General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

What the fuck is up with people and trains. I don't understand it...They are trains. They stay on a track. They don't...they don't do anything.

They go choo-choo and toot-toot, mofo.

That, and they are marvels of engineering. Hauling insane amounts of weight, etc.

That said, I'm playing GTA: LCS on my PSP, and toying with the idea of picking up Cryostasis.

They fuckin have to arrive on time. And they adhere to speed limits. And they open doors. And they make sure the passengers are comfortable. And they must stop in the correct position.

But they don't do anything. Can't you be into planes or something cool? They fly, they go where they want, all that...
I mean, trains just...They go the same place.

Forever.

The.

Same.

Place.

Over.

And.

Over.

Again.

Somebody talk about Cryostasis, damn it. What's it like? Does it have trains?

I liked it a lot for it's atmosphere and the way story was told. Didn't notice any trains. It did have an old tanker though. However a lot of people consider it boring. It depends on wether you are looking for a first person adventure game, or an action packed shooter.

Oh, I forgot about that. I wholeheartedly recommend it, even though it does not contain even a single train. I was quite positively surprised, because the story, pacing and atmosphere is just right. And the ending was great. Loved it. Thing is, I played the Russian version. I can't say whether the English translation is any good. The story is this game's strong point, it's definitely not good for fast shooting action.

Translation itself is decent from what I've seen in english version, however voice acting is worse. As with STALKER, they felt the need to make characters sound like idiots with that funny russian accent. I suppose they think it should add to atmosphere, but I'd rather they went with no accent at all. This game should really have it's own thread I think.

Since I have been playing GTA IV and well, started loving the game. Can anyone tell me about Lost and the Damned? Good? Bad? Worth it? What do I get?

I only make one gaming purchase a month. My time to purchase is coming up so I'm wondering if I should get it.
It's either The Lost and the Damned or Half Life off of Steam.

The Lost and the Damned is pretty much an expansion pack to GTA IV.

Several new vehicles, some new weapons, around 10~15 hours of new missions.

If you liked GTA IV, you'd most likely enjoy LatD.

I've gotta admit that GTA4 was damn fine. On the other hand I love most GTA games. I'd get Lost & The Damned since HL didn't really tickle my fancy.

Lost And The Damned was really fun, nice worthwhile story, the new bikes were cool, the new weapons were pretty neat, and the new MP modes were quite fun, if you liked IV definetly try it.

Also, I'm playing in the Battlefield Heroes beta right now and I'm having tons of fun with it and a couple of other friends that got in as well.

played x-man origins - wolverine demo.
it ain't anything special but it sure is brutal! might be worth renting.
