From the director of Independence Day...2012

I'll tell you what:

1st - The "end of the world" in the Mayan calendar is not the bible's apocalipse. It's about more about the end of an age (big changes in the way of life, in cultures, in humanity's perspective of things); few localized big stuff MAY happen, like a meteorite here, a tsunami there (already happening lol), but sure as hell it won't be doomsday like that.

Not that I believe, just explaining.

2nd - Pics from this movie will make some of the best wallpapers in the motherfucking internet - Pulp Fiction reference intended

Don't be daft.
They're going to use nukes, cause there is nothing that can't be solved through detonating thermonuclear warheads.

Faultlines, meteors, black holes, and now the impeding destruction of the world.

Perhaps they will blow up God or something.

It seems movie companies over the last few years have had a arms race to see how much of a movie they can put in a trailer. That 2012 trailer I just saw took that concept to a whole new level. If anyone asks me if I have seen 2012 I'm just going to say yes.

"Mankind's earliest civilization..."

What a load of crap. Gives me a good clue as to what the film will be like.

It's like that film Bee Movie. When the first words spouted by the film were something along the lines of "According to all known laws of physics, bees cannot fly", then I knew how much of a stinker the film would be.
Yeah, add to it the crap about the Mayans "predicting that the world would end on December 21 2012" and you have total shit.

The guy's only good film is perhaps, Stargate, which launch another geekdom like Starwars and Star Trek. Man all these titles have the word 'star' in them. :ugly:
Stargate was a pretty horrible movie but it spawned a pretty decent TV series (SG1).

This one probably will be on the same level, but with huge effects. They're probably trying to get an Oscar for that.
Nah, the academy is in a phase where they want to give Oscars to either political films or Hollywood budget indy-style films.

Is there any point in trying to survive on the open sea if most of the planet's atmosphere is blackened by volcanic dust?
Spaceships.

Nope, it was just when their calendar looped and started again at 0. Granted they would have had a huge celebration in order to honor the event but they didn't believe that anything was going to happen on that date, it's just how their system worked out.

Do not ill speak of Stargate man, because it's gold. In this, I am right and you are wrong, just accept it and move on. OBEY.

And my statement about mayan stuff is not really mine, it's what I saw on a documentary (BBC or Discovery, don't remember; check YouTube, it's there).

2012 is the reset year for the Mayan calendar. Not the end of time, the reset of their calendar. this is nothing but another Y2k scare based solely on ignorance.

QFT. Stargate was a good movie that spawned an OK spin-off. Independence Day was a decent summer action flick. This... will probably be crap, but we'll see.

Yeah, that happens and the Discovery channel has a lot of sketchy programs which are hardly educational. Anyway, it comes from a different camp of idiots but idiots they remain.

who cares what the Mayan's think, their dead.

end of story.
No they are not! There are still somewhat 6 Million Mayans around Yucatan and such :P

this movie looks like one of the most hilariously bad pieces of shit which has ever been made.

i couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire trailer.

Spaceships?
So between all the disasters the US government finally invents interplanetary travel and manages to build enough ships to evacuate a population?

not really clear from what i can tell. could be oceanfaring vessels?

That is what I think and that is why I am asking if there is any chance to survive on a ship on the open ocean when most of the planet is devastated.

Not just a couple of months, but permanently.

probably a bigger chance of that than living forever in a vault or a spaceship. :)

at least you can go around collecting stuff you need when your selfcontained ecosystem falters.

If they make a sequel showing the descendants of a submarine crew that survived armaggedon and is now exiting the seas and exploring the land, it will be interesting (the PA sequel, not the 2012 itself).

If they are chinese and find San Fran, it will be gold.

Reminds me of Noah's Ark. But this movie will probably be another attempt to slam some environmental bullshit lessons down our throats.

''Take care of our planet for future generations, blah, blah. My name is Al Gore obey me, blah, blah.''

You have never seen Waterworld ?

To hell if Kevin Costner can survive in such a world ... everyone can.
