VGChartz reports Fallout: New Vegas sold 1.4 million copies, 30% more than Fallout 3 at this point in its release cycle. 850,000 units were on Xbox360, 460,000 on PS3 and the remainder on PC, the majority of sales being in North America.
It's worth keeping in mind these tracking numbers are guesstimates, but well done regardless.

Fallout's official twitter notes the latest fix has now reached the PS3.

VG Chartz figures should generally be taken with a grain of salt but I don't doubt that the game is selling well.

Great news for Obsidian though especially after the supposed failure of Alpha Protocol (in SEGA's eyes) and the layoffs last year.

So there might be a tiny bit of hope that Zenimax will ask Obsidian back to make Fallout 4 when the time comes.

It will be Fallout 5, but probably without number.

Because New Vegas is Fallout 4. In Fallout 4 Black Isle planned to give Ceasar Legion great role. Fallout 3 + DLC and New Vegas also have many things from Van Buren.

So, lore is almost drained. What do next? Central America? Florida? Mexico? What New Vegas ending can be used for future games?
Are there only NCR and Legion as big powerful organisations?

In the spirit of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, I humbly suggest "Fallout 4: Rapture".

You must be joking. There are plenty of other areas to explore. I wouldn't mind seeing a new take on Chicago and the Midwest (which would probably have to retcon Tactics or push it entirely into non-canon). Or Arizona-New Mexico-Texas. Or Utah-Colorado.

Expanding further north might be cool. We saw a bit of Oregon in Fallout 2, and heard a couple cool things about New England in Fallout 3.

I just really hope that Obsidian get's to keep making more. They certainly made a game more true to Fallout then Bethesda did.

I have seen allot of post-apoc versions of various parts of the US, Europe, Russia (although I really like Russia's post apoc/Metro 2033 even though it's not RPG). Africa looks and Mexico is starting to look post-apoc already IRL so that one doesn't need to be done. Iran-India area would be interesting, but I think it would descend to another "Modern Warfare 23 & 1/3rd" style game.

One thing I think would be interesting would be a post-apoc China in the Fallout universe. Perhaps playing as a descendant of some US soldiers from the war, or that were on a sub/boat/plane that was stranded there since the time of the war, etc.

That or a in-depth, and I mean REALLY in-depth as in mock city in-game model of a major metropolitan city. Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, something similar. Omega Man style. :D

To add to the immersion you could also have a higher int and speech requirement and have the game translate Chinese with these things, in a trait form. Also this would make it easier for development as it would have little lore related things needed to match the US version.

One thing I hope to god they implement that would make me exceedingly happy would be a new damn game engine that runs like a Ferrari.

Say they do make one in China (and since this is Bethesda we're talking about) how do you think they will explain the BOS and Enclave presence over there?

In the same way they explained the reason most of the people in san francisco location in f2 were asian...
Besides there's really no need for bos or enclave to be there. you could have the commie version of the bos or the enclave.

I respect your logic and agree but I'm pretty sure GTA set the standard here. It will be Fallout 4, much like GTA 4 was really GTA 7.

Problem for me is, it stays shooter. For that one, yeah,
Vegas might be really good for what it is. It's just, I
can't get myself interested, the mechanics, it's not
a kind of game that stirs my love. Would love to love
it, but I can't.

You missed his joke, he appreciates the fact they have no reason for being there. He was saying "despite that logic, since Bethesda is making it, they WILL be there."

I've heard New Vegas is less of a shooter (or, at least, can be less of a shooter) than Fallout 3 was. Technically, Fallout 1 and 2 were shooters in the loosest sense of the word, but I see your point. A turn based, iso title is more akin to chess than halo.

Thanks for the backup Anarchosyn

Does anyone know if there anything in the lore about the Chinese having similar structures to Vaults for surviving the nuclear war?

From the wiki: "...It is unknown whether there are still people who exist in China the same way the inhabitants of the North American wastelands do, minus the deathclaws and Super Mutants. It is unknown whether the direct descendants of the Chinese government or even the surviving Chinese people consider themselves still at war with America, or even if they know that the United States still exists in some form. At this point in the Fallout series, there are no known records of anyone from the United States, including the Enclave, ever having established successful contact with the Chinese wasteland."

If Fallout were to ever branch outside of America, China is the only place of interest that I can see it going.
