original game isn't really random :o

Your screen doesn't work.

The walls don't fit, because they are different in Fo1, compared to Fo2. The offsets are changed + some other differences (doors, interior walls, etc).

That reminds me, CITY 2 through 4 don't exist. According to the files I'm looking at, Fallout 1 only has 1 city map.

Well, Tandi says "little town" Besides, number of houses, their size is the same (in fact I want to add one more house to SS East). Only empty space houses <==> walls is gone.

Nah, it was related to discussion we had few pages back... I'm not planning to release it... revisionism isn't very popular here... :ugly:

Surprise, isn't it? Here.

Yeah, I've noticed that after porting adobe doorway from Fallout 2... Pixi's (?) interior round windows will be useful too. Personally I think they're very style-ish/unique in opposite to that ancient-ish like crap.

Tandi

Hey Sduibek, great work!

Any chance we can see Tandi turning to a full NPC? I'm trying to get her to equip power armor, any way to do this?

Thank you

Working on it, this is planned.

Hey Sduibek, did you ever reduce the Holodisc entries down to 13? (By placing them in computers, notes, dialogue, etc.) I checked the Wiki and it seems that it was taken off the "Suggestions".

I moved it under Engine Bugs. Wasn't sure where to put it but that matches closest, because it does cause crashes and whatnot.

If you like you can always use the History option on Wiki pages. Quite useful. :monocle:

EDIT: Example for this case: http://falloutmods.wikia.com/index.php?title=Fallout_FIXT_bug_reports&diff=15898&oldid=15891

Well now, I had no idea that even existed. :D I really ought to familiarize myself with things I haven't used in a while.

I also like the official version of Shady Sands. The big empty space makes me feel - it's the Fallout-world and it goes along the descriptions of Tandi.

Not sure what I think about the wall though...are there other such locations throughout the F world where walls merge with bordering buildings (can't remember right now)?

I'm going to do my best to fast-track release of alpha 5 so that I can focus all my time and energy working on Fallout2-engine version.

EDIT: Alright, got the installer file cleaned up, phase 1 complete

You should call it Version 1.0 Final, since you are moving on. More people will play it this way.

Isn't that kinda cheating though? Misleading at least.

I think I wouldn't mind saying Beta Final though.

I think you should only make clear it's deprecated in favour of the FO2 conversion. Like an engine switch from the same project or something like that. And keep it the same version it was intended to be, but starting the conversion with alpha 6.

Figured I'd give this a shot... Problems found so far:

1. The woman (I guess) in Shady Sands, farms map, who asks you to take care of the radscorpion problem doesn't have a low int dialogue, and keeps telling you "time is of the essence" after you've dealt with the problem.

2. The Storyteller doesn't seem to serve a purpose?

3. Intimidating Lemmy in The Hub with a STR check doesn't work for some reason. I'm playing a STR 10 character currently.

4. Killing Vance in The Hub is now pointless, he has nothing on his corpse and there is no stash in his flophouse. I suppose this is the consequence of removing the exploit of being able to barter with him even though you didn't come with recommendations.

I may actually be able to release the "last Fallout 1 version of FIXT" today. If not today then probably by the end of the week.

Regarding the versioning I'll call it Beta 1. Beta because it's feature-complete (no sense adding new stuff to this when I'm switching engines) but I don't assume it's free of bugs or issues, particularly issues like me fucking something up with the packing of the files like I've done before

EDIT Aug 30th: Installer script is pretty much done. Just need to have it check for Fallout install folder, and to include a FAQ. After that, update install documentation, type up New Stuff In This Version documentation, and I think that's about it.

EDIT2 Aug 30th: Rewrote the preinstall and postinstall information in installer. Folder-check not implemented yet, and I won't at the moment because the code confuses me.

I just downloaded FIXT and I'm anxious to install it.

I install both non-Steam and Steam games in my "C:\Games" directory. However, Fallout I is installed in "C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout" folder.

The installation program seems to suggest that the default path for FIXT is the main game directory (C:\Games) but when I clicked on the "32.bit OS.BAT" file, I ran into problems, something about not being able to find a file.

Should the FIXT folder be installed inside the Fallout I folder?

If outside, would it make any difference whether I use "C:\Games\" or "C:\Games\Steam\" directory?

Thank you.

Ignore the default install path that the installer generates. It's not doing any detection of existing directories/installations. I haven't set it up to do that yet.

It shouldn't matter which of your Fallout installs you use, GOG will work as will the other one.

And yes install it directly on top of an existing Fallout installation folder.
