Fallout website up and Vision Statement revealed

Well I have seen a few but this incredible number that is becoming more active to mentioned how much they look forwards to Bethesda's Fallout 3, well; where are they?

They don't feel the need to talk about it.

Negative emotions drive us to speak more than positive emotions do.

Just look at the state of politics for an example.

To be honest that sounds more "Because they don't say anything, it is proof that they are there."

Nah, I'm not saying they are a majority or anything.

But they are there out there.

I know because more than half of my friends are in that crowd.

If anything, I was just trying to point out that the vocal people have a historical trend of being a minority.

Don't take it as deductive logic, it's a bit more inductive than anything.

Hello xdarkyrex,

You and your friends would make one group, not necessarily the 'biggest' group that Wiki text seemed to imply.

I know plenty of people who can't stand Bethesda's Fallout 3.

Errr, I didn't mean Fallout fans, I meant vocal minorities as a whole.

You mean vocal minorities tend to be minorities? Yes, they do.

Vocal people tend to be (representative of) a minority? No, that's way, way over-generalizing and bluntly historically incorrect.

People tend to speak out more when they are disappointed. Thats why we don't hear all the positive stories. Really, the majority of people are probably looking forward to this game, if you include people who haven't played the older games. Now as for previous fans that are still looking forward to it, I'm the only person I know who is skeptical. But it is true that that is pretty much over generalizing to say that my immediate friends represent a majority. My perception so far, for lack of a better guess, is that the game will be pretty well received, even among a lot of the older fans, especially considering most fans aren't quite so hardcore about it. "It's just a game" as people say. But you are right, and it is only a guess.

I would say that many fans are cautiously optimistic, based on what I've seen across all the message boards.

The optimistic fans just don't post here.

Eh, impression-based data is useless, either way. Do you speak enough European languages to get an impression of their reaction? No? Yet they are traditionally more significant as a whole than the US fanbase.

So hell, "no it isn't" is the only valid reply.

Oh dear god.. no...

Does anyone else think "dad" reminds him of Sam Fisher (of the Splinter Cell games)? For some reason whenever I see this pic that's who comes to mind.

Also just noticed the THX-1138 style guard outside the window.

Maybe it is Sam Fisher. I mean, every game that has that dude in is automatically cool.

Damn, that would be a clever move from The Todd.

Erm no, seeing as Fisher is voiced by Michael Ironsides (who is awesome) and daddy is voiced by Liam Neeson.

BUT IT'S TEH SAM!1

:x Sam outweighs Liam. Cool and crap equal, uh.. damn you and your logics.

Yup, say what you please, the feedback from Fallout fans regarding fallout 3 is mostly negative so far.

I can tell for sure in Brazil the feedback is mostly negative. From what I've seem on gaming forums and fallout fansites in portuguese.

And Id also say, the majority of negative feedback from 'fans' is mostly unjustified and hate for the sake of it. A few people write very clear, justified criticism (brother none, for instance), but for the most part, it's people saying 'it's gonna suck' and leaving it at that. Really, this whole thing has lowered my opinion of this community, which was so effective with FOBOS, down to pretty low levels. Not SA levels, but it reminds me a bit of the WoW community. And that's not good.

Well, that's funny, unless by "the majority" you mean "the minority" but it doesn't seem so...
Or maybe you're just saying this because YOU are positive?

I would say that you won't find many people who "hate for the sake of it" around here. I don't know about the other fansites/communities because i don't frequent them, but most people that post here have built their opinions around the informations which were already released.

And hell, pretty much everyone who was screaming "it's going to be oblivion with gunz" way back when turned out to be prophets.

Sure there are trolls and haters, but it's my own belief that a vast majority is formed by intelligent, observant people, who simply dislike what they have read/what they saw.

What do you expect everyone to do? Repeat tired arguments, when pretty much everyone agrees with everyone? We can but race each other in thinking of the funniest way to ridicule the abomination Fallout 3 turns out to be. :>
