Fellow NMA users. This thread is whatever you choose to make of it. Talk about how much you hate your relatives, whine about your life when people dump you, you know that sort of thing. General discussion as the title would imply. I suggest talking about religion or politics since it's the most volatile topic imaginable and many people have strong opinions on it. That thread has survived the Great Decline and still lives to this day. What does NMA have? The avatar thread? Isn't it time for NMA to speak their mind?!

I encourage people not to spam and post meaningful stuff. Or this thread could be dead or vatted in a day or sooner. Either way it should be interesting.

I like this. It is a bold prediction to create a "super-thread" from scratch, but it certainly can be done. "Random babble" threads are certainly the best bet, and this subforum seriously lacks one!

I'm a fan of "random chat"-threads myself, they're a good spot to leave some musings without making a whole thread. Sometimes you just wanna post something, get a "lol" and move on, not a whole thread. Also, long discussions can be freely allowed to de-rail naturally.

My own most successful thread creation was "The boob thread", years ago, on the Marilyn Manson forum. With all the insecure goth chicks in there, as well as random boobs people fetched from online, it really took off beyond my expectations. Then again, there isn't a lot of discussing boobs. More just agreeing. Hi fiving. The boob. Okayimdone.
 
I always like the IDEA of "talk about whatever you want" discussions, but I've yet to see them executed the way I imagine them. I saw the prospects for great discourse many times on Youtube, and... well, I'm sure we all know, what with the site's reputation, that they rarely ever came along very well.

I always like to joke (because an entire branch of my family is "Westerner" and the rest is "European") that while it's a common saying in the West that polite dinner conversation should NEVER include sex, religion, or politics, that with Serbs, polite dinner conversation MUST include religion and politics! At least, whether it was family gatherings, or church, or parties, or wherever I'd go, Serbs were always carrying on, talking about Putin, Stalin, Clinton, Obama, Djindjic, NATO, ustasa, free speech, Communism eroding religion, and so on and so on. I always loved the energy of their debates, which led me to despise "quiet and politely reserved" conduct among other U.S. citizens. It always felt condescending and demeaning and dishonest, whereas the boisterous, passionate shouting back and forth about politics and religion always felt so respectful and intellectually challenging. Hell, it wasn't until I sat down with my mother's long-time friend from college and had a philosophical debate with her, that I'd ever heard a compelling rational defense for Communism as a system! Meanwhile, go to that other branch of my family, where the blood's Irish and German and they're all multi-generation Americans, and they meekly mutter that they don't particularly like chatting about politics, and let's talk about ferries! Ugh...

I suppose, with enough time, I'll probably get an ample degree of mileage out of this topic, cause spontaneity and jibber jabber are second nature to me. So I'll probably let off steam sometimes or yack about whatnot (like the above) with much glee. =D

Ah yes, one of my favorite Hungarian forums had an "Off Topic" thread, I always miss that on other forums. Of course, it's very hit and miss, it can very easily devolve into "Shitpost General". Oh well.

Ideologies always go towards a maximum, which is the "extreme". Sometimes I want to see what the world looks like, with societies only working from extreme ideologies. A "social-democratic"-leaning Norway obviously turns into Cambodia x 10, we execute not only everyone with glasses, but everyone with a respectable haircut, in fact, everyone with ironed clothes! Ironing is banned as reactionary.
 
So I think you guys need to learn how to do this. Go outside. Shotgun as many beers as you can. Come inside. Then post something to say.
 
I am in Poland eating Pizza, got sick for 5 days because I got my hair wet while walking on the snow. Awesome.
