Gamespy on Fallout fans

*snip* and then outright lying about the Fallout 3 forum (I've never seen anyone say the war didn't happen on the east coast, and almost everyone *wanted* Ron Perlman in it) is a new low for them.

What about over at DaC? Heck. It's hard to say which forum in particular he is talking about. Not to mention which website...

Now, you can hardly discuss anything about possible changes to Fallout over at DaC w/o someone coming along to show you the fine art of "50 expletives per paragraph" (which what I got upon mentioning rope climbing and first person exploration with third person ISO TB combat). But NMA is much more civil, IMO, and I really dislike this guy bashing every Fallout fan. I mean.. wow.

I can kinda understand where he's coming from though. I mean if there's 100 people who like something, but only 10 of them are die hard about it and will pull your legs off if you say anything about it could possibly be changed, and you happen to step in the den that houses those 10 people... then maybe, just maybe they will leave you with a bad imipression of the whole 100.

I get the impression they're talking about BethSoft's official Fallout 3 forum.

I frequent a lot of Fallout sites, mainly NMA, DaC and the BethSoft forums. I didn't see anyone claiming the war didn't happen in the east coast or that Ron Perlman should be in it. Hell, Ron Perlman won the DaC poll by a landslide. I'd be surprised if anyone can find a quote from a Fallout fan saying something like that, but I know for sure it's not the predominant opinion anywhere.

Bad impression or not, that neither excuses lying about what they're asking for or wishing them all to die, no matter how much anyone can understand where he's coming from. That's hate, man, cold hate because people disagree with him. I'm sorry, but that's a bit scary.

Agreed that guy is is deep hat mode for Fallout fans. Must be really bitter about Tactics not making it big time. It also seems to me he was talking the Beth forums and like Brother None I haven't seen anyone say any of the tripe Rausch claims. He's a wanker plain and simple.

Well, like I said, I understand, but don't agree with him. xD

Heck. I don't hate anyone. And I especially wouldn't hate someone to that degree over simple preferences. >.>

I don't even hate backstabbers... I just dislike them... a lot.

Edit: And the funny thing is, I actually liked Fallout Tactics! And this guy is even putting me down because, after all, I also consider myself a FO fan. :P

I actually have two copies of FOT, one purchased at release, and another with a bundle of other games I got cheap on eBay.

[stereotype] Oh well.. what can you expect from PR types? [/stereotype]

Alan "Delsyn" Rausch is a fucking troll.

He's the vocal edition of the latest craze in foruming.

I mean, man. What did we do to tick this guy off?

We've been reasonable, civil and calm. We're simply fans that speak our mind about their favorite franchise.

I mean, some of us do get a little hot-headed, but that's perfectly understandable after what some of us have been through in the past decade.

But still - I don't think NMA or all of Fallout-fandom as a whole deserves the shit that this guy is putting out.

Here's a cut portion of the 90 minute speech - cut down to actual segment in which he begins to speak about the Fallout fans; for those of you who don't want to download 95 MB of Gamespy horseshit:

How come we get all this hate, at this moment, when the game is finally coming out? Aren't we supposed to buy a certain game a few months from now?

This is a strange behavior from anyone, no matter what position he has. He did get an interview. It's just stupid to act like that.

Fallout Tactics was a mediocre attempt to use the name to gain some additional bucks. Has that move ever succeeded to be a smash hit before? What was he expecting? Someone should grab some reality pills... geez.

Here's his wonderful bio:

Delsyn's been gaming since that day in 1975 when his parents had to drag him kicking and screaming away from a Pong machine. Since then, his psyche has been warped by all the standard Generation X/mega-geek influences: Monty Python, Star Wars, Blake's 7, Green Lantern comic books and far too much Star Trek. While the PC will always be his first love when it comes to gaming, he's recently rediscovered the PS2 and on weekends can be found playing SSX3 until his butt goes numb or getting killed in Tony Hawk Underground by his 13 year old nephew. He's married and has a daughter named Lily and a son named David who are the cutest children ever in the whole, wide world. He also recently had his first novella "Dia de Los Muertos" published by White Wolf. He's currently living for the day his kids can school him in Doom IV or Duke Nuke'em Forever.

Well, they know we aren't going to buy it, so I'm pretty sure they're attempting to make us seem like we're rabid idiots who aren't REAL fans. That way, our criticisms are pushed aside as wacky hobo ramblings while the TRUE fans at Bethesda take the series in a bold new direction... of sucking

That's fucking pathethic. They're calling us arrogant?

Sooner or later someone with register a "Delsyn" and start fucking with us. Quick, ban that name!

Arrogant and Backwards...

Even though their logic is to make Fallout 3 an unholy amalgam of popular games, which is, by definition, backwards in and of itself.

..ignorance, stupidity and arrogance is bad combination..
I guess he must know, he seems to be suffering from all three.
They have some of the finest RPGs ever made.
And some of the shittiest spin-off's imaginable, funny how he forgot to mention that titbit. In all the FO forums I frequent, I haven't seen one person say Ron Perlman shouldn't be doing it, ever. I have seen people moan about the East coast setting, but not because the war never hit there - that is crazy talk...

Seriously did Rosh kill his cat over FOT ? :)

I'm a new member but i've been lurking in the fallout community for almost six years and while i take offense to this let us be reminded that Rausch is no different than the multitudes of sheeple blindly endorsing Bethsoft's claim of "love" for the games.
Now, on a speculative side, i'm wondering if this might be one of the opening shots of Bethsoft's manipulative marketing campaign as detailed in Bradylama's "Don't buy the hype" post since these comments seek to make fools out of the fallout fanbase.

As pointed out before, Rausch has had issues with the community before.

But honestly, except for sites where every Fallout thread turns into an oppertunity to bash NMA, shouldn't most people see that wishing a community of people to die horribly just because you don't agree with them is a bit extreme? Sure, it'll attract certain types of typical internet tough guyz, but the average reader? :|

No way.

...Isn't filling out a feedback form "bitching about it"?

Also, got a 500 internal error, there

Is it just me or do Rosh and Rausch sound exactly the same when you try to say them out loud?

No matter.

I'm also getting a server error for the Gamespy feedback form.

Depends on what you say there. Rausch is an employee. As any employee he has to answer to his superiors, and if you convince them that Rausch crossed the line, he would have a lot to answer for. I expressed my disappointments, pointed that kids read this fine magazine, and demanded to a retraction and an apology. I suggest you do the same.

There are at least 3 people above Rausch on the food chain. Email them as well.
