Fargo clarifies

Encouraging. I have the patience to wait. People might get involved in a such a project as a reputation thing. Create a quality game with real depth, whilst getting by financially by appealing to real role-players. Who knows, a good sequel that is successful could help Fallout too by encouraging Bethesda to really be innovative the next time.

I place more faith in Fargo than I do Bethesda to do the job... Just, listen to the fan base god damn it.

Lets hope its more than hot air.

The post-apoc society in Wasteland was even more whacked up than the one in Fallout. Ah the memories...Temple of Blood, Mushroom Church, Harry the Bunny Master....and so on.

Even the robots seemed to have a type of evil intelligence compared to the soulless machines in Tactics.

Don't forget my favorite robots the Slicerdicers! The Howitzer in Needles.

I have said this before and I will say this again - Wasteland is Brian Fargos pet project. He will not fuck it up. The reason it hasnt been in development is because of funding. Fallout was never made to make a ton of money when it came out. It was made by a bunch of fans of a genre that was completely dead. Brian Fargo is no idiot and he loves the Wasteland/Fallout universe. My opinion is that Brian Fargo will not fuck this up because he a huge fan of the universe and fan of real RPGs. I can understand a company taking on other titles to make money and then when the time is right making a product that might not sell that good but will bring them praise from the entire industry just like fallout did for Interplay. It allowed them to make Black Isle Studios.

No matter what he does, he chose the best f*****g moment in the universe to announce it.

Applause for slapping Beth, the old hag.

While Fargo could just be trying to seize FO3's bad press in the hardcore circles as an opportunity to promote his future game, I hope there is really something to this, seeing as the Fallout license is probably lost to Bethesda and not changing hands soon.
I hope Inxile is willing to listen to the fans...

I'd piss myself if he does a Starcraft 2, and out of the blue unleashes a load of screen shots/media of a game quite far in development, with an isometric perspective, and the full works. It would certainly take the wind out of Bethesda's sails somewhat and nerf their first person argument largely.

I just hope he is true to his word and doesn't do a Bard's Tale on it.

Go, go, desert rangers!

Wow, finally some news that might have half a hope of producing something worth looking forward to. I'll be interested to see how this developes.

I doubt this will take much wind out of Bethesda's sails, as has been said. One thing Bethesda is good at is marketing to the gaming majority, and the gaming majority happens to be a bunch of people who don't give a shit about what's in the box, as long as the art on it is nice and it has an "RPG of the year" sticker on it. Hell, hang out in your local gameshop for a bit to see what I mean.

You know, I feel as though I can't wait for this, but I must put it out of my mind so I don't well on it.

I think I spent a good part of 1989 playing wasteland. I always loved that game. Unloading clips into robots, chainsaws. I think at the time it was the only game with a chainsaw as a weapon, I loved it.

What are the chances of a Wasteland Forum on the site?

None, unless you can convince the Snake Squeezins community they should have a hosted forum here instead of dwelling on Evilgroups. We have had a few Wasteland threads in General Gaming, but interest isn't really what it could be.

@topic - mayhaps a wasteland 2 subforum, once Fargo releases enough material to ensure that the game will indeed be worth attention?

You know one of those nightmares where you scream your lungs out, but no sound is made? You've lost your voice no matter how loudly you shout.
That's what dealing with Bethesda as a fan feels like.

If Fargo doesn't have his head stuffed up his ass like Bethesda, he'll listen to us. And wouldn't that be grand...
