So guys, where you live, do you get this whole week off? It's one of the good things of having such a deeply ingrained Catholic tradition in your country Holy Week. Altho I am preparing red meat for Friday too, just to not be completely hypocrital with my own atheism.

Here we got a week off at least for schools and such, but for most people there's very little religiousness in easter. At most bunnies and cardboard eggs filled with candy. Otherwise we have very odd customs, like easter-quizzes (just ordinary quizzes) and "easter-crime" which is a trend/tendency to read more crime novels during easter, and watch crime series on tv, often random cop mystery miniseries seasonally labelled "easter-crime". I never understood why. Maybe something to do with Judas

Oh and skiing/mountain hut staying, for some reason, closely associated with easter, probably just the timing. People get time off, and hurry off to the mountains to ski a little before the last snow melts

It's actually two weeks, at least for most schools.

I will make a Krustenbratten with Spätzle today.

Gosh, I love cooking so much.

Kids can be nice but they can also be difficult to work with. Done some teaching and it all depends on what kind of class you get. If it's 30 miscreants hellbent on screaming etc. then it can get old very fast.

Nice food btw. I'll have to cook something for easter. The Finnish easter speciality is mämmi that looks like s**t but tastes nice.

I hate children, the only kid I like is my nephew because he is family and I have seen him grow up. Other little shits tho? Thy are little sociopaths, and they don't become any better asthey grow up, they just change the way they are annoying. I would never pursue a job in education, I would have a bigger mental breakdown than when I worked on the Call Center.

I'm the exact opposite. I love kids. I plan to go into the Education field and teach English. Specifically English Literature. I find helping young minds grow is very rewarding and completely worth the effort. Fiance and I want 3 kids, 2 of our own and 1 adoption. Or 2 adoptions and 1 of our own.

Even if they aren't my own kids, I think since these little ones are going to be our future policemen, firemen, ambulance workers, congressmen, etc, I want to be one of the people to help them succeed in whatever they set out to do. The children are our future after all.

Ragemage,
do they have special classes just for literature over there for kids? With a specialised teacher? That's nice. Over here it at least used to be so that literature was sort of skimmed over until college/university level where you can study it separately.

I would really like to teach literature, instead I've taught stuff like wood working (?) and stuff like that. Nothing wrong with wood working but with chaotic kids it can be a little dangerous.

They do, yes. In High School the literature class is usually known as "Reading" and it's required alongside an English grammar course. In College there's many many different kinds of literature subjects you can take. Theology, Mythology, American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, etc etc. If there's a section of the world that wrote a lot of lovely stories, then there's a class about it.

Hey I don't wish any ill towards kids, nor I am against them getting proper education and such. I am all for that.... is just that the one educating them and all that won't be me because I hate dealing with them.

Walpknut,
I'm sure that if you taught something like drawing to kids and first showed them some of your drawings the kids would be enthralled and it would be a fun class for you to teach. But I know what you mean and it can be challenging. I prefer to teach adults since usually they have developed things like empathy etc. Kids don't always have that yet.

Kids depend on their parents often. I like kids when they are well raised and polite. It gives me hope o_-

Some are SO spoiled, SO spoiled, and I suspect it's generational. I've had lil 5-6 year olds flip the finger at me and a friend. My friend decided to not let that fly, and chased the lil fucker all way home, the kid screamed and cried, it was awesome.
I've had one kid, about same age, call my door, and instantly ask where I got my xbox. 1. don't have an xbox, 2. don't want one, 3. don't know the kid, 4. wtf is this kid being taught back home!?
When I said "no", he litterally went "oh yeah!?" and snuck his swift little self right past me - HE CAME INTO MY HOME. This shit could land ME in prison!
I grabbed him by the shirt, and quite litterally swung him back out the door, and slammed it shut. Little bastards!!!

In contrast, the daughter of the step-daughter of my uncle, tiny lil toddler-baby, no human words yet, and I made a slightly odd expression to her, and she giggled at me. AWWWW :O

I'm getting the impression there is a lot of new people I don't know in this forum, and not nearly enough old people I know. Where is everyone? Why do I keep returning to a place I don't know anybody.

The Walking Dead jumped the shark folks. They fucked up.

The Walking Dead lost all interest for me around the mid-way point of Season 2 when the characters found a zombie in the water well. A very putrid, bloated zombie that had clearly been in there for days given its body. Not thinking for a second that the water's already contaminated thanks to that zombie being in there, they tie poor Glenn up with a rope and lower him down onto the zombie so they can try and get it out of the water. And then the zombie ends up exploding anyway. It's probably one of the most stupid things I've ever seen on television. No thought put into it whatsoever and the rest of Season 2 didn't exactly fare well either. (Hershel putting zombies in a barn because somehow he thinks this is just an ordinary disease despite the fact that their skin is falling off and one of them is missing half of their fucking face?) it just gets worse. I stopped watching after Season 2 because of how dumb it got. Does it ever get better? I haven't read the comic series so I wouldn't know about what's supposed to happen after season 2 comic-wise.

So wait which one jumped the shark then? The comics or the show? Cuz the show jumped the shark a looooong time ago.

The show didn't really jump the shark until recently. If you didn't read the comic you can't judge it quite the same way. It had low points but never this bad.

The comic is one of the better series still in print. The show doesn't have the balls to do what the comic does.
