Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Sarcasm or not on dudejo001's part, people tend to not like non-canon stuff. The guys at RPGCodex have made that very clear ;)

So will everything be optional in the next minor release? No. (5.4 or 5.5)

Is it planned to have everything optional in the next major release? Yes. (6.0 and beyond)

Thank you, that information is very helpful :)

If you use the Falloutw.exe from FIXT in Windows XP SP3 compatability mode, does it still crash?

Yes, it crashed again but I found the reason for that... My comodo firewall... If I shutdown the firewall, the whole FIXT package works perfect... Took me a long time to figure this out...

Aha! Very good to know for further troubleshooting of other users.

I appreciate you doing the research and testing, it will help others. Your sacrifice was a noble cause :) :salute:

When I hack the computer on the 4th level of the military base to decrypt what the codes mean, no matter what I choose, the game crashes. Dunno if you're already looking into fixing that, but it's pretty game stopping.

Are you playing alpha 5.2 or 5.3?

Alpha 5.3

Okay. For 5.4 I worked a lot on the military base computer so it's already fixed for the next release. For the time being I guess you have to use explosive on it

In theory I'll be able to actually get some work done on FIXT over the break between this and Summer quarters..... this quarter ends roughly June 14th, and Summer starts on July 1st.

So that's only two weeks, but if I can put aside that time to mostly just work on FIXT, I'll be able to add a bunch more stuff to the "test version" and then release it.

Wish me luck ;)

Hey, I see you integrated Mash's hi-res mod 4.01. Mash's hi-res mode 4.0.2 is available now. Can we apply 4.0.2 after installing FIXIT, or will that break FIXIT?

Hi, first of all thanks for all your hard work. However I have a particular problem.

I have followed the previous advice from Smack's post on installing the patch on a GOG version of the game. However, upon launching the game I am unable to enter the options menu. The slot were the options menu should be is there however there is no icon or anything.

Can't really comment any further on the graphics and whatnot since I am not playing the game when I already know that I have not properly installed this mod. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi! Welcome to the forums and thank you.

If you don't see Options, that means hi-res is not installed correctly.

This could be due to using the GOG exe instead of mine (although I doubt that, but it's possible), or not having the exe patched correctly, or not having f1_res.dll or f1_res.ini present in the FIXT folder.

Run the patcher for hi-res again (it should have a exe in the FIXT folder) and when you click to patch it, read the popup very carefully to make sure it's said "Patched successfully" or something to that effect.

-----

If enabling causes issues, you should make sure it's not caused by antivirus, being installed in Program Files, try running the game in Compatibility Mode, etc.

Sduibek could you possibly add an optional fix that includes the shortened the mutants-finding-vault time limit (if you buy water for your vault from the Water Merchants) that was in the original game but was cut out with the official patch?

Thanks. I went ahead and applied the fix, and it works great. Love the FITIT.

Definitely, thanks for the reminder.

Woah, long time no see.

I barely can remember anything.

How's ti going, Sduibek?
It goes. School is pretty rough, I'm going to be so happy when it's over. I have 1 year left so I'll be done June 2014.

I got a new girlfriend about a month after v5.3 released so that's been quite excellent. She's really hot. Plus she likes good music and good movies, and cooks, and likes to wrestle, and... (trails off)

On the downside, that means less time to work on FIXT because I'm busy <s>nailing</s> spending time with my lady. Which is :( and :D, respectively.

For the mod, I released a testing-only v5.4 but it didn't have a huge list of changes.

The biggest news is TarkinMX is working on a loader/frontend and it's pretty awesome. I think people will really like it.

Other than that, I'm definitely working on implementing a "Fixes Only" install option, which should make many people happy, as well as if they choose normal install option, can customize all the added stuff.

Oh and next release will have a Use All Weapons option for Katja using the proper look (finally, woohoo!) due to the hard work of Geras.

I've been looking at my files periodically between <s>procrastinating</s> <s>avoiding</s> doing my homework, and I really don't think it'll take that much work to get a new release out.

I stand by what I have already said, that getting to the goal of having a true Bug Fixes Only option will take some time, but just getting out the next release with "more optional things" is definitely doable without tons of work.

Sooo, expect a new version released by July 1st.
