Game Informer article scans removed

It's weird (though not surprising) that Beth asked for them to be taken down, as surely any publicity is good publicity -ahem-

But seriously given how they can't find the time to clarify stuff, and seem to have handed the buck on that front over to GI exclusively, why get involved in a take down? It's not like it's their magazine sales are going to be hit - and the media was designed for mass dissemination, so its hardly secret. Pretty damned pathetic that they want to restrict their own products exposure... I mean don't they like all our positive spin, and stuff? :wiggle:

I can understand GI being a bit miffed and wanting it taken down though, they have a legit reason to whinge.

A thing to keep in mind is that Bethesda and Game Informer have some history with each other. Game Informer also had an exclusive on Oblivion, you might remember the following image if you paid attention to that game's development:

Because people thought it was crap here so they don't want more people to see it.

This has been done for the sole purpose and fact that we are NMA. Most of us here dislike the content in the Game Informer article. BS-Nazi-Corp apparently doesn't like the fact that their product is not praised by us so they go on running to Game informer asking them to take action, disregarding the fact that the scans are already ALL ACROSS THE INTERNET.

Game Informer isn't sold in France, should i remove those scans ? French people won't buy it anyway...

*shrugs* Who knows. Wait for them to ask you. If they don't, don't.

Well. fuck'em. Everybody's got their copy, by now... actually I luckily got it a few minutes before it was removed :D
And Bethesda is so fascist about a bunch of issues that this is probably just the top of the shit pile.

I've been banned out of their forums after 2 posts! Just because I mentioned the fact I wasn't gonna buy the game before trying it - thus implying downloading-burning-pirating-smugglingchildrensorgans practices which are an anathema to our civilized society. And I said the Oblivion/console trend was pathetic.

By the way, the article sucks, so does Fallout 3, with its nuke catapults and hybrid combat mode. So again, fuck'em.

I would like to think the Bethesda and Game Informer resorted to this act after it became clear that instead of wowing every member of the Fallout Community with what Bethesda has made, blowing away every negative thinker, and establishing the FO3 team as RPG geniuses, they instead got more negative reactions than they could imagine.

The question is, are they going to re list NMA as one of the fan sites?

They already did, and links to the frontpage of NMA are allowed again.

good to hear that we are not their ethernal enemies. Not like it matters much. BS-corp doesn't care what fans want.

On a side note, why can't i stay logged in after i restart the browser? For some reason the cookie is not saving?

When hosting images like that I think you'd wish you lived somewhere else. Where in, when you get the cease and desist letter in your email. You can reply with the good old F-off.

We all live somewhere else (with us I mean the responsible people, me as poster, Odin as owner, possibly Silencer as editor, all Europeans), but the site's on an American server and thus falls under American law. Not much to be done about that.

Ooh yes, mounted combat - didn't that just seal the deal with Oblivion!

At least they have re-listed us now (to be fair), though I do have to wonder how long that will last - given the majority of us seem to have taken offence to their product. We may not be quite as vocal as the (I Love Oblivion) Codex lot, but surely they won't want potential customers visiting here either, the way things are going anyhow :)

Well it possible that BETH is buying themselfs a spot in an european mag.

Ow and as for the article/preview not being in PC gamer, if the test version is on x-box you kind know why. Besides ports are rarely any good!

Well, I can understand Game Informer's side of it. I got a free subscription to it last year for buying something at gamestop or something. Kinda a low quality gaming mag really. Like Gamepro but without the unbearable incompetence.
I mean it ok, but I'm a bigger fan of PC Gamer (why they didn't get the article I don't know. Something to do with it being multiplatform maybe?)
Anyway, the point is that the big selling point of this month's issue is the Fallout article. Posting it on a major fan site for the game might really hurt their sales. You post a big article on the article, fans go out and buy it to find out for them selves in case your post was biased. You post the actual article, why waste money on the mag? If you reposted those pages next month after the next issue comes out, I doubt they'd give a damn.

Now, why bethesda was the first to react and bitch about it. No idea. At least none that doesn't edge on crazy conspiracy theory.

Here's an interesting thought though. Of all those other sites that still have links to the article, how many others have been contacted and dropped their links? If the answer is "not many" that says alot about the value they're putting on NMA in regards to fan traffic and influence power. It also says something creepy about Bethesda. If they were the first to contact you and not the actual magazine then that means that they're keeping a close eye on what's going on here. (insert whatever malignant motivations you want here)

IMOP, Bethsoft didn't say anything for 48 hours because they were gauging the situation. If the 800+ posts had been positive, the scans would still be up...

Now all the promise of last weeks teaser is down the drain and they know it. I still can't get over the catapult... Sheesh.

Odin, Tan, etc.... What percentage of your hits are coming from Bethsoft?
