Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

I have alpha 5.2 completed but I can't upload it right now, I have to go to work.

It will be uploaded and available for download at about 7pm (19:00) Pacific time this evening.

Funny, I found FIXT earlier today, installed it and no Ian. Found this thread earlier. Went out shopping, by chance came back at exactly 7pm pst. Now I'm hitting refresh a lot =P

Change Log:
[spoiler:d48f3b9037]Alpha 5.2 changes: [September 16, 2012]
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

BUGS FIXED:
- Ian and Tycho are no longer missing

AUDIO:
- Now have option to use button-click sounds from Fallout Demo instead of standard. These sound metallic instead of like plastic.

ANIMATIONS ADDED:
- Tramp and Female Loser pistol-firing animations (from F2RP)
- Child running-on-fire animations (from F2RP)
- Robobrain "running" animation
- Male Loser fixed offsets idle animation (from F2RP)
- Tycho now has proper "bald guy" graphics for Power Armor and Combat Armor, unless of course the user opted out of NPC appearance changes
----Note: Ian still uses standard graphics for Power Armor and Combat Armor, as I cannot locate "long hair dude" versions of those animation sets.
- Tycho and Ian now have an option to allow them to use all weapons. I haven't done Katja yet because apparently I'm lazy or something.
- Option to change Ian's idle animation to him smoking instead of normal one. (kids, don't do cigarettes. it's bad)

GRAPHICS INTERFACE STUFF:
- Can now choose to use red main menu courtesy of .Pixote. (seriously check it out, it's awesome and ominous)
- Option to install extra splash screens (eventually these will be able to each be installed individually, and have screenshots of each. Please be patient)
- Splash screens no longer stretch-to-fit by default

TEXT CHANGES:
- "Lost Hill" changed to "Lost Hills"
- better message than "You fail to learn anything"
- punctuation fix for a particular response to Set
- "Khan's" to "Khans'"
- multiple changes/additions to text of EDITOR.MSG
- "you some kinda of" changed to "you're some kinda" (Guard AI combat float msg)
- minor text fixes in SCRIPTS.LST
- removed a couple unnecessary capitalizations in PRO_CRIT.MSG
- a few changes to TRAIT.MSG and PERK.MSG

BAD STUFF REMOVED
- cheater debug mode removed (thanks ZebraJCH)

INTERNAL STUFF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT:
- INTRO.CFG and HEADS.LST now included

DOCUMENTATION CHANGES:
- Additions, edits and clarifications to the readme files and Troubleshooting file

Ian is restored! I installed over-the-top and all is well. Now I must offer some feedback. What is the deal the second Elder (besides Aradesh) in Shady Sands? Is that restored content? It's very incongruous and doesn't really make sense, in that he causes you to be far too powerful at that stage of the game. The merchant isn't too bad because his items cost something, but a free tripling of my AC? Made the next few maps way too easy imo.

Unless I'm totally wrong, it's part of a Russian Update Mod created by Pal. According to the author, it's indeed a restored content, as he stated in readme file:
I've studied posts on www.Fallout.ru (Wasteland Hellbringer's especially)
concerning characters and quests that never made it to release due to lack of
time or other Interplay's problems. Finally, I came with idea to make such a
mod that will bring Fallout 1 to the previously intended by the developrs form.

Ah crap I forgot about that. Yeah a few characters were done as restoration but weren't necessarily implemented very gracefully.

Shit, I forgot to fix the crash with Vance in The Hub Old Town.

Well, looks like a alpha 5.3 is coming soon. lol.

Near as I can tell, the Swift Learner perk I just grabbed is not working.
I just tested this and it does work, but the original experience values are displayed in the message window. Weird. I'll ask around if this can be fixed.

Sounds great!

However... Is there a way to make the resolution patch optional; (or disable it after install)?

I don't play the game in shrink-mode; it just seems too awkward.

Yes this is very easy, either change to 640x480 in f1_res.ini (I suggest this, because it adds some stuff that's still useful at standard resolution) or if you want to get rid of it entirely, you simply need to run f1_res_patcher.exe

I only played in 640x480 for a long long time, it wasn't until about a month ago that I switched to 800x600. I really dig the extra space in the message window, and since "most" people play in a higher res anyway, I think starting it at 800x600 by default is a good balance.

I am taking C++ at school this quarter, so once I get better with that I'll be making a loader which will allow quick changes to these things instead of having to edit the text files directly.

EDIT: Digging the enclave armor in your sig.

Hey Sduibek, I'd like to apologize for not getting around to testing, school's been kicking my ass but you can expect me to be on board again more often once I get things in order.

Until then...Keep up the good work.

For the next version, in addition to fixing a couple reported issues I'm going to have an option to use the EU font -- it is font3 and font4 internally, which are the fonts used for the main GUI and the main menu. It's the same as the US version font, except compressed horizontally -- so basically it's more narrow, less wide.

Cool, sounds good.

You are my minion of bug-fixing! Go forth and conquer! :salute: :ok:

Not sure if this is a known bug, but: [spoiler:8eb7f25157]in Junktown the Skullz never asked me to get the Urn, but I have the quest anyway. [/spoiler:8eb7f25157] Also, I have crashed a lot in Junktown. I believe once it was loading from a corrupted save, and twice while zoning.
