Tjuh--- Fog of War removes creatures and such from areas not in the character's line of sight. I haven't personally tried it though. Basically so you can't spy on enemies and instead have a realistic idea of what's around.
Like something Baldurs Gate had, right? Sounds awesome as hell, I played the hell out of an earlier release but it sounds like I'll be giving it another go after the next one :D

Will there be any features related to it, like a farsight perk or hacking security consoles in bunkers or whatevs to see into areas in the line of sight of security cameras? It's a longshot since it sounds like hell to code but it would be cool
Ask Mash, it's from the hires mod(s), not me :P

I agree though, that would be neat.

Fog of War does sound cool, I'm not sure why I haven't played with it yet  I haven't really messed around with version 4.0.1/4.0.2 of hires very much.

It doesn't work very well, the roof tiles aren't affected, and it slows the game somewhat, but it's just version 1 so it can only get better.

Doing schoolwork sucks so much ass compared to modding and making comics. I'm surprised how many people actually complete college/uni. I'm taking classes in things I'm interested in and I still hate it.

Hello, I have a problem, I can't save just before raiding Gizmo with Lars, saves will become corrupt, nor I can even start the raid, because an error will appear.

What version are you playing?

Also useful information for me:
did you start this character new with that version of FIXT
is Tycho on your team
did you select "NPCs don't change appearance when changing armor" during install
please provide the savegame
had your character ever talked to Gizmo before the crash

I'm using the Alpha 5.3..
No, Tycho is not on my team.
No, the change appearance option is selected.
A couple of savefiles (try using 8, it's before getting the confession from Gizmo, the try to raid him.) http://www.mediafire.com/?cw7unshv4kgsalq
Yes, I've talked to him before the crash.

EDIT: I found a solution, before talking to Gizmo, I went to Shady Sands, then returned and talked to him, everything is ok now.

Some walls or wall element are completely white or just turn bleach. A part of vault 13 cave entrance for example, or some walls and lamps near Seth position for example. Is there any way to fix this? On windows 7 64bit if it matters, using the steam version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is due to version 4.0.1 of f1_res. If you upgrade to 4.0.2 or downgrade to 3.0.6 it will go away.

Download links are in my signature.

I love you... i really do.. I will try it now and report back. Any special install instructions?

Edit: this is what i did, i went into my fallout directory, and deleted the f1_res folder because the readme said to, i then copied the 4.0.2 patch and extracted it into the directory. I ran f1_res_config.exe and made sure at the bottom hi-res was enabled. So am i good to go? Can i just resume my current game and not have an issue or does it need a fresh game? BTW Thank you sooo much for the support.

It seems the added content of giving Pulse Grenades to Sophia in the Brotherhood of Steel compound doesn't work. Just thought I'd mention that.

FIXT + Windows 7 64 bit + GOG Fallout version

Hi, first of all I want to thank you so much for ur effort and ur great work! I love fallout 1 & 2. I finished both several times and it's great to play it now without all these bugs and even more functionality. Moreover, I like how carefully u changed for example the critters in some places.

I spent now a whole day by figuring out how FIXT could work with my old German Fallout version. Unfortunately I was not able to do it. I always got a black screen and my computer didn't work at all and freezed. Even alt + tab or alt + ctrl + del didn't work. So I had to switch off the power supply of my computer...

Then I bought the gog version of Fallout. Which also works fine with Windows 7 and 64 bit. However, if I installed FIXT, I got again the black screen and it is really nasty to always switch off ur power supply. I tried all the mentioned stuff: changing resolution, compatibility mode, admin, installing new direct x version etc....

Nevertheless the whole FIXT will definitely work with the Fallout gog version on a Windows 7 64bit machine with the following procedure:

I)
Install Fallout gog (not in the program folder!)

II)
Download FIXT and install it in a different folder. NOT in ur Fallout installation path!

III)
Select all the files in the FIXT folder. Deselect (ctrl + mouse click) the following files:
FALLOUTW.exe
fallout.cfg
ddraw.dll

IV)
Paste the files in the folder where ur gog fallout is installed and overwrite them if necessary.

WARNING
As far as I can see I have the full functionality of FIXT, but not a higher resolution... Only 640 * 480. However, at least the full functionality works. I am also not sure, if u have to deselect all the three files. I just followed a trial and error approach and now it works.

Even without the high resolution I thank u so much for this great patch! I really appreciate it a lot and it definitely makes a difference. Maybe I should keep an old XP computer for myself to play the game with a higher resolution.

I also have two recommendations:
a)
Could u include in the readme of FIXT how to install the different Fallout versions on different OS ? I think the gog version makes some problems because it already has the last official update.

b)
Could u make one sticky thread for newbies which shows the good and playable mods and patches for Fallout 1 & 2? Because I don't know if some mods a worth the effort to install them and if I can combine them for example with the last unoffical patches.

Smacks:

Hello and welcome to the forums!

I'm sorry you've had so much trouble getting the mod to work.

Out of the falloutw.exe, ddraw files and fallout.cfg is it possible to pinpoint which one is causing the issue? If you can, that would be very helpful for me and any future users that have the issue.

a) yes that is a good idea, thank you I will write up installation instructions and do my best to get a manual install version for those on non-Windows OSs.

b) I'm not sure if this is helpful as FIXT includes pretty much all available Fallout 1 mods. We have a Files section here, there's a few mods in there that FIXT doesn't include (such as Fallout Revisited) but mixing my mod with others is a bad idea, due to mine including many already. All TeamX patches are included.

Yes, u are right with b) for Fallout 1.

I played a little bit around with the files. The fallout.cfg makes no problem.

The ddraw.dll causes an error message if I start the game with the original falloutw.exe of gog with compatibility to Windows 98. However, if I change the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP 3, it works. And even with higher resolution! Settings f1_res_Config.exe:
HiRes Patch Enabled, Graphics Mode: Direct Draw 7.

So everything is now fine! It looks great.

I think the falloutw.exe file is maybe the problem. At least for Windows 7 64 bit with Fallout gog. Can someone else who faces the same problem, try this ?

Thank you, that information is very helpful :)

If you use the Falloutw.exe from FIXT in Windows XP SP3 compatability mode, does it still crash?
