Game Informer article scans removed

I remember emailing Pete and talking about getting some "EXCLUSIV3" screenies when the time came, the answer I got was everyone would get the screenies and such.. So that leaves me wondering..

1. Why does GI have an exclusive?
2. Why cant they share the art/movie shown to us?

Its obvious tho, if you read between the lines... I'll give you a hint, Pete is doing his PR bit and trying to satisfy everyone (read lying). Publishers/developers does this, they give certain mags the "right" to have exclusives so they sell more mags and in return the publisher/dev gets publicity.. Always has been done..

Whats troubling tho is the content of those scans and not that we hosted the scans, it clearly demonstrates a Fallout with no Falloutish feel and with nuclear hand held weapons...need I say more?...

So I say, take Pete on his word and ask for the screenshots/movie clip that was shown or whatever.. He claimed himself that everyone who was willing to publish images and such would be allowed to... so give..

I find it normal for them to not allow every site posting the magazine, if you want to see the pictures, buy the magazine.

That would be true IF GI would come out in other countries then the US. I can't get GI here so being able to read the scans is important to me. And don't tell me that because i'm European i have to wait a good deal longer then the people in the US. It's retarded logic, it's bad PR on Beths side, there is actually nothing good about it.

And i can only say

'Oops, they did it again'

Anyone remember what happened to a certain Star trek site when they refused to do what NMA did ?

I've seen a scan of an exclusivity deal once. It included minimum rating of game being 90%.

Briosafreak reported on his blog that GI has some form of video interview with Todd Howard and Istvan Pely up on their site that people with subscriptions can watch.
There is also "Ask Miller about Fallout 3 feature" which is also for subscribers only.

sorry to go back to a previous point when the discussion has moved on completely but was the GI article on Oblivion written any better than the Fallout 3 one? also i was wondering how it compared to the final product

Well, the guy on the cover is on a horse with his sword drawn.
What does that tell you? :P

Oh gee I just cant wait to get my Red Ryder Special Edition Nuclear Catapult toy and Authentic Toilet Bowl toy which you can special order directly from Bethesda.

Or you can wait until around Christmas and buy the complete Fallout Playhouse to include Super Or errr Mutants with real war hamm err rear axle weapons.

If I want to fucking play a FPS nuclear wasteland game I will play STALKER.

I really want to play Fallout 3 that stays true to the heritage not some cheap Oblivion clone that appeals to the console kiddies and the bean counters at Beth who whore themselves out for every dollar they can grab.

At least be honest Bethesda and admit that is a radical departure from what made Fallout 1 and 2 great :x

Hey hey hey, it's not like the only thing Bethesda does is whore out themselves and their own work.
With Fallout 3, they're whoring out other people's legacies too!

while it of course correlates to beth's broken promises (lies?) and such i was more wondering about how it described gameplay and such (more as a guide to how seriously to take the Fallout 3 article to be honest)

The sad thing is I actually tried to go buy the magazine at lunch yesterday (even though I've already read most of the scanned pages) and couldn't find it. Hit 2 different Borders, a large computer retailer, a Best Buy, a used music/games store, and a grocery store.

Not the best market penetration there, I'd say. Good choice of magazine for the exclusive.

Can't Get There From Here ... Either

...I can't get GI here ...

Tried 3 differing magazine venues June 18, 2007.
July issues of PC Gamer,EGM. even British game mags, (2 weeks past prime - June usually), and no GI,
clerk fingered local Columbus Ohio mag distributer.

Will try the computer store that sells Macs.
Micro Center has boutique-d their games department.
Was brigaded with big screens, but big screens were still too expensive. Down sized total store square footage. Games have their own niche and very roughly about 52 % is X Box, 30% other consoles, LOT'S OF PS 2 there SONY. Yet to see PS 3. Hidden in the back, need written permission to view? That's posh.

Rest of shelf space PC, bet there's the same last copies of Oblivion marked at $49.99....

Will see if Micro Center has a July GI,
need to go to that strip mall to see if the 'just in time' merchandizing has .....
store fronts can't seem to stock ....
some day will be too much a waste of gasoline ....
shop only when returning from work .... see how important the web may become?

Well the supermarket was out of all Beck's yesterday so that's reason enough to brave the summer heat and drive by the BIG Liquor Mark'.

Trust I'll be doing a Bush-ie eyed "'Mission Accomplished"" this afternoon ...

at least for the Beck's , that won't be for subscribers only ... oh and the GI July.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS I've saved all the images to my hd D: And I've burnt them onto a cd aswell as send them to all my e-mails..

Kind of makes sense. GI is seems to be a piddly magazine with no market penetration. Desperate to be noticed, they eagerly latch onto the Bethesda teat to get exclusive info in return for a guaranteed positive spin and review.

Even apart from the content of the article, this is not a positive sign for Bethesda, GI, or Fallout 3 (even though Bethesda will pat themselves on the back for dictating media coverage of their product).

The game shown is a console action game (Oblivion with Nukes). It is not an RPG, and it is not Fallout.

Actually, Game Informer is pretty much the biggest USA gaming magazine.

Hard to find in some US areas, though, it seems :wiggle:

Can't find it anywhere in the Tampa-St. Pete area, I tried.

And to be quite honest, I never even heard of GI until this came up. But then again, I avoid the zombie makin' consoles and their rags with a passion.

Cheers, Thorgrimm

I absolutely loved their Oblivion review. Never in my life had I read so much horse shit in one page. I mean honestly.

They spoke of things that like, were never even NEAR the level of what Oblivion was.

Something among of lines of:

Memory Post from Game Informer said:
"I was riding on the snowy mountain cliffs of the plains, and I glanced upon a cliff overshadowing Cyrodiil. My horse neighed and stood up in the air, slowly drawing my sword, I rode down the side of the large hills and began slicing goblins that would spill crimson into the fully HDR rendered air, that would also react by putting up barricades at the bottom using the Radiant AI. I also then found a dungeon, which was something of unparalleled beauty, randomly generated, every single dungeon was a like a droplet of rain, or a snowflake - never two identical dungeons to ever be found."

They sell them at Gamestop, Electronic Boutique and Funcoland.

This is true, I've subscribed to them for 4 years now and have read great stuff over that time span. I'm sure if the magazine was available to everyone in the world your views would be different.
(non US residents that is)
